An El Paso staple, Chicos is a must try. Low stars are due to service, wait time to place and receive order, along with area more on the dirty side. Taquitos (rolled) are sitting in a tomato sauce topped with shredded cheese, fired are ok, grilled cheese is simple yet a favorite, hot dogs are usually so yummy but hit and miss.

1 single(3) w/ sauce on the side & 1double (6). 2 fries. CASH ONLY-heads up. Flavor is as I remember it from growing up & over the yrs. Must have when in EP (El Pasó).

Gross. Tacos were very gamey and burnt tasting. Totally disappointed since we drove down here from San Antonio and stopped on the way to Seattle. Not to mention those tacos have a nasty funky smell. Yuk No wonder they have a 2 star!!!! I should have gone across the street and ate there. Asked for a refill so I could get that bad taco taste out of my mouth. And I was told that I have to buy a whole new soda.

A taste from my childhood. This is a must stop every trip back to El Paso. The tacos just take me back to being a kid. Only in El Paso! A double order with fries!

A long-standing El Paso tradition for many generations! Chico's is one of those places that people either love it or hate it. Hadn't had a chance to visit throughout 2020's pandemic so getting the opportunity to visit in 2021 was nice! They're famous for their rolled tacos (3 for a single/6 for a double), swimming in red sauce and covered in shredded cheese. For those that prefer a little more spice, green chili sauce is available to add. Most people pair the tacos with a side of fries too - my preference is to eat the fries with the extra sauce & cheese. Yum! The menu has other options available, if the tacos aren't your thing - hot dog (more of a chili dog sandwich), cheeseburgers, bean burritos, grilled cheese sandwiches, etc.

Hot dog with chili - actually pretty good!

"Oh you're going to El Paso??" "Go to Chico's Taco!" "Yeah! Chico's Tacos is a staple in El Paso!" "You MUST get the tacos...and the hot dog." After consulting with two local El Paseons, I was convinced. Chico's for lunch and I was darn excited. The husband and I were passing by and ordered the tacos and the hot dog to share. Hot dogs at a taco place? I know, but it was recommended! The hot dog was good y'all. It was a hot dog sliced in half, on a hamburger bun with mustard and chili sauce. Hard to mess this up in my opinion, but good nonetheless! Now the famous Chico's Tacos. The ones that were apparently featured on the Food Network. The one that many Yelpers rave about. I didn't get the hype. These tacos are actually beef flautas that are covered by a mound of cheese and flooded in a spicy watery red salsa (it was like soup) along with a dollop of salsa verde. They are crunchy if you don't wait for the watery red salsa to soak into the "taco." They are quite near flavorless (the cheese really is the only thing with flavor here). It was, overall, a big let down. If these just had any flavor at all, I could imagine it being pretty good. BUT, it is something you should try for yourself when you're in El Paso! We didn't enjoy the food, but we really did enjoy the experience of eating at one of EP's best known food spots.

Feeling really disappointed. I visited El Paso and saw on TikTok that this place was recommended for good food. I had been to Chicos Tacos about 35 years ago, but now it's not up to par. Ground beef and tortilla not good

R has family in Texas, and he remembered going to a restaurant called Taco Cabana many, many, many moons ago, to get their rolled tacos. While we were on our return road trip back to Atlanta 9 weeks ago, R found a chain named Chico's Tacos and discovered they have rolled tacos similar to the ones etched in his mind. We came to see if the rolled tacos were the same and I wanted to taste these things. Parking was easy to find in the free parking lot, even though there were many cars already in the lot. We walked in and this restaurant has a lot of tables, and many customers were inside enjoying their food. There are so many tables that we were able to distance ourselves from each other. There was a short line at the order counter and we didn't have to wait long before we were ordering. The employee who took our order was nice and friendly, and explained that the rolled tacos are in a red sauce. We ordered 6 rolled tacos. All of the rolled tacos are beef. The menu doesn't really have that many items on it: rolled tacos, hamburgers, burritos, fish fillet, hot dogs, fries, grilled cheese sandwich, cheese sandwich, and Coke products. That's all! Our order was called out, and I went to the counter to pick it up and took the food back to the table. It looked a little odd to see rolled beef tacos, which are essentially taquitos sitting in a watery red sauce with a thick layer of shredded cheddar cheese. I took one of the rolled tacos from the top and it was covered with melted cheddar. The corn tortilla was nice and crispy, and everything had a good flavor. However, the next two rolled tacos that I had were soggy and soggier, which was not pleasant. The tortillas had lost their crispness. The second rolled taco that I ate was barely held together, and the third rolled taco didn't have a chance at staying in one piece. It was so soggy that I had to use a fork. So my evaluation on the rolled tacos is that they have good flavors, but skip the red sauce ... unless you grew up on this item. In the latter case, enjoy the red sauce. I'm personally not a fan of the rolled tacos with the sauce.

Located off one of the main streets; in a shopping complex sits Orange Cow Burgers which originally started out as a Food Truck. Now, there's approximately three locations in the surrounding areas. Menu is pretty straight forward and simple. Orders are as follows: a single, double, triple and protein cow. It's fresh ingredients, all-beef patties that are cooked to medium. The best part is they have a secret speciality sauce called moolicious! We got two single patties along with two orders of fries and a pup patty (single plain patty) for the dogs. All to go. Prices are extremely reasonable in today's market. Taste was as if you made it right at your own La Casa. Only complaint was not having "enough" of that sauce to really have it stand out beyond home cooked. That said, you can also get their "loaded fries" which includes this specific sauce as well. We opted for "extra crispy" plain fries and they were really good. Service was fair enough as far as the wait ( 2 parties a head of us) and friendly staff. Great little spot if you happen through El Paso Texas or if you're local, hit them up for your own burger experience & request extra mooliscious spread of course!

Indeed, they lived up to their Yelp reviews. I had a 20 oz. Bone in Ribeye (the way God intended ) cooked medium with backed potato. I won't be slapping my mother but I will call her later this evening , to sing the praises of this excellent piece of meat. Particularly the char. It is the best I have ever had. If this placed served a dish that consisted of nothing but the end pieces (where they hug the bone) I would have to consider moving here. That char was perfectly blackened & bursting with flavor. The baked potato (which was backed in an oven & NOT microwaved) was very good also. The Alex's Philly Cheesecake was not as good as the steak but it got the job done. I sat at the bar so the service was immediate but the unsweetened tea tasted like I was the second person who drank some all day. This place is large (it has 'Texas' right in the name!) & because you have to do parking lot gymnastics in the full parking lot, I expected a little wait on this hot Sunday afternoon. Happily there was no wait. It has a high barn-like roof that amplifies customers talking to a semi-comfortable background cacophony but the steak was so good I entered into my own little world. The only down side was that the steak & especially the backed potato could have been a little hotter. If I ever wander through these parts again, I will definitely return. 4-stars
