I'm dog sitting for a friend on this side of town and needed a quick dinner that wasn't to far from where I was staying. I chose chicken shack because it was close and the other place I wanted to eat at seemed a bit busy so I came here instead. I've had chicken shack before, and haven't really been back because I didn't really like it that much. I figured I'd give it a try again since it's been a while to see how it was after a few years of not eating here. The menu has a decent selection of items to choose from and obviously it's all chicken. I went with the two piece chicken meal that came with a side and a drink. The total bill was about $17.00 and it was a good amount of food. The food here was good and better than I remember. Was it life changing? NO. But, I did enjoy my meal and had a good time while here. Thee staff here was really in the groove of working not only the counter but the drive thru as well. I enjoyed how efficiently they were working. Not a bad place for a quick dinner when you need something on the fly. Overall decent but wouldn't go out of my way. read more

They changed their chicken from roasted chicken to this thick coating. If you like a lot of breading on your tenders and no meat, this is the place to go I don't know why they would mess with perfection, I am so extremely disappointed. Chicken shack is always a great go to if you want to show up with chicken for a party. It's gotten a little pricey. I paid $30 for a 15 piece tenders. Chicken shack has gone down in quality and quantity from a few years ago. Chicken is now much smaller pieces, not coated as well for the same price. I couldn't believe $37 for a full slab of ribs and just had similar at Texas Roadhouse for $28! We ordered in a 12 piece tub through Grubhub, and upon delivery it was missing 2 pieces of dark meat (a leg and a thigh). I called the store right away and after being put on hold, I was told that we have to call Grubhub about the missing chicken. Either they didn't count right, or our delivery girl took two pieces out and ate them, but which is more likely? Where is the accountability? We bought $50 worth of chicken and sides, and not only were two pieces missing, but we also found some feathers still on our chicken. I usually pick it up myself, but my husband ordered through GrubHub. I suggest that if you are ordering from them that you pick it up yourself as well because there is no accountability if your order is incomplete. Used to love chicken shack. Literally went out of comfort zone to eat out during this time. I should have known better. Food was terrible. Spent a great deal of money plus gave a tip for them working during pandemic. Very dissatisfied I ordered the chicken ribs combo. Chicken dry as heck ribs were just ok. Chicken Shack isn't just for chicken. While many people go there to get chicken, and I do get it there occasionally, there are things there that I like even better. The ribs for one, tasty and fall off the bone. You can't beat that. I also like their fish dinners. I get a fish sandwich there at least once a month, you have to wait a little bit longer for them because they make it to order. But it is worth it because they are delicious. One thing people don't seem to know, is that if you don't want all that butter on top of your potatoes, you can ask them not to put it on. I have heard people complain about them being too buttery. Well, there is a solution for that. In all the years of going to Chicken Shack, the one thing I have not tried or their pork chops. I think that's going to have to change. Very poor treatment by Anthony Cooper the assistant mgr on Saturday afternoon. My order was messed up the potatoes were not extra well done nor was the bbq sauce that I paid for in the bag. I called the order in and went in to pick it up. I went out of my way to go to chicken shack, I paid $12 for my meal. I was told as I walked out everything was in the bag. When I got to work no sauce was in the bag I called to see how they were going to compensate me and he said he'd give me 2sauces not good enough. Used to eat chicken shack every Friday with my family for roughly 25 years. The 11 mile and schoenherr location has completely stopped this tradition. The food is almost always over cooked or fried twice. The line is unbearable because they refuse to open the lobby. Once you get your food if it is wrong or not eatable now your subject to wait in the again unbearably long line to get it fixed. This is not the chicken shack South eastern Michigan has grown to love. It's obviously not the original owners who cared about their customer base it's a investor who is looking to try and squeeze the money out of the business with shotty management which breeds bad employees and drives good customers away. read more

Chicken Shack has been a staple in our neighborhood for decades. Over the years, I have often order party trays of their chicken, buttery potatoes and coleslaw. You know its a good party when Chicken Shack arrives! haha For some reason, this past week, both of us have been craving chicken sandwiches. I suggested my most favorite sandwich from the shack, BBQ Chicken Sandwich with a side of fries. He is not a fan of Chicken Shack for some strange reason. Luckily for me, he was willing to give them another try. We both were starving, and inhaled our sandwiches. I am happy to report, he truly enjoyed his sandwich. If you haven't tried their BBQ Chickens sandwich, you have been missing out in life! They most certainly do not scrimp on the meat. The meat falls off this sandwich. It is perfectly cooked with most delicious sauce, mayo and lettuce. They wrap the sandwiches in foil which gives them a perfectly steamed bun! I enjoy their fries and the taste of their coleslaw, too. Chicken Shack has a great menu! I also enjoy ordering their fried mushrooms served with ranch and their ribs are delicious, too! I really like chicken shack, love the BBQ sasuce, but lately, my chicken tenders are so brown and over fried, it breaks my teeth just to take a bite. I wonder if any of the cooks read these reviews or any one from there, but try eating your own cooking once in a while. They are fried so hard they are about non edible. read more

I almost hesitate to tell everyone about the ribs at chicken shack for fear of the possibility of the crush of customers buying it and there won't be any left for me!!! The meaty ribs fall off the bone and the sauce is thick and abundant. Highly recommend the ribs and of course the broasted potatoes dripping with the seasoned butter. I must be honest....I have never had chicken there. The ribs are the best!! I have never had a bad experience there. The staff is friendly and efficient. Chicken Shack takes pride in its broiled chicken, as it should. It's some of the tastiest chicken around. They have a weird way of straddling a line between fast food and restaurant-style. You'll be served, but you'll also use plastic knives and forks to eat with. There's a certain charm in that. Don't expect the chicken here to be over seasoned. That sort of stuff is reserved for places like KFC. What I liked best about CS was that I could actually taste what I was eating instead of just tasting spices. It's this reason that I think A-1 sauce is the dumbest idea ever. All their sides are quality as well. Surprisingly enough, they do a lot of the same things as KFC and Church's, only not out of pouches; they do it from scratch. Mashed potatoes for example! They do have fish, but I've never tried it. There's something inherently wrong with having fish at... Chicken Shack. As a kid, we loved this place from the moment we saw it. As teenagers, we hung out the windows of my first car and screamed at it, as if it were a rock star (no, I'm not kidding). Looking back, I'm not surprised I had such a strong reaction. On the outside of the building, it does advertise seafood, chicken, and ribs. I say all this to say, we did not order chicken. We ordered a catfish dinner and a shrimp dinner with French fries. I have not been here for years. I was in the mood for Ribs so I stopped by. I walked in , only a couple of people in the dining area and the front was empty, The lady who took my order was professional but a little robotic, The cooks look like they did not want to be there But they did not short me on the Rib bones or their Broasted potatoes ( Yum & Thanx guys ) The dining room was pretty clean but there was a short time of fighting 2 small Nat's at my plate then they went on there way, they do give free refills on pop. Visiting Michigan from California. My First time to chicken shack. Heard some good things about it but sources were from few years ago or more. Went thru the drive thru and got 4 piece dinner w fries and small broasted potatoes. Broasted potatoes were hot and soft and pretty good and full of butter. Fries were decent . The chicken.... nothing special. Not very fresh or hot. It was crispy And not very flavorful. Over cooked and dry would describe it best. I would stick with KFC or Popeyes any day. Completely disappointed in my experience. I placed an order for carry out so young lady told me about 15-20 minutes to pick it up which is no problem. But when I got there 10 minutes to 9 I couldn't walk in and pick up my carry out I had to wait in line to go through the drive thru, when I pulled up and said I have an order for a carry out they told me they would get with me when they could. I had to wait in the drive thru line for 25 minutes, my food was lukewarm, I've never had such a horrible experience here. maybe next time I'll come to drive to another location and hope for a better experience. read more

The BBQ sauce here is what makes the chicken. If you are ordering BBQ though, request that the sauce be baked on. If not, they often just spread it across finished chicken and it doesn't have the same caramelized taste as when it is cooked on. The broasted potatoes are different and pretty good. It is a bit pricey, but honestly there aren't many places around here that compare, so they get away with it. read more
