    Guacamole

We found the place to be a bit dark considering it was daytime. The service was a tad slow considering the number of tables. The food is pretty good and more like what we know from Texas. We ordered guacamole 3.5/5 (could have been spicier), chicken fajitas 4/5, and birria tacos 4/5 (needed larger cup for consommé).

    House specialty.

Was very excited to try a new restaurant and this place came highly recommended in particular for the malcojeti menu item. And one person in our party did order and enjoyed. It was large and there was plenty to take home for leftovers. It was fun for us all to taste the prickly pear cactus that was part of the dish. I had the birrio tacos but was disappointed. The shells were not crispy maybe due to sitting under a heat lamp for a bit? The beef was ok flavor. Same "ok" can be applied to the complimentary tortilla chips and salsa. No kick to the salsa. My hubby had the trio enchiladas and he said there wasn't a lot of flavor with the chicken and beef, but he enjoyed the cheese enchilada. We had happy hour margaritas and the flavor was smooth and tasty, but it had little tequila. The inside of the restaurant is super cool and fun and the service was great. If I go back, I'll try something other than the birrio tacos and enchiladas and I'll probably skip the happy hour house margarita.

Lovely colorful setting to enjoy Mexican food and drinks. Margaritas were delicious, a bit pricey but that seems to be the norm for the area. Warm hefty tortilla chips served with salsa that had the proper amount of kick. Service was excellent and food came out quick and hot. One of our dining companions had special requests on his entree and all modifications were met. Large servings. I had Enchiladas Supremas (chicken) and they were delicious with guac and sour cream. My husband had ground beef tacos and indicated they were delicious. Clean bathrooms. We will certainly come again.

Food was really good and great service. Mango margaritas were so good. We tried the chile relleno and molcajete. Everything was amazing.

A New Favorite So glad we found this lil gem of a restaurant. First of all, we loved the décor. It was cheerful, colorful and made me feel like I was back in Hermisillo. We were greeted as soon as we walked in and seated almost immediately. On this visit we shared the quesabirrira tacos, enchiladas, beef tacos, and everything was really good. The meat was lean, moist, and full of flavor as was the rice and beans. However, The chips/ salsa were my favorite. The salsa was perfectly balanced and had just the right amount kick. We went trough two bowls of sals and chips and honestly we could probably have gone through a few more. To end our meal we shared sopapillas and fried ice cream. The sopapillas were pillowy soft, covered with cinnamon and sugar, served with whipped cream and honey, so delicious. We ordered the fried ice cream as well and it was some of the best that I've had. The perfect ending to a great meal. You have to stop by this place and exper

Well, that was fun! I review more Mexican restaurants than any other because I am looking for New Mexico style Mexican food, which is my favorite! A friend suggested Amigo's saying it was her favorite. Upon arrival, we were immediately seated. Several things were immediately apparent. The staff was very friendly and the place was bigger than it looked outside. Also, I loved the painted murals and balconies inside. The chips and salsa came out quickly and we dug in! The salsa was one of my favorites anywhere. I loved the fresh tomato chunks and nice balance of spices. Okay, time to order. I was torn because the had a really nice looking buffet going on at the time. Instead, I decided to order my three staples from the menu; a Taco, Enchilada and Chili Relleno. These determine whether or not I return. Most everything was delicious. I was given my choice of ground or shredded beef Taco. I ordered the ground. To be honest, It wasn't what I expected. The beef tasted like taco meat seasoning and smokey chipoltle. I prefer simple beef and onions. Also I like fresh fried shells. Next time I will try the shredded beef.Hopefully it is seasoned differently. The Enchilada was excellent. The enchilada sauce was perfect and the Enchilada was really cheesy. One of the better ones that I've had for sure. Last, the Chile Relleno was one of the best I've had anywhere. It also was covered in sauce (a lot are dry) and they used Hatch green Chilis rather than Pablanos. My favorite! The Relleno was dipped in egg rather than omelette style. I prefer that. I would return just for the Relleno. It was a pleasant evening with lot's to try. Amigo's goes to the top of my list for Mexican food in the West Valley. They are definitely worth a try.

This place is pretty good. There are a few things I don't care for but the Molcajete Cielo Mar y Tierra is really good and fun! (Just take the shrimp off the Molcajete as soon as it comes to the table or they will overcook big time). I also really like their barbacoa tacos. The jalapeño poppers are kind of bland but ok. You have to ask for the hot salsa in addition to the regular because the regular is pretty bland too. They have a really big menu so chances are good you'll find some things you like pretty well and some things you don't care for. But that's ok. That's why variety.

Crazy price for a skinny margarita / don Julio. Really

Now I've had a million tacos in my life and let me tell you, these are THE TRUTH! The chicken was my fav, followed by the pastor and asada. You can tell the freshness as it took about 8-10 minutes to get them to our table. So much flavor, heat, and juiciness. I wish I lived near here so I could come back often - prices are also great! As far as service, the staff was fantastic and the owner Edson is a character who truly cares about the quality of his food and the vibe of his restaurant. The tequila list with Fortaleza and the like gave me a lot of hope as well. Alas, it was not to be. Not a hint of spice in anything, from the salsa to the various meals we had. You can tell the quality of the ingredients was good, but the *flavor* was just not there. This began with the salsa, which looked promising but had zero taste. My group had three entrees - beer battered fish tacos, the 3 taco combo (cochinita pibil, quesabirria, and a taco de tinga), and the mixed grill. I also had the La Sandia cocktail, which took forever and tasted... unfortunate. It had an odd salty note and a weirdly thick consistency that reminded me of PediaLyte. Not the best beginning. The overall theme for the meals was the same - everything was acceptable but boring, especially in the flavor we were hoping for. The term we came up with was "inoffensive" - no spice to speak of in anything, despite the items being seasoned and not bland. The mixed grill is huge and the grilled cheese included is a fun addition, and the ingredients in the tacos tasted high-quality (lots of raves about the tortillas) but there was no kick to anything. Perhaps we needed to adjust expectations, but when I come to a Mexican place - even a chain - I expect a little more, you know? Service was very slow during an admittedly slow time of day and it took a long time to receive anything besides chips, but everything was fresh when it arrived. Portion sizes were perfectly acceptable for the price. Our visit was not memorable and I don't expect to be back, but we were glad to give it a try.

But since the change in ownership, the quality, service, and value have completely fallen off a cliff. Tonight was the absolute last straw. We always call ahead to ask if our favorite server, Espy, is working, because the customer service otherwise has become atrocious. Espy is fantastic and the only reason we still try to come here. Tonight, we called and asked if Espy was working, and the person on the phone said yes. We asked if she'd be there until close, and the manager, Jeff, responded with, "I hope not." We pulled up to the restaurant less than five minutes later and asked for her section, only for Jeff to tell us he had already cut her for the night, knowing full well we had just called and were coming specifically for her. Jeff the manager was extremely rude, unprofessional, and dismissive. We walked right out and took our business elsewhere tonight, and we feel terrible for Espy because she is genuinely amazing and deserves better. This interaction is just the final nail in the coffin after watching this restaurant go downhill: Zero Customer Support: We actually reached out directly through the customer service link on the Macayo's website back in July to share these exact concerns and issues, hoping someone cared. They never even acknowledged or responded to our email. Shrinkflation & Portions: Portion sizes have drastically shrunk. Far less meat in the burritos, barely any beans and rice, and they nickel-and-dime you over chips and salsa. Stingy Takeout Policy: On multiple takeout orders, they hand you a huge bag of chips with a tiny 4-oz cup of salsa and claim "new management policy" prevents them from giving any more. Gutted Deals: They eliminated the loyalty points program, cut kids' meal deals from two per adult to one, scrapped the summer "Kids Eat Free" daily deal, and neutered Happy Hour. Refusing Advertised Coupons: Just last month, we brought a party of 14 people and management refused to honor the active 20% off Mi Coupon that is still advertised on their own website and app. Between Jeff's atrocious management, total lack of response from corporate, the drop in food quality, and the complete elimination of customer appreciation, there is zero reason left for us to support Macayo's. After 36 years, our family and our wallets are officially done.
