The Hoover location has lots of seating and a variety of different chicken salad, chip, drink and dessert options. I visited back in February with my dad. He and my mom order from Chick Salad Chick fairly often & have go-to menu items -- Classic Carol & Olivia Old South. I enjoy the Cranberry Kelli. Each meal comes with a small complimentary soft baked cookie. I usually save them for my children as they are about the size of a macaroon. I saw a sandwich called fruity Fran, so I said... let's give that a shot as it sounds too good to be true. Went there for their cake. Heard alot of good things about it. So off I go to the venue on Lorna road. They a white chocolate slice of cake which looked fabulous. The price for out the door was roughly $6. The cake was a very generous portion and great tasting. Very possibly one of the best slice of cake in Birmingham area. Went today at around 3pm for the Mother's Day Special. They were out of most of the chicken salad varieties and apparently had been out for a while as there was a long typed sign on the door of what they didn't have. I asked if they were making more and they said they ran out of chicken. I drove from a distance. There were still people coming in. The management should have known this was a promotion that they do every year and made sure there was enough available or enough chicken to make more. This place is fantastic! There is nothing I love more than good chicken salad, on any day. And this place gives you SO many options. I personally like the Classic Carol, but I can imagine the other ones are so good too! The only thing-- I'm allergic to nuts, so I can't try many of them, however, with how good the Classic Carol is, I can imagine the other ones are just as tasty. I also love their variety of other foods, as they do have good sides to choose from as well as Signature Salads, and a select few sandwiches. I didn't know that Chicken Salad Chick started in Auburn (according to fellow Yelper Paul) and I didn't know that this place even existed until a few months ago. It's located right next door to Best Buy in the Riverchase Village area. I guess I'm always distracted by Best Buy that I never noticed them next door. It's one of those place that look small from the outside, but when you walk in, it's huge. Mainly due to COVID, I have only been ordering out, but there's amply seating and the decor is very inviting and hospitable. There's a large specially designated walkway immediately upon entry that you follow which leads right to the ordering counter. There are refrigerated shelves that hold quick To-Go containers of most of their chicken salads in various sized containers. I never knew there were so many varieties of chicken salad because there's at least 10 different kinds here (with great names) ranging from Lauryn's Lemon Basil, Dixie Chick, Sassy Scotty, Classic Carol, Barbie-Q, Fancy Nancy, Fruitty Fran, Kickin' Kay Lynne to my favorite, Jalapeno Holly. Each chicken salad has it's own unique flavor from it's clever concoction of different ingredients. Never knew chicken salad could be so versatile. But wait, that's not all. They also offer their signature soups made fresh daily such as Loaded potato & brocolli cheese, tomato bisque, chicken tortilla, and chicken florentine. But not all of them every day. Each day of the week has it's own soup. Then they also have some salads, mac n cheese and yummy desserts! As mentioned my favorite is the Jalapeno Holly but I've also tasted Dixie Chick because well... I like onions. The Jalapeno Holly with it's all white meat, shredded chicken, finely minced celery, mayonnaise, their secret seasoning and loaded with diced jalapenos has a little kick! Yom Yom Yom Yom! Chicken Salad Chick checks all the boxes fro a good all-around eatery that caters to most. They are efficient, create great food with reasonable prices and this one located next to Best Buy. Great place to eat. Their lunch is usually packed with the dinner being a much lighter crowd. Restaurant is super clean and the staff is very friendly. I love their Buffaloe Barclay on a croissant. For sides, I got the grape salad, but I really like their pasta salad as well. The cookie that it came with is good. It's a quick in and out meal. I get the chick, but they used to have an entree that came with 2 sides. I'm a hungry guy and usually require a little more to eat. I also wish they would go back to having a cookie of the day. So during work, my best friend and I went to Chicken Salad Chick and our was my first time having them. I can say that they were a welcome lunch change. It was so crowded there were no seats for those in line unless you were willing to wait on someone to finish and leave. I ended up getting my order to go despite originally planning to dine in. 2. I was looking forward to a particular type of chicken salad I had ordered previously at another location and unfortunately they did not have it. Positives 1. Food is quite good. Hence the reason I was looking forward to it from my previous experience. 2. Portion sizes are generous. I ordered "The Chick" 2 scoops of any salad or a sandwich and a scoop of salad. There was plenty to have for lunch the next day with the exception of crackers, pickle spear and cookie. This time I tried the Sassy Scotty (A zesty blend of ranch, bacon & shredded cheddar cheese) & Pimento Cheese (A blend of freshly grated sharp cheddar & pepper jack cheeses combined with just a smidge of our creamy house dressing). I was really looking forward to this location opening since it was more convenient to work, but with the negatives ended up with an average experience. Had I checked the locations menu ahead of time, I could have avoided some of the disappointment by knowing the flavor I was craving wasn't offered. Never imagined that each locations menu was that significantly different. Overall, will I be back? Probably. But if the parking lot is pretty full next time will likely go elsewhere. read more

They literally have over ten different flavors of chicken salad. When we first came here, I had the classic carol on a croissant. It was delicious, one of those meals where you want to savor every bite. It came with a side, a drink and a cookie. The lemonade is amazing. For my side, I got Mac and cheese, which was nothing special but I mostly just got it for my daughter to eat anyway. The cookies are actually "Cheryl's cookies" In their own special packaging, which I am a big fan of. They also have family meals you can get to go, which we opted to do another night while I was staying in Alabama. I also tried the fruity Fran which was equally good. Overall, this is a great place. I love Chicken Salad Chick. I've eaten at almost every one in the greater Birmingham area. I came here to pick up lunch here last week. First of all, the cashier was super friendly and patient. I had seen their new chicken salad flavor Dill-licious Diva and tried it on a toasted wheat sandwich. Dill-licious! The sample I tried was great for any pickle lovers. The hint of dill was perfect for me. On the actual sandwich, the flavor wasn't as apparent however. Slight bummer. I got their pimento cheese as a side. The flavor was also not as amazing as I have had it at their other locations. I remember it as being so delicious I can't stop eating it, but this one was rather plain and I couldn't taste any salt. Their buttercream cookie was the perfect way to wrap up my lunch. Although I did a carry out order (mainly cause of covid right now), their dining area is open as of now. Stopped by today from "Olivia's Old South" and "Kranberry Kelly". The staff was very helpful and took my order quickly at the curbside. Food was delivered within minutes of order. The "Olivia's Old South" is my favorite. It has just enough dill pickles to taste just like that old trusted recipe we grew up with. Also ordered a side of broccoli salad. Fresh broccoli, cheese, crisp bacon and a sweet hint of mayo hits the spot. The cookies are to die for, a fresh sugar cookie with a buttercream icing. I LOVE the chicken salad here ( Buffalo Batclay & Jalapeño Holly are my favs). Pros: The Hoover location is always clean and you get your food pretty fast. Cons: The only thing I'm not fond of is the staffs attitudes. They never seem happy and by being there it's inconveniencing them. Also, not a fan of the pasta salad- very bland. I waited until after the first week to visit this location of Chicken Salad Chick (next door to Best Buy in part of the former Southern Wicker location). Since it's brand new, there were a bunch of people in line. I was so disappointed to not see the Hawaiian chicken salad (which I adored on my first visit at the Lee Branch location), but I decided to try the Lauryn's Lemon Basil in "The Chick" combo. It was SO delicious!! The flavors danced in my mouth and kept me smiling. I had a scoop (no bread) with the broccoli salad. If I didn't have to return to work, I would definitely have taken a pound to go for my fridge. I think this will become a new favorite healthy lunch stop for me. I'm planning to be more open to sampling more of the exotic flavors of chicken salad they carry. This is generally a great place to go for chicken salad. The food is always good. My problem is with the employees. Two employees, working in the back of the store had masks on, however the mask was pulled down and exposed their noses. The young lady working at the cash register also had her mask pulled down, exposing her nose. Beyond this, another young lady, working the other register, was wearing her mask properly, but was wearing plastic gloves while counting change from the register.
