When you're in the mood for something specific, it's worth the stop. ...hotdog, jumbo burger, fries and tacos

Since Chico's Tacos is an El Paso tradition, we decided to stop by with some family for their first time. It was also my first time in more than two years. We pulled the best kind of stop - a late night one. I had the King Size Hot Dog and a Single Order of Tacos. As always, it was delicious and comforting. Now granted, these tacos are a unique twist on Mexican dishes, so it may not be what you expect. Additionally, I did have difficulty explaining to my cousin what exactly are Chico's tacos. But nonetheless, it definitely is a unique experience for something you can only find in El Paso.

OMG- so went back to the 915 for a short visit. Straight off the plane- 10:30 am- where did we go? CHICOS baby!!! Those rolled tacos with crispy fries and of course a diet- is to die for. My SIL has never been to EP and wanted him to experience what the natives all rave about. We did have to show him how to use his fork to pick up the tacos and spread that delish green sauce on them. There's nothing better than coming back to EP after 8 yrs and heading over to one of the places that make EP great.

Single Order & King Hot Dog (salsa verse included)

Clean restaurant, unique, local experience. SINGLE ORDER: These are the rolled flautas or taquitos in a bath of watered down tomato sauce & topped with shredded cheese. The flavor is a hard 7/10. They could stand to reduce the sauce bath by about 50% because the soggier the tacos get, the messier they become. And it's not like the sauce "makes" the dish. It's more of a complement. KING HOT DOG: This is a split chili dog in burger format with pickles & mustard. Uniquely tasty & expectedly difficult to keep together. I ditched the top bun & folded the bottom part like a taco b/c it was too much bread for me. SERVICE: Polite & expeditious for a Sunday afternoon. I recommend Chico's Tacos for those seeking experience & tradition or a cure for their hangover.

Personally, I don't really enjoy fritos and that's what the shell tastes like. Everything else was actually fine. If you don't fritos, beware. The customer service was good and we felt welcomed. If you don't like fritos btw, it tastes better if you let it soak.

4 stars for the nostalgia of eating at Chico's since I was a little girl, minus 1 star for lack of customer service. Growing up in the City, Chico's is a staple in town. No matter what time of day you visit, at any location, it's always busy and non stop. Now, if you're not from El Paso keep in mind that these rolled up tacos in tomato sauce are definitely an acquired taste, in fact many locals aren't fans. A typical order for most is a single order of "tacos" some fries and either a burger or grilled cheese on the side, this is my go to order. But my absolute favorite are the round hot dogs, so good. Over the years the prices have gone up, which is understandable, but a family of three used to be able to eat here for $13ish dollars, not its more like $25 depending on what your order. Even with the lack of good customer service and messy tables/floors, this will not keep locals away, it's what we love and enjoy.

Know what your getting. Wildly popular with locals, but an acquired taste. Chicos is low budget and El Chuco all the "wey".

Their tacos are not the same. Cheap cheese and watered down sauce is not the same from past out of town visits.

It's a little hard to find tucked back in a little strip center. The inside is interesting decor with different theme walls. What was nice is that the staff was very friendly. It was close to closing time so we ordered fast and got our chips and salsa quickly. Loved the homemade chips and that they were still warm. Salsa was ok. I liked my fajitas but I wasn't as blown away with the taste as my co-worker. I had a few pieces of meat that had grizzle when I bit into them. It wasn't as seasoned as I was hoping too. The beans and rice were ok but didn't appear scratch made.

Beans and rice on the side are optional / modest extra charge - they are usually very good and worth adding if you're hungry enough. My favorite sauce is the Chipotle. It's got heat as it's also creamy...I would call it medium (I like spicy food.) If you're getting them to go, you might want the sauce and toppings on the side. They usually ask about that, but occasionally they might forget. Service is usually friendly and efficient even when they are busy. Your food is made to order, so it's fast but not instantaneous. Allow 5-10 minutes for pickup most of the time. The dining room is medium-sized. I would say it's a place to eat and go, not stay and linger.

While the food was never the primary…read morereason I returned, the excellent margaritas and outstanding service kept me coming back for nearly two decades. Unfortunately, that loyalty came to an end after a recent experience that was both disappointing and unacceptable. My family and I chose this restaurant to celebrate a birthday. Every guest paid separately, and there were no issues during the evening itself. However, as the event concluded, multiple attendees, including family members and in-laws, overheard servers making derogatory comments about our party. Among the remarks were that we were "ungrateful," "cheap," and "broke," along with other inappropriate comments that no customer should ever have to hear. I brought the matter to the attention of ownership, hoping for a meaningful resolution. While I was told the employees had been reprimanded, the proposed remedy was a $25 gift card. After nearly 18 years of patronage, the response felt dismissive and only added insult to injury. What disappoints me most is not simply the behavior of the staff, but the lack of accountability and concern shown afterward. This was a place I once considered a reliable and welcoming destination for family gatherings and celebrations. Sadly, that trust has been lost. As a result, I will no longer be returning or recommending this establishment to friends, family, or colleagues. Respect for customers should be a fundamental part of any hospitality business, and in this case, that standard was not met.

The food arrived within about 10 minutes for our group of six, which was impressive. The complimentary fried tortillas were very good, and the salsa was enjoyable as well. I ordered al pastor tacos. I actually poured some of the bean soup into a bowl so we could serve ourselves to avoid some spilling. The baked potatoes were generously bathed in butter. They did not provide any other toppings for the potatoes. Personally I think some sour cream, or Mexican crema de la Mesa, some chives, some other toppings would have been nice. The queso fundido was good but also a disappointment. It was missing the chorizo that I had paid extra for. The meat was very good. Well done but not dry or hard to chew. I was pleased to see that the chicken was not cooked into dryness. We did come across a couple of meat grisel or what in Spanish is called "nervio". Looking back, El Cometa is what started my taco obsession. Their tacos al pastor con queso are so good. The marinated pork is perfectly seasoned, a little greasy in the best way, and topped with melted cheese. One thing I love is their salsa bar. I always grab the red salsa, green salsa, and guacamole. I pile all three on my tacos, and every bite is amazing. Their tacos remind me of my favorite tacos at the resort my family visited every summer in Cancún. Even though it has been years since I have been there, El Cometa brings those memories back with every bite. The staff is incredible. Last summer, the hostess recognized me right away and seated me immediately. She even remembered my order. I order the exact same thing every visit: tacos and two cans of Sprite.
