He kept on pushing appetizers and twice I declined the offer. My cold trio and our pancakes arrived via expediter, she walked away without saying a word. 5 minutes pass and my son's skillet still hadn't arrived. We've driven by this place a few times and decided to stop for breakfast on a Saturday morning. Rolled in around 8am and we were greeted and seated right away. The breakfast menu is unique for the area and the portion sizes show value for the money. I had been wanting to try Chilaquiles for a while, and finally placed an order....or tried to. Unfortunately, their online ordering wasn't working, so I called it in instead. I had the menu in front of me and followed the "build your own chilaquiles" steps. On the final step, I told the person on the phone that everything standard was fine except the jalapeños. She confirmed the order, but I wasn't given a total. When I arrived to pick up, I was shocked to find my order totaled nearly $30. Turns out, she interpreted "everything is fine except jalapeños" as me wanting all the extras added......which came with several $2 upcharges each. I didn't push back because I hate making changes after something's already been made, so I just paid and took the lesson: next time, I'll be clearer and confirm every part of the order. As for the food, the chilaquiles were good, but not the best I've had. And for close to $30 (or even $18 if I had ordered more conservatively), it's just too expensive for what it is, especially given this isn't a fancy or upscale spot. My friend and I went on a Thursday at 10:30am. No wait, wasn't busy inside and we both got parking spots easily. I will say there doesn't seem to be a lot of parking in front from what I saw. Unless there is some behind the restaurant but I didn't look. A lot of private parking for the church and other businesses around it. The strawberries and cream pancakes were delicious. I wish they were a little more on the fluffy side. They're very dense/thick. Chilaquiles is definitely generous on their portion sizes! I did like how there is an actual strawberry shortcake icecream on this as that is one of my favorite icecream bars. I would come back to try other items on the menu and just so you know, Thursday they have ceviche for $6! Great service and loved how nicely lit and decorated the inside is! We sat without napkins for about 20 minutes after our meal started. We asked bout 3-4 times. It's busy we understand our server was running around getting stuff. For a "Latino" owned business, the music was very modern and in English. The entrance to the restaurant was very to par with the theme but lost the theme in the dining area. The bar looked great and it was small for a small party getting drinks. The wait was not it for the food or to get in. There was a line to get in, and a line to put your name on the list. A lot of people were in the way and they were confused where to go . Something has to change for the sign up, manager was rude and the hostesses one of them was actually helpful while the other gave the stank eye. They were towing cars as well. I've been to this location twice within a week. The first time was on 6/15/24. I was here with two other friends for a breakfast meetup. We contemplated leaving but were seated really quickly at 1150! We were seated by the bar which 0/10 would not recommend. The music is so loud in this area it's difficult to talk. I don't know if that's why the service was so terrible so the second visit. Our waiter took our orders brought out drinks and water and then was never to be seen again. We caught him and asked for extra napkins, he gave us two. Had to catch him again and ask for a fork to eat with my birria ramen. We ordered pancakes with our meal but by the time we were ready for the check we cancelled the order to which our waiter seemed annoyed about? Also, have you ever eaten a birria taco with one napkin. It's messy. The food at this place is delicious, the cafe de olla is so fresh tasting and the concha was perfect. But the service is terrible. Expect a potential good meal if you come here. Don't expect good service, a refill on drinks, the correct utensils to eat your food with or to be checked on at all. I had an opportunity to visit Chilaquiles Modern Kitchen today for the first time. I met up with some new friends who had never been there before either. So it was a new experience for all of us! I showed up Sunday at 11am and could not find the parking area...if the front is all full, then you need to go around on the side and park behind the chain link fence. They share that lot with the nearby church. As I entered inside, I saw several people waiting. I walked up to the hostess stand and put my name in. Originally they told me it would be about 25 minutes, so I left my cell phone number and went outside to wait for my friends. No sooner had I stepped outside when I got a text message saying my table was ready! Great!!!! After my friends joined, we ordered drinks (Long Island Iced Tea, Bloody Mary and a Mangoneada) all were wonderful and good way to start off brunch. My brunch companions were a tough crowd as they used to run Mexican food restaurant in Safford, AZ so they were going to be hard to impress. But after ordering tons of food (Breakfast Platter, Chilaquiles Carnitas, Huevos Rancheros, Churro French Toast, Menudo and a BYO Protein Bowl), we were all very full and very, very pleased with both the food and the service. The staff was wonderful and very accommodating with our many requests. Once ordered, the food came out quickly, was hot and ready to be enjoyed. My friends, the previous restaurateurs, mentioned how impressed they were. High praise indeed! The atmosphere is fun and lively with their own DJ "spinning" a mix of tunes and musical genres. The place is decorated well and the staff move through the restaurant effortlessly...seating people, delivering food and cleaning tables. Clearly this is a well run place. I am a big fan of chilaquiles so I've been wanting to try this restaurant out for a while. It's located on the corner of a nondescript strip mall and it seems more modern and updated than the other businesses. The menu had so much to offer, and I liked that in addition to the various types of chilaquile combos available, they also have a build your own chilaquiles breakfast. I decided on that, going with red and green sauce (Gotta get it X-mas style if there's the option!), birria for the protein, with queso fresco as the cheese, with sour cream and pickled red onion as additional toppings. When it came out it looked amazing! It tasted just as good as it looked too. It was perfectly executed and I enjoyed all the different elements put together. It was such a hearty meal I needed a to go box so you definitely get your money's worth of food. I'm always on the lookout for a place that can properly make real, Mexican chilaquiles like my grandmother made. This was pretty good but a bit expensive. We both ordered an entree and only had water and the bill was $40. They way overcooked my over easy eggs and the chicken was pretty tough. I had both red and green sauce and none of it was spicy. I make my own red chile sauce and this one tasted a bit like tomato and the green sauce had a fair bit of tomatillo and not much green chile. Chips were nice and crispy and overall flavor was decent. The french toast was like a bready churro and delicious! Staff were very sweet and the place was cute and clean, which is why I'm giving 4 stars instead of 3. Mine was not like that. My husband ordered enmoladas which he said were too salty. That man loves salt and for him to say that, well... The pic with all the food is what we left, which is more than half. That's how much we DIDN'T like the food. Service was bare minimum but it depends on the waiter. Ours only stopped by to get the order (after people who were seated after us had already ordered) and to charge us. The table next to ours which was seated after us had their orders taken right away, drinks brought out, and food served before us, their waiter even stopped by to ask if everything was okay. I had no idea this place existed until my friend invited me here for brunch. They have complimentary valet parking since it was busy by 930am! I walked in and was seated quickly. It's an Instagrammers picture paradise. So many cute neon signs, leafy walls, and an angel wings neon picture standee! They have lots of cute drinks that come with pastries on top for dipping but I stuck with a soda and my chilaquiles.
