Side Of Chips & Guacamole
Javi M.

First time at this spot and it is a nice new spot in Goodyear. Clean and friendly service. The inside is not that big but I did see a large party seated outside in front on the patio / walkway. There is one restroom for the entire restaurant and the decor artwork on the walls is trendy and appealing. The salsa are fire so be careful if you can't do too much spice as the red salsa is habanero based while the green avocado garlic salsa is a bit less intense but also spicy. We started with some guacamole chips and Agua Frescas. We ordered Jamaica (hibiscus) and also the melon. Nice refreshing and great tasting. For our main courses the kids ordered the Nutella pancakes with sides of egg and sausage accompanied by slices of avocado. They gave generous portions for sure! I had to try the birria grilled cheese which was a hit and came with a side of seasoned fries. I also ordered a gobernador taco which is served with a nice corn soft tortilla, then layered with a cheese and hard toasted tortilla shell. The pico and chipotle sauce in this taco gave it great contrast and flavor! Although there is only one taco, it is a large one and can easily satisfy you if you are looking for something quick and not too filling. We also tried the chilaquiles which come with rice and beans and a fried egg. The green salsa on the chilaquiles was bit salty tho. I do think that maybe the salt was a bit heavy on the dishes today. The price point mid to higher for Mexican fair of this type but not breaking the bank compared to some other places I've been to. I would recommend this place and would go back again to try the birria ramen and fajitas I observed other tables receiving. Looked and smelled wonderful!

Surf & Turf Burrito

Surf and turf comes with way less meat then it shows in the pic or else I'd give this place a 5 star. All the food was real good. Chorizo and egg was spot on and my daughter said the breakfast burrito was real good as well. Wish they had a salsa bar.

Went with my family of 7 over the weekend, and the service was disappointing from the start. The waitress didn't seem happy with our group size, and other tables were helped before us. The menu was confusing, there was no drink menu, and our aguas frescas were warm. My agua de piña tasted like soap, and the agua de Jamaica was bitter with no sugar. Chips and salsa were good, but the guac was oddly served right on top of the chips. The food looked great and mostly tasted good, though the carne asada was dry and the burrito had way too much rice. Birria was tasty but too cinnamon-heavy for me. Service was slow despite the place being tiny. Worst part: several of us got stomach aches after, and a few ended up with food poisoning. Disappointed after all the social media hype--probably won't dine in again, maybe takeout if we give it another try.

I always try to find a place to observe the weekly Tuesday tradition while on this side of town. The quessabirria taco was pretty damn flavorful and real good!

My family and I decided to try this spot after a weekend of swimming and it did not disappoint. The place is small but the service was impeccable. Very busy, and the interior had a lot of Mexican paintings with a pleasant visual presentation I enjoyed. Our server sat us down and immediately took our order. We ordered the Birria ramen, quesabirria tacos and the carne asada tacos. The Birria ramen was the best dish we had. The soup had a ton of flavor and it had a decent amount of portion as well. The food was not over priced and I would recommend to anyone in the area. Come try it!

So glad I decided to stop in and try this place, the food I ordered was soooooo good! I ordered the Birria Ramen and a queso Birria taco, so delicious and the service was great! I definitely recommend.

3 tacos (2 chicken, 1 carne asada), quesabirria taco

food was amazing, workers are super nice. I ordered the 3 tacos (2 chicken, 1 carne asada) and 1 quesabirria taco. the quesabirria was still crispy and overall just really delicious! I would love to go back and try some of their other food options. if you plan on eating in for tacos I would recommend bringing disposable gloves with you because even though they have a bathroom for you to wash your hands, eating the tacos can still get pretty messy. I think my only distaste was that for a side of guacamole they charged me $3.25, and it was overly salty. not sure if it was an off day batch or anything. I was okay with paying extra for guacamole but I wasn't expecting $3.25 haha, maybe I should've asked before ordering it. this doesn't make me less inclined to go back, but probably just wouldn't ask for guacamole again.

This is the asada, the worst one

Got the three tacos to go, a birria ( the only good one), pastor and asada was plain and also was supper burnt both of them the meat just tasted burnt, not a good experience

Menu

Absolutely delicious. Just go. So yummy. The best taco I have ever had, very tasty. The green sauce was very good. And tortilla chips were homemade, super thin and crispy with a yummy seasoning. And they serve breakfast all day. I am planning to go back and try the breakfast burrito.

Birria tacos were SO good! Worth the hype. Everything else... slightly disappointing. We got a California burrito and it was good, but not great. The Al pastor, carne asada, and chorizo tacos were all just okay as well. Way better options near by. Overall, we felt like it was worth a trip back, but we'd order differently next time. Also a bummer that they don't serve beer

Goodness all around!

We actually followed the owners here after frequenting their previous coffee shop, En Route. When they opened New Penny, supporting them was an easy decision. The café is thoughtfully divided into two distinct spaces: a family-friendly dining area and a lounge-style bar area geared more toward adults. The atmosphere is warm, cozy, and inviting. There are house-made dishes, local merchandise, a shaded patio, and plenty of charm throughout. My wife's favorites are the Breakfast Totchos and the Acai Bowl. Personally, I am also a loyal Breakfast Totchos fan. As for drinks, the Copper Coin and the legendary Cowboy Latte are both worth ordering. What truly sets New Penny apart, however, is the people. The owners and staff have created a space that feels inclusive, welcoming, and genuinely connected to the community. Support local businesses. Better yet, support local businesses that are doing things the right way. Get to know the owners. Get to know the staff. Places like New Penny don't just serve food and coffee--they create gathering places. One of my favorite local businesses, and one that my family will continue to support.

Looking at the dish with all the colors made me so happy and I could taste the freshness of the ingredients! The flow of service was spot on. Being a resident I drop in here about every five years and while consistent in their offerings, it also consistently "meh". We brought our pup and the service from Miguel was attentive and helpful even bringing a bowl of water for our pup. The location and ambiance is quiet and intimate (I suggest sitting outside when it's nice) and is much bugger than it looks. Coffee taste like Folgers and while each plate has a lot of ingredients, it doesn't have a lot of taste. We ordered the Lady Litchfield Omelette and breakfast burrito and while generous in portion the irony of the dishes was interesting. The omelette was chock full of veggies and minimal egg to wrap them, the burrito had a ton of egg and tortilla but minimal ingredients to taste. At the End of the Day I just don't feel like the experience warranted the $16+ price tag per meal. I'll come back in five more years and see if anything has changed.

Now I have the time since I won't be able to eat the rest of my food. I ordered over the phone and was told the food would take 15 minutes. I ordered 5 pieces of the Fish Fry and double fries and my girlfriend got the Hatch Chili Burger and upgraded to Sweet Potato fries for $2+ dollars. I live 2 minutes away down the street. I left 20 minutes after my order was made. When I get there I tell the cashier I have a to-go order and he has me pay. After I finish paying, he walks away without saying a word to me and starts sweeping the floor. I just wait and we make eye contact multiple times and he doesn't say anything. I assumed my food was ready because it had already been 25 minutes since I ordered. I realized maybe it's not ready, my mistake, I sit down in the table near the counter. He's watching me sit down and the literal exact moment I sit down he yells out that my order is ready. And when I get up to go get it, that's when he starts putting it in the bag. He doesn't go to the kitchen or anything so I don't know if my order was just sitting there this whole time and he was just waiting for me to sit down for some reason? I'm in no rush so I don't care its been 35 minutes at this point so I give him the benefit of the doubt still, and move on. Stacks the tartar sauce as he's trying to put everything in the bag and the stack falls over and a sauce falls on the floor. He looks at me and looks at the floor then he looks around the sauce drawer and puts another 3rd sauce which I assumed was another tartar sauce. It ended up being ranch. I wouldn't have cared if he just told me that he was out of tartar sauce but I guess trying to deceive me with ranch is a better option. At this point I would've still given a 4 STAR or even 5 STAR review if the food held up because it's a local business and I don't want some weird bald guy deter people from good food. After my 2 minute drive home we opened our containers that held extremely soggy and half cold sweet potato fries. I ordered double fries with my fish so my pile of fries were double soggy and partly cold too. I ate 2 pieces of Fish Fry and they were alright. I would've ordered them again and I was excited because I had a huge piece of fish fry I was going to have next. However I realized it was 2 pieces of fish fry stuck together causing the stuck sides to be soggy and have semi uncooked breading. The biggest piece I was excited for was the biggest disappointment. The only saving grace was the Hatch Chili Burger. The beef patties were soft and cooked well, unlike the last 3 pieces of fish fry. We spent $40 dollars on the entire thing. And we only ate the burger and 2 fish from the meals. Super convenient location for food that I will be completely avoiding in the future. TLDR: Bad service if bald guy is there. Was told 15 minutes but food took around 30-35 minutes. Let's you guess if your food is ready or not after he has you pay. Waits for you to sit down to tell you it's ready when it was possibly just sitting infront of him. Drops tartar sauce and tries to sneak ranch instead of just telling me that he can't/doesn't wanna replace it. Get home, half of order is soggy&cold. ALL fries including upcharged fries were soggy. Only Hatch Chili Burger was good. SPENT $40 and it was 2 meals that were less than mediocre overall. Normally I can ignore most bad service/attitudes but this dude sucked and doesn't like to communicate with customers. Below are photos of what I thought was a "big piece" of fish fry flipped around and then after I separate the two pieces.

With a huge balcony overlooking the pool there's a nice huge tub to soak in the room as well as a separate shower, a king size bed, and a couch. We decided to take advantage of the nearly empty pool for a bit before heading out to dinner at the nearby Reds at the golf course. The family pool was extremely crowded with children, which is expected for a family-friendly resort. We spent most of our time at the adult pool, which was much quieter and child-free. Unfortunately, the adult pool area felt like an afterthought compared to the family side. Several tiles in the pool were broken, giving the area a worn and somewhat neglected feel. The lounge chairs were not as nice as those at the family pool, and the cabanas also seemed less inviting and less maintained. The food and beverage experience was another disappointment. There was no traditional menu available at the adult pool. Instead, you had to scan a QR code on the drink menu to access food options and then call in your order yourself. It felt inconvenient and took away from the relaxing resort experience. One bright spot was the poolside service. Our server was very attentive, friendly, and checked on us regularly throughout the day. She did a great job and provided excellent customer service. While the adult pool provided a quieter atmosphere, it lacked the quality and amenities I expected.

We've spent a lot here over the years and have always supported and recommended this location. That's why my son's recent experience was so disappointing. He stopped in to get some work done, something he's done many times during slow hours. Sometimes he buys something, sometimes he doesn't, and it has never been an issue. This has always been a welcoming place. This time, a staff member told him he couldn't sit and work unless he purchased something. What made it worse was the explanation: a table of eight older gentlemen "didn't like" that he was sitting there working, and that was the reason he needed to leave or buy something. It wasn't busy, it wasn't about space, and it wasn't about a policy. It was simply another group of customers not liking his presence, and the staff acting on that. After years of loyalty, that was incredibly disappointing. If there's a new policy, that's fine, just communicate it clearly and apply it consistently. Asking a long‑time customer to leave because another table "didn't like" them is not acceptable. This experience genuinely made us rethink continuing to support this location.
