A friend and I met here for lunch, our first time going. We ended up at different registers when ordering. She had a guy, and I had a girl. I could hear my friend getting explanations on the salads, etc, while I on the other hand was getting glared at to hurry along with my order. I told the girl this was my first time to be there and she just stood there, saying nothing friendly, but answered a question I had abruptly and rudely. I just ordered the basic with a side of soup. I had no time to look at the other choices. When I turned around, there wasn't anyone else waiting in line. I was a bit frustrated to say the least. I know I could have taken more time, but it's hard to concentrate when you're being glared at and rushed. I'm not sure if I would recommend or not. My friend's experience was better than mine, so, I guess it depends on who's behind the counter when you order. The basic chicken salad is just that, basic, but the chicken and wild rice soup was really good. This location is in the Arlington Highlands right off of I20. It is easy to find and there's usually plenty of parking. I come here for lunch and the service is always friendly and efficient. They were super patient when I had a ton of questions. The orders come out quickly and there is even a cooler filled with chicken salad to-go. My favorite thing about chicken salad, chick, is there egg salad croissant. I mean, don't get me wrong. The chicken salad is delicious, and I really enjoy them, but egg salad just keeps calling me back, some days I'm feeling real nauseous and it's the only thing that makes me happy. The croissant, I would definitely pass on, very dense, no flavour. I'd either just use the crackers or try the club sandwiches. The spicy pimento was good. I've never had grape salad before but it was delicious, very much a dessert item than a side!! I preferred that over the complimentary cookie, which was cute. The food came out very quickly, I could have just waited at the counter basically for it, based on how quickly it came out. It comes with two pints of chicken salad, a huge serving of a side dish (I opt for and love the broccoli slaw), plus a loaf of whole grain bread (or croissants) , and frosted sugar cookies. It's so easy to assemble a delicious and mostly healthy meal this way! I cannot imagine ordering anything except Kickin Kalyn which has a buffalo and blue cheese flavor. This place recently opened and I had a coupon, so I came to check it out. They have counter service and offer several variations of chicken salad. The also have soups, egg salad, sandwiches and a few other things. The chicken salad is categorized as: traditional, savory, fruity/nutty, and spicy. You can get a scoop or a sandwich. I got a scoop of the lemon basil chicken salad. It comes out on a piece of lettuce, with a side of crackers, pickle, and a soft sugar cookie. I also got one of their giant rice crispy treats. The lemon basil scoop was good, but very bland. It simply tasted like traditional chicken salad. I could not pick up any flavors of lemon or basil. They must have been out of pecans, bc mine didn't have any. I also tried the, "Kickin Kay" which is supposed to be spicy. It has bacon, cheese, sriracha, ranch, and jalapeños, etc. With all of those delicious ingredients, I thought it would be loaded with flavor. Nope. This again was very bland, I struggled to taste anything other than traditional chicken salad. I am not a super big fan of plain chicken salad, so I was a little disappointed in both of these menu items. Last but not least, I tried my rice Krispy treat. They are pretty big and prob need to be shared. Looks like they are made with a combo of chocolate and regular Krispies and topped with chocolate chips. It was soft and very marshmallowy and I liked the texture of the chocolate chips on top. It was just way too sweet for me! I rarely say such a forbidden thing, but man was it SWEET! Overall, our food was good. It was just not as flavorful as I was wanting it to be. I'll give them the benefit of doubt and maybe they were out of some ingredients, leading to bland chicken salad. They are not stingy on the pimento cheese or the bacon. It was a really great sandwich. As the side I got a scoop of egg salad because I was going to have it for lunch the next day. So much to take in on the first visit!!! We went around 1:00 a week before Christmas. We were hungry and happen to be shopping over here. There were a lot of people eating at tables and the line was short, but we still felt overwhelmed going in. We had no idea what to choose as it all sounded good. She explained it to us and then offered samples. We sampled a couple and still overwhelmed we just picked something! We had to wait for a table to open up--I felt bad as a group practically scarfed down the last of their food and offered their table as they got up to leave. I had the Chick with Buffalo, Pimento Cheese & Tomato Bisque soup. It was all very good. Came with crackers, pickle, and a cookie! M had the Chick with Sassy Scotty, Buffalo, and a spinach salad. He was impressed with how filling the scoops were. Although it was really busy and hard to come by a table, that might change when it's not the holidays and the "new" wears off a little.
