I give it 4 stars as it does need some care like tears in booths (maybe they could call Robert Irvine/restaurant impossible?). But the waiter/server/greeter was just so nice and so helpful. And the food. Omg awesome. I had the carne ado adovada lunch burrito the 1/4 size and had for lunch dinner and will finish tomorrow. The full size would definitely feed 4 plus, and I mean like Samoan linebackers. And the carne adovada itself was so good. I mean next time I may just get the tortilla with meat only as the flavor was just yummy. And super reasonable. Even my daughter liked the vegetarian burrito and a lot of times old diners don't have a solid option for this. Will absolutely be back. Also my favorite thrift store, the Assistance League of Albuquerque is a few blocks away so if you want to make a nice lunch time with both definitely do able. Also a really great people watching spot.

Another good restaurant that fell victim to the pandemic staffing shortage. There were 2 waitresses serving a full restaurant and running the carhop service. I'm not sure how the kitchen was staffed but our food took a while to come out after we ordered. But, even though they were short staffed and overwhelmed, the waitresses were still pleasant and positive. We ordered 3 dishes and it took about 30 minutes to come out. This seemed to be the average wait time. My kids really liked their pancakes and burger. My combo plate was also very good. I hope their staffing situation gets better, not everyone has an hour to spend on a quick meal.

Pretty good place. It was my first time and certainly satisfied with everything I ordered.

This is an authentic diner experience that includes all the details one hopes for and expects. Highly recommended. They even have the old drive-in menus and stations. The 1/2 Disaster Burrito (chicken) was a lot, and very filling. The curly fries were surprisingly nice, and the chili sauce (got green and red) was mildly spicy (I NM). The service was solid and no nonsense. This is a must visit for diner aficionados like me.

    Full platter breakfast disaster burrito!

Breakfast here is served all day! Breakfast disaster burrito with chicken with green chile on the side... because I'm such a wimp when it comes to spiciness. .. this breakfast contender is a huge portion that must be shared! This Behemoth giant was featured in Man Vs, Food show on Food Network. I'm sure host of the show finished it off! This is something to be taken home and dived into for later!

Cheese enchiladas with rice and beans

Hurricane's definitely has that old school, classic diner feel. A friend of mine had told me about this place and told me that I had to try it, so I decided to check it out. I ordered the cheese enchiladas smother with green chile w/ a side of rice and beans. Everything that I ate just tasted bland to me. I think everything could've used a dash of salt. I can understand the enchiladas not being the best thing to order from there, but beans are rice are stables. I feel like you have to get those right. I was excited to try the chile since we don't have it in Kansas City, but theirs left me disappointed.

    Now that's a burrito!

I absolutely love this place. I've been here a handful of times now, and every visit has been a…read moregood one. The kids are happy, I'm happy, and honestly, that's a successful breakfast in my book. The only downside is the limited seating. It's a smaller location, so it can fill up quickly, especially during the breakfast rush. If you happen to come during a really busy time, you may have to wait a bit to find a table. That said, I don't think it takes away from the experience you just have to time it right. We usually come for breakfast since they're open for breakfast and lunch, and this time I tried the Grande burrito. And let me tell you, "Grande" is not an exaggeration. That is a LOT of food. I got the bacon-smothered burrito with red chile, and it was delicious. Unfortunately, I could not finish it. I do wish there was something between the Grande and Junior because the Grande is a serious commitment, and I'm not sure the Junior would be enough. I'll have to try it next time and find out. My daughter ordered the steak sandwich, which comes with an Angus sirloin steak on Texas toast. It looked a little wild when it came out, but she ate it and said it was delicious, so apparently the presentation was just part of the experience. My son got the sausage, egg and cheese biscuits. He ate the whole thing, so clearly he approved. His only complaint was that the biscuit kept falling apart, but considering he's a little kid, I'm going to blame that one on the user rather than the biscuit. The staff has always been friendly during our visits. On this particular morning, a gentleman came around several times to refill our house coffee, which I always appreciate. Good service and a full coffee cup go a long way. And if you're into pastries and coffee, they have plenty of options. I've tried their blueberry muffin, and it is divine. They also have different baked scones, and I've had their lattes and macchiatos, which have all been really good. I still need to come back during the lunch hours because there are several things I want to try. The hot beef sundae caught my attention, and the Philly also looked really good. There are so many different options that I feel like I could keep coming back and ordering something different every time. This is definitely the kind of place where you can stop in, grab something really good, enjoy a little coffee, and get on with your morning. It's casual, welcoming, and consistently good. Limited seating is really my only complaint. Otherwise, I've been here multiple times and have yet to leave disappointed. Definitely a must-try!

Here's a cleaned-up version that keeps your energy and voice:…read more Okay, so for the 66 Diner: we stopped here during our Route 66 road trip, which most of you know I've been taking very seriously. I've been hitting all the spots I can and being very strategic about the food stops. This place is nostalgic, historic, and right along the way in Albuquerque, New Mexico. It gives you all the old-school diner vibes immediately. I will say, all the young ladies working there were extremely nice, and the service was great. It definitely passes the vibes test. The burger tasted like that classic all-American diner burger. Not too greasy, but not trying to be some "beyond meat" situation either. Just good stuff. The fries were great, and very, very, very importantly: it passes the ranch test. We had a side salad with ranch, and the ranch tasted good on the salad and even better with the fries dipped in it. We also had the 66 Burger, which comes with green chiles. I had never had that on a burger before, but it was a really good twist and a nice local touch. Green chiles seem to be a big thing in Albuquerque, New Mexico, so it was cool to try that there. The onion rings were great too. If I hadn't been so full, and if it wasn't noon with eight more hours of driving ahead of us, I definitely would've gotten a shake too. All in all, absolutely great classic Route 66 vibes. It has all the nostalgia, great service, and great food. 10/10 recommend. Everyone should go.

Directly across the street from University of New Mexico's main entrance, this place is packed when school is in session. This place is huge, but not at first glance. Walk into the retro-looking, Western themed dining room, and you'll see a huge menu board above the order counter. There is are several freestyle soda machines in the middle of the room. There are little digital screens in the corner where you watch for your order number and a counter in the corner where you go pick up your food. It's not until you go into the next room that you discover there is another "next room," and then another. There is a lot of art on the walls, including several John Wayne pictures. The girl at the counter who took our order was an absolute ray of sunshine--so friendly and sweet. We ordered the green chili cheeseburger with onion rings and the daily special which is the "green pile-up" (beans, hash browns, scrambled egg, and green chili beef). The good came our talented quickly, and was quite yummy. Frontier is an Albuquerque classic. If it old? Yes, but it has a huge faithful following, not including the things of UNM students that pack this giant diner during the school year. It may not be a "must try" for some, but if you want Albuquerque nostalgia, this is your place. Btw--it's pretty darn cheap,!

The area looks old and poor, but near the restaurant, we didn't see anything sketchy. When we were leaving, we did see some homeless people at the main intersection, but we didn't see anything we'd describe as sketchy. We did notice there is a mobile home park behind the restaurant, but there is a wall between the mobile home park and the restaurant parking lot. Even if there were police surrounding the mobile home park, we'd still venture inside to eat. The food is that good. We shared the cowboy breakfast burrito and the Santa Fe pancakes. Both were filling and ridiculously good. The Santa Fe pancakes made with blue corn, roasted piñons, green chili, and cheddar jack cheese were different than anything else we've ever had. I'll admit I didn't love my first bite or two, but the more I ate, the more I wanted. The pancakes are dry, but if you drizzle some syrup, it's the perfect match. The accompanying eggs and bacon were cooked perfectly. The cowboy breakfast burrito is massive, filling, and worth every calorie. Even though we were stuffed, we had to get the peach with green chile turnover. We asked if the turnover is served warm and our waitress replied that she could warm it up for is. I'm not sure that it is normally served warm, but I highly recommend it. The turnover flaky, the glaze was silky once warmed up and the peach with green chile was unique and delicious. Five star service and food. I highly recommend Vick's Vittles and hope that I'm in the area again so I can try more of this delicious food.
