The shrimp boil epic fail. Late night maybe the cook was tired and didn't notice he knocked the entire jar of ole bay seasoning into my dish. Chickie's and Pete's on Delilah Road is a seafood lover's win The lobster fries were outstanding. The crab leg seasoning was bold and addictive. The fried shrimp and the sautéed seafood were cooked perfectly. Easily one of the best seafood meals I have had in a long time. They are setting the standard in the industry, not just keeping pace. I really liked the setup of the restaurant. The layout was open, the big screens were everywhere, and there was very little Eagles memorabilia, which was a relief. Now for the downsides. The lighting was terrible and made the space feel cold. Our waiter was a bit slow, which affected the flow of service. The biggest letdown was the lack of birthday recognition. Even after submitting a note in advance, there was no mention of it. They should offer guests the option to prepay for a slice of cake or another simple way to make celebrations feel special. I ordered the Lobster Philly cheesesteak thinking it was good but turned out to be awful. I did not like it and just ate probably 5 bites not even half of the sandwich. What a pleasant surprise! Frankly, in the times we live in pleasant surprises are something we all deserve to experience from time to time and that was exactly what the Mays Landing Chickies and Pete's gave us! We rolled in because we saw the outdoor tent after being unceremoniously being told by a neighboring restaurant that their table with two chairs could not accommodate a third chair even though two similar tables had 3 and 4 diners seated around them. We needed some socially distanced live blended with satisfying food ... guess what? We were welcomed with a mask covered smile but the eyes revealed the smile and her words said you are VERY WELCOME HERE! It is true Chickie and Pete's is not gourmet focused but warm and comfortable and tasty almost led us to almost forget the other place ... we won't be heading taco shopping there any time soon. lol (I said they were almost forgotten.). The prices were right .. the tent with heaters provided the social distance we need in these times we live in. But, when we considered a return visit the tent was gone and based on clientele we saw going into the main bar area. So a star fell off and will wait for our next visit. We had lunch here at 12pm on a Sunday, Kelly was our server, she was friendly and attentive. We got the grilled chicken sandwich, Cobb salad, regular and sweet potato crab fries. The sandwich was cold and just ok, not great, the greens and small amount of chicken were weird and not enjoyable. The fries were way too salty. College students love it here but I'm not a fan. Small servings, small drink sizes, high prices, sub par taste. Service is good. I finally figured out the strategy for this restaurant, they only pop up around college campuses from what I could see so far. They serve crab fries, seriously? They are french fries seasoned with old Bay. I think. There isnt any crab on the fries. College students like the taste. The menu is a college students dream with the selections that they have. Not for a regular eater like me. The sandwiches are small and you will be hungry after you eat one. They expect you to order crab fries with your meal, which of course I didn't because i'm not in college and I know how bad they are for you. Ordered a few cocktails and they were the smallest drinks I've ever seen at full price. I remember they were very few food selections for an adult to enjoy. The service is great though I don't want to say anything bad about the service here. My boyfriend and I are large seafood enthusiasts. We were hungry after work on a Sunday evening and decided to try this place; it was one of few options open after 10. The atmosphere is that of a buffalo wild wings crossed with your local bar. Friendly people, wait staff and cleaning staff. There are large screens playing multiple different sports (seasonal) and even bowling! Atmosphere is pretty solid, however the menu and food are both confusing and [at best] average. I've been to many a seafood restaurant--I'm not counting calories. The portion sizes were disappointing, especially considering our bill's final price. I have linked both a picture of one of our appetizers as well as the receipt. We ordered 4 food items and two soft drinks. First item we ordered was the classic ultimate fries (with crab meat). They were very delicious, and the garlic sauce is a nice touch. Pretty good bang for your buck seeing as the crab is likely fresh. Then we had asked our waitress what the price looked like for an order of crab cakes. They were not on the menu (from what we saw) and when we asked the waitress, she didn't seem to know the price or where they would be on the menu [either.] For whatever reason, she did not tell us they were $26.99. That is not a good look for this restaurant. She did not even confirm that we had wanted them, I assume she just put them through. We ate them, and they were above average, however $26.99 for (3) crab cakes is outrageous. I have been a server myself, and I understand the frustration/annoyance of picky customers, however zero clarification was provided for us. She was a lovely girl, and I'm sure it was just late and a simple mistake. That being said, we would not have ordered the crab cakes given we were aware of the price. For entrees we ordered the fried shrimp and pork belly tacos. Extremely disappointed by both of these options. Fried shrimp were ok. Slightly burnt, and only 6 in the order for $13.99. Cocktail sauce seemed store bought. Absolutely below average. The pork belly tacos were just okay. $14.99 for three tacos. No rice, no beans, no side dish. That makes them $5 tacos, which is, again, obscure. Tortillas were clearly store bought. By no means do we settle for shitty seafood, however in a scene such as this restaurant, they teeter on the line between bar food and casual dining--both of which I am seasoned in. These environments have room for flexibility in both price range as well as menu clarification. I have severe allergies, and thank god I did not have any complications. The ingredients aren't listed for most of the items. Instead there are "trendy" slogans and made-up words which provide zero insight as to what the hell you are ordering. A standout example is the word "garlicky." As someone who was excited to try this restaurant, I am thoroughly disappointed. As someone who has worked in the restaurant industry for my entire adolescent and adult life--I'm even more disappointed. Servers should know the prices of the food they are selling, and the menu should have more detail (or any at all for that matter.) We will not be returning. read more

It is what you'd expect of a chain. Lively bar area and big screen tvs. Food was just okay with a hefty price tag. Ultimate crab fries was $17+ and portion was small. The crab and sauce was good on top of frozen crinkle fries. Service was friendly but maybe overwhelmed. Had to ask for new silverware as my set had dried food on it. Also asked for straws and was given 1 so had to ask again. Was surprised they don't give out wet naps especially when we ordered crab legs and a seafood sautee. I came here for lunch on a Sunday afternoon with a group of 8 people. The place was very spacious and they had plexiglass partitions on all the booths during COVID-19 times. We ordered 2 crabfries appetizers, 2 fried calamari appetizers, the shareable wings appetizer (half buffalo, half BBQ), and 2 Crabfeasts (snow crab, Dungeness crab, blue crab, corn). The fries were crispy and hot. The calamari was a bit soggy but I enjoyed the spicy peppers. The wings were juicy and large. The Crabfeast was a good deal since you get a lot of crab for $59.99. The crab was well seasoned and juicy. The corn tasted old though. Service was fast and friendly even though we had a large group. I would come back if I'm ever in the area. read more

We are visiting from out of town and my mom wanted seafood. We came here based on my uncle's Google search. First thing you should know is that there are no sides, only appetizers they encourage you to order a la carte. That gets pricey so if you're on a budget, etc., think twice or consider sharing. My toddler LOVED the Mac n cheese crab balls. I enjoyed my fried shrimp, wings and "crab fries" though for the price, the fries were u remarkable save for the Velveeta for dipping. We also ordered mussels, shrimp tacos and a pork sandwich. We ended up canceling the pork sandwich because it is the restaurant's policy that they do not have an expediter. This was per our server, who explains that food comes out as it's prepared, not in order and not at once. The end result was, my uncle's food was still not done cooking by the time we had already tucked in to our meal. The waitress gave a timing update but by then he was too aggravated to keep waiting so he canceled altogether. Since you can't possibly know which stations are slammed because the kitchen is closed, you're taking a big risk on whether you get to eat with your party depending on what you order. This was enough to turn my family off the restaurant. If you don't mind eating your food after everyone else is done, it's not a problem. Again, according to our server, "Some people love it." I've personally never known anyone who likes to eat after everyone else, or anyone who likes to eat cold food out of manners and waiting, BUT I've never been a server so perhaps I'm wrong. She said she had been gone for six days and upon her return today, management reiterated that the food is served as it's cooked. Also, they do have crab and mussels but I would brand those more of a sports bar than a seafood restaurant, personally. I tried to order a margarita made with blue Curaçao, she told me she didn't think she had that so I ordered a pomegranate margarita if she didn't have What I asked for. And then I saw blue Curaçao on the menu but the waitress said there was no button for it. I ordered their famous next basket of fries and the sweet potato fries were so burned I could not eat them! I was in the Mays Landing area and wanted a bite for lunch. I had seen Chickie and Pete's at the Tropicana in Atlantic City and also in some more touristy spots in Philly, so I thought that I should try them out at this location. Turns out it still had a corporate and sterile feel. My cheesesteak was just blah. It did not come with fries or any side at all. That's not good for a Philadelphia / South Jersey regional chain. 3 Stars instead of 2 because they do have a very wide selection of South Jersey beers to choose from. My complaint, however, is that they are very expensive. (I know how much craft beer is supposed to cost.) And the glass sizes are small. I ended up only ordering just that one, and I did not feel as if I was enjoying myself freely. The bartender was also very experienced and friendly. Recent visit on 06/12/21: DISAPPOINTING. The previous reviews of the best roast beef sandwiches in south New Jersey are no longer valid. This sandwich is now reviewed as JUNK. The roast beef lacks a lot of it's original taste. The worst part, the roast beef is now sliced the same thickness as Taylor's Pork Roll. Far too thick. It's no longer the delicious ultra paper thin sliced roast beef. Don't even waste your time ordering this one. Maybe we'll visit again in the distant for a re-review. Good service we came with a big party but I wouldn't say the food was the best. I got a clam chowder and the clams were sandy. I will say the fries were all crispy and delicious though.
