The top travel site on the internet rated the Sawmill Rd location as the third best Mexican restaurant in Columbus. Sadly, that location closed so I popped over to their other location - this one. I arrived during Happy Hour, so I gave that menu a look first: It's basically all the appetizers and a couple of sides at discounted rates. Not discounted deeply enough, I thought. So I moved on to the main menu and decided on the $20 Combo Plato, which came with three entre items among six choices and sides of rice and beans. I chose the burrito, enchilada, and tamale with the chili verde (hot) sauce: they were all pretty good- especially the tamale. And the platter was definitely filling; I'm a fat guy and even I couldn't finish it. On the bright side, the leftovers made for a nice midnight snack. As for the service, the waitress was as ideally cheerful as you would hope a real Mexican mama would be after she invited you over for supper. And the atmosphere, with a front façade that's actually a large garage-like door that opens to the outside when the weather is nice, was exceptionally pleasant due to sunny, mid 70s weather on an early Autumn day. The green Chile Stew was just ok. My friend had the New Mexican big bowl with shredded be and he wasn't impressed. I had a tamale and a Chile relleno. Tasty food & drinks, slow service. I tried the barbecue grilled fajita burrito with chicken, and I was very impressed. The sweet and spicy Anasazi BBQ sauce paired really well with the burrito. I could eat this burrito all day, everyday. The Steak & Shrimp burrito also tasted delicious. However when we ate the leftovers the next day there wasn't any meat on that half. They could have done a better job spreading the ingredients evenly. We leveled up our margaritas by adding strawberries and loved them. You can not believe my shock and delight when I walked into Chile Verde for the first time thinking it would be another Mexican place and I discovered it was NEW Mexican. I have really fond memories as a kid of going to the Hatch Green Chile Festival and helping hand-pick green chiles off the stem. Absolutely everything that I've ever had at Chile Verde has hit the spot. Every dish feels inventive, authentic, and packs a massive punch of flavor. No matter what you're in the mood for, you can probably find something here to fit the bill. The majority of the dishes are customizable allowing you try to dry different fillings and sauces to find your perfect combo. How good is this place? I brought a date here in order to impress for Valentine's Day. It didn't work out, but that was definitely not the food's fault. When the restaurant first closed temporarily as the covid pandemic began, a ton of fans reached out to keep the doors open and keep cooking. Our waiter was very helpful, and we received free chips and salsa. The strawberry margaritas we ordered frozen, and they were pretty tasty. I ordered a fajita burrito combo (steak and shrimp), which came with rice and beans. The beans were too spicy and the rice was very plain. The burrito was fine, but I ate half with lots of meat and then found that my leftovers had hardly any meat, so that was a disappointment. Decided to check this place out at the last minute and I am definitely glad that I did. My wife loves Mexican food so I figured she would be pleased with this place. The staff was very friendly and professional. They nailed it with the decor, definitely got Mexico vibes. I had been craving some good fajitas and they had many varieties of them on the menu. I ordered the steak fajitas and I subbed my beans for fries. I was not expecting anything special when I got the fries, but boy was I wrong. The fries came with some special kind of seasoning that was FIRE! The fajitas came out on a sizzling plate, this amazed my daughter. We love Chile Verde! Since it remodeled the restaurant is really welcoming and we live the outdoor patio for the warmer weather. Different than a traditional Mexican restaurant, Chile Verde offer a little spice to its dishes. In addition it has some unique cocktails like the blackberry margarita! Each time we've been since the remodel the service is quick despite being busy! In the past it was definitely slower, so kudos to the staff for making a huge effort on this! Favorite Mexican Restaurant! New Mexico inspired menu with so many great options. Service is consistently excellent from the host greeting to each server that has waited on us. The food comes out quickly, fresh and hot. There is a nice patio out front and a newly added bar toward the back of the dining room. Our son recently married at the Beverly Mansion. Following tradition, as the grooms parents we hosted the rehearsal dinner. We rented space from Gather and ordered catering from Chile Verde. At first I was a little apprehensive about a taco and nacho bar for this event, but Chile Verde knocked it out of the park! The taco proteins, beef and chicken, were tender and full of flavor. The veggies, salsa and pico were fresh and tasty, the black beans reminded me of homemade Cuban black bean soup, amazing. The queso dip was outstanding. They provided soft and hard shells and nacho chips. Everything arrived hot and stayed warm throughout the serving. The response from the guest was so positive, everybody kept asking us which restaurant, especially the locals, most had never heard of this hidden gem and are probably regulars by now (it's been a few weeks since the wedding). My mother and I had lunch here on a Saturday. Despite it being a peak time, we were seated quickly and had attentive service from our server Caleb. He checked on us regularly and was very personable. My mother had a chicken quesadilla and I had cheese and onion enchiladas. My enchiladas had multiple options- 5 different sauces, 2 types of rice (red or green), and either pinto beans or any other side. The entrees were of a good size, freshly made, and very flavorful. Dessert options were many and sounded delicious! We went with the key lime pie and the cinnamon crisp. Both were large in size and delicious. We came to Chile Verde for lunch on Saturday, and inside was surprisingly empty. I'm not quite sure why, because the food is delicious. I came here under a recommendation that Chile Verde is WAY better than El Vaquero, so we tried it out and the statement was absolutely right. When we were being seated, we noticed the atmosphere and design of the restaurant was really fascinating and neat. There were lots of Native American, Mexican, and South Western themed pictures and decorations hanging. As soon as we sat down we were served tortilla chips and salsa. The chips were warm and crunchy, and the salsa didn't taste poured out of a jar and tasted fresh. While we munched on the chips, we ordered a few margaritas off their drink menu. I had the 1800, which tasted really refreshing and vacationy. Highly recommend drinking it out of the glass and not the straw that it's served it. The rim of the glass is salted so it strengthens the flavor even more. Then my Albuquerque Platter arrived, which is a plate with slow marinated chicken, lots of shrimp, and sauteed chorizo. The dish comes with black means, but I substituted it out for the red rice, which was a great addition to the dish. Additionally, the platter came with flour tortilla wraps but honestly I didn't want to mess with the flavor and I didn't think it really needed to be wrapped. It tasted amazing off the plate. The mashed potatoes were served on a small side dish, and they weren't bad but maybe tasted heated up to me at least. I'm just not a mashed potato fan, and if you aren't either consider subbing the mashed potatoes out for something else off their side menu. Great space and amazing food. The portion size was no joke, so I had to take it home. Later in the day, I ended up finishing my leftovers, and they tasted even better after the flavor has settled. I'm actually kind of sad. Chile Verde used to be my favorite place to eat. We'd eat there weekly years ago. We kind of fell off going for a few years and recently visited their newer location on Gemini. The menu has changed a bit since the last time we went in but luckily still had our favorites. The salsa definitely doesn't leave much of an impression on the palate like it used to and we were really hoping since it was a weekend evening, there was going to be a specialty salsa like in the past but were unfortunately met with disappointment. I ordered the chicken Chimichanga and let me tell you, it wasn't even fried a little. It was the taste and texture of a burrito with some queso on top. That'd be all well and great if that is what I ordered but unfortunately, I did not. My significant other ordered the spicy beef enchiladas. The enchiladas were very small and not filled with much meat. He also said the meat doesn't taste as good as it used. Unfortunately, I know I used this word a lot,it is probably our last visit with are once beloved Chile Verde. $45 for mediocre definitely didn't cut it. read more

It's officially Restaurant Week. At Chile Verde this means a great deal on some of their Green Chile Crab Cakes (served as the appetizer round in miniature form). And chocolate brownie dessert. For the main course I had the Aztec Wrap with shredded beef. The beef was melt in your mouth tender. The potato chips on the side had a bit of a kick, as did the seasoning on the tortilla. It appears that they cook the beef in corn husks to get it to the tender level it was at, something I wasn't expecting to find hiding in the wrap. The ranch sauce also can make the tortilla a bit on the soggy side. Went here for dinner and made a reservation for 7 using their online system. It wasn't crowded and we were seated right away. Our server was terrific and everyone enjoyed their food. I usually get the spicy beef burrito with red sauce, potatoes and beans. It is always good! Our server brought take out containers and didn't rush us out the door even though it was getting close to closing time! I'll start by saying I'm really not a mexican food fan. That said, I have visited CV 6 times in the last 3 months. The food has been consistent and delicious each time and the service has been friendly and fast. I started with the BBQ Chicken Fajita Burrito and now I'm stuck on the combo (2 chicken burritos - one with queso and one with BBQ. ...this sauce combo is just insanely good.
