I really love Chicken Shack. I no longer live in Michigan, so it's a real treat when my family has it at get togethers. My boyfriend and I were in town and I had specifically made a plan to come here to get my fix. The guy who took our order looked at us like we were the stupidest people on Earth while we took a minute to look at the menu (with the place totally empty). The dining area was really gross. Grease everywhere and shoe prints all over the seats. While I was stuck on how dirty everything was, my boyfriend couldn't get over the smell. We didn't even finish our food. I used to come here as a kid and eat inside, and I don't remember it ever being like this. read more

I moved to Algonac recently and the closest Chicken Shack is in New Baltimore. I feel like every time I come to this location there's issues. They've screwed my chicken deluxe meals twice. One time by putting bbq on it. And the second time by putting 1 tender on it. I've worked for Chicken Shack years ago. I know how its supposed to be ran. I came today to the New Baltimore location, I called 3 times and no answer. When I pulled up there was one person ordering and 2 people ahead of them waiting. When I pulled up I was asked to hang on. All the cars went thru and were taken care of. I sat for 15 min at the speaker box waiting to for someone to come back. Finally when someone responded again, they were very short with me. I asked for tender dinner bbq and they kept cutting me off and were rude. The inside isn't open, except for carry out, which apparently no one answers the phones, and drive thru only. The line wasn't wrapped around the building. Chicken Shack is one my my family's favorite restaurants. We drive almost 30 min to come here. Im am seriously disappointed with this location. Im unsure if the same owners are still in charge, but I know this is not how Chicken Shack is ran. I've worked at multiple locations. Someone needs to look into this location. While sitting in line, I've watched 7 cars leave the drive thru line because no one was answering them. I pulled up at 6:40 pm. My order was placed at 6:56 and I didn't get my food until 7:20. Let me see... for fast food it is expensive and took about 15 minutes to be cooked while you sit in a restaurant that looks much like a 1970s A&W. The bathrooms have decaying caulk and grout with a general lack of effort in cleaning. The food was sub-par. The chicken is acceptable, but nothing to write home about. The pork chops were cooked within a hair of being usable as breaded hockey pucks. The corn was canned corn smothered in peppered butter. The cole slaw was processed into mush... about the only good things were the potatoes. Another note is that you need to remember not to follow their printed menus since those are "corporate" menus and they don't follow them... nor do they tell you this when you order something they changed. In summary, it was a horrible restaurant, with subpar food and listless service. read more

I listen to the radio and hear the "Sobeck" history and think to myself younger generations of the family should pay closer attention to the "value" that previous generations created. I agree that the taste is good, but the process of "broasted chicken" is good anywhere. We go to the Chesterfield location approximately 3 x p month which averages 36 visits per year. Nothing less that a 12 pc bucket is the order and we generally will order extras. It has been so disappointing to find chicken legs larger on a Cornish game hen rather than the pieces provided in our buckets from Chicken Shack. Even so, we pay the $25+ - $35 (depending on a 12 or 16 pc bucket) to eat Chicken Shack. Today, after calling ahead and having to wait at the drive thru for my 12 pc bucket, I have come to the conclusion that no longer am I going to order Chicken Shack. I used to LOVE the coleslaw and usually ordered a second large (pint at $3.00+a pop) because one would not do the trick for our family of 3. But in today's order the coleslaw was like soup. Watered down to stretch it out, and when I drained it, I had LESS THAN 1/2 OF A PINT!!!! Again the legs in my 12 piece bucket were smaller than a Cornish game hen's and you would need to eat 5 legs to satisfy a 5 year olds appetite. Sadly, I must say I am disappointed at the steady decline on the value that this Company offers. I am not naive to the challenges of running a business in today's economy, ( I have one of my own) but I have come to the conclusion if you are going to raise prices than justify by holding portions and quality otherwise there is no reason to pay more money for less. read more

My husband and I try to support local businesses at every opportunity. On Wednesday December 16, 2015 we chose to support the local Chicken Shack by ordering our meal and making the 15 minute drive from our home to pick it up. We are not new customers and have ordered from this establishment for years, my husband really likes the ribs. On this particular evening when we returned home and unpacked the meal, we found that the potatoes were not included. This is not the first time we have had food items we'd ordered not included when packaged from this particular business, and it is simply our wish to continue to support local businesses that we returned again and again. We chose to call Chicken Shack and make them aware that we did not receive our full order. The solution offered by Chicken Shack, to drive back to pick up the potatoes or choose to put our name on the list and get extra potatoes on our next order. My husband and I have decided not to choose to further support this local business based upon the following: 1) The staff does not check to make sure the order is complete as ordered and paid for. 2) Point # 1 is an ongoing problem supported by the fact that this business keeps a list is kept that customers can opt put their names on so that on future orders they can receive what they had paid for on past orders. 3) The owner would rather employ young adults he can pay a minimum wage rather that a store manager who would make sure that points # 1 & 2 are a non-issue. 4) This business is run by young adults who do not possess the authority to take care of customer complaint without the fear of their job being in jeopardy, hence the lack or authority to rectify. One can only blame the owner for all of the above. read more

I had the ribs from the 11 mile and Schoenherr Rd a couple weeks ago. They were very disappointing, they were dried out and crunchy. I recently had them from the 23 mile location I am so glad I decided to give the ribs a second chance and went to this location. They were delicious. The ribs were flavorful, moist, tender and I loved the sauce. Service was fast and friendly. I will definitely return to this location. read more

The employee helping me and my girlfriend turned around and stared at his coworkers for two minutes while we tried to pay. Didn't seem very attentive to us, also tried calling and over the phone she kept trying to rush me, and kept interrupting me. Not very good customer service in my opinion. read more

To honor the Brand "Chicken Shack" as a customer I try to eat there a couple of times a month. I live at Hall and North Ave so the one closest to me is west, but I chose to go to this one instead!!! Bad idea!!! First and most importantly this place is so dirty. Greasy rags all over the floor in the kitchen area, and a cart on the floor full of them too. Staff that can't wipe down a table or a high chair for that matter and when asked to produce a cleaning rag for their high chair, the manager said to grab a handy wipe from the condiment rack!! Are you telling your customers to clean the place themselves??? So I did!! Losers!!! We order and it is for 2 adults and one 10 year old and one baby... 47.00 and change!!! What did we get for this... glad you asked... 5 chicken breast... one order of broasted potatoes thick with grease and not butter... two kids chicken tender meals and 4 drinks!!!! No Kidding!!!! This is the biggest rip off in the history of Chicken Joints!!!! I could have gotten a family feast at KFC for that money with 5 large sides and 20 pieces of chicken!!! Anyway... that isn't the worst part... cooks were arguing with counter staff, managers did nothing to rescue the kitchen, customers were piling up in the drive thru and the line inside... our wait time was 30 minutes!!!! Then as I stood there a group of teenagers enter, order from their friend behind the register, and get their food in less then 5 minutes!!! Now some other orders started coming up short with food because the order taker, stole the food for her friends from everyone else who was waiting for their food. This place was a disaster!! Then something started to burn in the kitchen, and the place filled with heavy smoke and no one did anything about it!!!! We got our food finally and then the magic happened. We all got sick!!!! and are still sick 2 days later!!!! Flys all over the lobby and tables, garbage on the floor and a staff that is in disarray... I will never eat at this Expensive nightmare Shack again... wish 11 and Schoenherr were closer!!! Close this one down!!! read more

This place is dirty, the food is bland and boring, and every employee I encountered seemed disinterested and put out. Never, ever, again.

Went through the drive thru at 8:00 at night when nobody was in line or in the store. It took 5 minutes for them to even acknowledge we were there. Once we finally got someone to say hello it they told us to "hold on". After another 5 minutes I was about to leave before they took our order. Place is a joke. We ordered our food and waited for about 25minutes at the drive through(nobody in front of us), no one bothered to even check or tell us it was a long wait. So I decided to go inside to see what was the problem. I stand there and watch as the 6 kids working there(4 cooks male and 2 girls working counter) throw chicken around and horseplay right where they suppose to be cooking. They didn't even notice me standing there for a good 2 minutes. Then they try to tell me there really busy but no customers in the store except one person and me. I ask for my money back and they some guy comes out from the back and tells me "I can leave now" I told them they have horrible customer service and I will leave when they give me my money back. They did refund me. Couldn't find any info on who owns this place otherwise I would have told them myself. Someone needs to inspect this place or get rid of horrible management. This place is disgusting. I worked there for three years and I'm going to tell you a few things I witnessed. This kid Kyle Nadon spit in someone's food. When I told my boss Eric Nilsson about this he didn't seem to care, he even chuckled about it. Just to prove he didn't care he even hired the kid back a few weeks later after he quit. No one washes their hands. I'm the only one there that washed their hands as many times as I could throughout the day. It smells of sick mold right as you walk in and gets worse as you go towards the women's bathroom. Believe me there is mold everywhere. Idk how the Heath department has not noticed. But they do a pretty good job of cleaning right before she comes. So once a year. In between that it's nasty. The kitchen manager sandy cutshaw is old and doesn't realize how many times I've found her hair in the chicken. If you want free food just make sure to complain to Rebekah jones. If you yell at her a little she'll pretty much give you anything you want. And just to make it clear to whoever reads this, I was fired for calling out my boss on never showing up. If you want Chicken shack that bad just drive a little further to a different one. You can thank me later. read more
