After 2 quotes from Kia dealers, I ended up at Chico's Station to fix my Sorento alternator. The aftermarket alternator and the labor prices were the best. I left it overnight. It was finished by 11:30 the next day. Obviously, I'm extremely happy with them. Also, if you don't want to get out of the car, Chico's, still has full-service gas pumps. read more

These guys are the best! Since I've moved to MA in 2012 they have completed all the work I have needed done on my 2008 Jeep Wrangler . They do all my safety inspections, oil changes, I needed new brake pads and even the heating core in my Jeep went and they fixed it quicker and for a much more reasonable price than what I was expecting. They even recommended someone else to go to the one time I asked about something they would have to up-charge me for because they didn't handle it in house. You are looking at a natural born skeptic ... from auto repairmen to foreign cab drivers I walk through the world thinking anyone that can rip you off will. HOWEVER, I have to say that Chico's completely floored me in this department. Nate was INCREDIBLY friendly. My old buick had a big issue with engine skipping and would not go over 40 without it feeling like it was gonna die!!! Saddens me to assign one star, but I must. I'd taken my vehicles to this station for several years. Always had a great experience and outcome with Wally as my mechanic. But, last summer when I returned to pick up my car post-service, the attendant at the register was incredibly disrespectful towards me (and this was not the first time). I politely confronted him and asked that he demonstrate respect towards me as a customer. Well, he responded in an incredibly animated, hostile manner. Perhaps one of the most needlessly aggressive, unfortunate customer service experiences ever. I've not been back since. Why am I writing about this now? My car required service yesterday and I did not feel comfortable returning to the station. I did, however, find another station that was outstanding (I'll give the establishment a 5-star review shortly). Pleased to report that the outcome was excellent -- from fixing the issues efficiently at a fair price -- to demonstrating basic respect. read more

In this business, it is rare to find a shop that is a) convenient; b) friendly; c) honest; and d) competent. Chico's Sunoco is all of the above. Nate and Wally do it by knowing their customers and knowing their customers' vehicles. Wary of Fresh Pond Mobil and having been burned by Mass Ave Gulf (Junior is a nice guy but sometime made some costly mistakes for me), I started getting inspections done at Chico's and found that they did not search for a way to charge me for something I didn't need. When they found work that needed to be done, they thought about the least painful way to get it done and let me in on their cost-benefit analysis. They will know your names and your cars and quote reasonable prices for quality work which they will stand behind. Get another quote and it Chico's will be in the ballpark or less. If you want aftermarket parts to save money, they will use those but will also order the factory parts if you want too. They are very busy but almost always seem to finish up their work in a day. I wouldn't necessarily trust my high end vehicle with these guys, but for your Toyotas, Hondas, Fords, GMs, Nissans, I think they offer good value . I only wish Nate didn't smoke in the shop. read more

I have always had great experiences here! They are honest and fair, do excellent work and will patiently explain things if you don't understand. Walid (Waleed?) or "Wally" stayed late to fix extra things for me for FREE and gave me his cell phone number if I needed to reach him. I see some other reviewers have been very put off by the (admittedly pretty grouchy) cashier. BUT the overall customer service and quality is so good that tolerating a very brief interaction with him in order to pay for your service is WELL worth it. That man is obviously someone's older relative who is helping out. Highly recommend!! read more

Do not go here to get your car serviced! I got my brakes done in January and the mechanics bent the backing plate behind the rotors and I was left with a seriously horrific noise for months. I then went to get it fixed and was met with animosity by the owner and serious sexist comments. Terrible. read more

Been to this station for tire work and for an inspection. When I had an issue with my inspection (on an issue I suspected) they stayed late to take care of it. Each time their pricing has seemed fair and honest. I don't feel like I'm coming in for something and then leave with a $600 bill and surprise work done on my car like at some other places. read more

I don't know about you, but I don't usually leave a car repair shop smiling and feeling relieved. Well, I left Chico's with my car running smoothly and feeling like I was treated fairly and with respect. I had my last car inspected here when I first moved to Mass last year. For reasons that I cannot explain, I didn't return when I needed to have work done until I had been ripped off at Cambridge Honda and let down over at Aladdin. My car was overheating and had a leak in the cooling system. They replaced the leaky radiator and while they were at it looked over a handful of other concerns that I had about the car for no extra charge. I told Nate that I was concerned about the clutch, the AC wasn't quite working right, and I wanted him to check the idle. He actually took the time to look at all these things and instead of making an easy buck, he was completely honest and told me that I didn't really have much to worry about. The clutch was fine - the floor mat had just gotten shoved up underneath it too far and that was causing shifting to be a little rough. The idle was within the normal range. And the AC, (which you can read a manifesto about if you see my review on Cambridge Honda), can probably be fixed for 2- or $300 and doesn't need a new compressor for $1000 like I had been told elsewhere. These guys are great, and I'll definitely be returning the next time my car needs some TLC. read more

They are so friendly. Got my tire change there last months. The service is fast and they helped order the exact tire in 3 days. The labor charge here is slightly lower than charging in VW (Original Manufacturer). I pass by today for tire check again, and they remembered me. They even check the engine battery for me and everything is done in an professional way. Also, they wont push you to change anything if it is unnecessary. For example, i also ask there advice on changing windshield or not; the guy advice me not to change since it is not necessary. Awesome place for your car check. Nate and Wally are some of the nicest guys I've ever met. They've provided our family with years of reliable, honest service. We recently moved out of state and really miss having them as our neighborhood mechanics... it was a pleasure doing business with them on many different cars, over many years. They know the name of my kids and my dog, they'd ask about my family. They always stopped to say hi when I filled up with gas. I went here this afternoon for an auto inspection. These guys are really very nice, friendly and helpful -- quick service and efficient. Here's the kicker -- I asked the service man for advice on repairing a license plate mount. He took a quick look, went and got a bolt, and fixed it on the spot, no charge. Awesome. This is not a review on their service (so please disregard the rating) but an FYI: The Chico's Sunoco and Fresh Pond Mobil a block away are run by the same people. The other day I made a mistake of getting an estimate from FPM and going over to Chico's a week later for another opinion. I didn't ask but they should probably have told me. I'm not sure if I overpaid (comparison shopping takes time) or they did a poor job (only time will tell). Apparently I was mistaken but I'm not retracting my comment because I believe it's a meaningful information. Here is a response from Nate I've received: This is Nate from Chico's Sunoco.. I read your review on FPM and Chico's Sunoco's Yelp site. I need to clarify that even though Elie and I are brothers, the businesses are separate. Ownership is NOT the same. Yes they are very friendly and social, and I thought I finally found the ultimate shop. But they messed up, big time. Over the years I've had 2 expensive repairs done (besides small stuff that they do pretty well), that turned out to be a total waste of money. - Timing belt replacement, it was installed in a way that it's rubbing on one side against a sharp cornered metal piece. Had to be redone or risk the costs of a major engine head/piston overhaul. - Shock replacement, while they were at it, they wanted to replace the drive shaft on one side because the CV was leaking grease. They installed a wrong axle, causing new leaks and wasting a much higher quality OEM axle on which the CV boot could have been replaced but that's rather time consuming. - Buffing one of the headlights (slightly foggy) without asking first. I did not pay for this but they damaged the body paint around it. - Over torquing lug nuts, which is dangerous. Bolts could loosen up or snap. I assume they don't work with torque specs at all if you don't even properly torque down an important part like a wheel. - Exhaust repair, it was too expensive for me at the time to replace the catalytic-converter, so they suggested to replace it with a straight pipe. Cheap but illegal! - They make a big point about using quality replacement parts. It is really frustrating to find out afterwards that they don't. I'm not a mechanic so how do I know the technical stuff? Because the repaired parts started to fail again after a year or so and I studied hard on car forums to make sure my new mechanic was not just talking crap about other mechanics. I understand not everything that they do is bad, someone else can have a totally different experience than me. But to me all those plaques on walls don't mean a thing anymore. Richard read more

I can't say enough about the service I've received over the last few years from Wally. He does reliable work and doesn't bs for extra money. He is very fair and reasonably priced. I've never had to bring my car back after he's fixed it. He is friendly and honest and really goes above and beyond for his customers. He usually can get a job done in just a day. He is really great with all cars, I have an infiniti which not every mechanic is efficient and servicing. I get hives everytime I need to deal with mechanics and such. I have no idea if they are totally ripping me off or taking me for a ride, so when it came time to get my exhaust fixed I shopped around and these guys were not only the cheapest but the nicest. Love them. Agree 100% that the mechanics at Chico's Sunoco do not condescend to their customers. I brought my car in for inspection and the mechanic who took the keys from me came walking in to say "are you possibly due for an oil change?" I blanched a bit, how could they know?!?!?, and admitted that I likely was due... "No problem, it'll be a few extra minutes". No lecture, no scolding, no guilt trips... he just took care of it and was completely honest that it only took a couple extra minutes! I go to these guys for every oil change, inspection and little car question that comes my way. read more
