Three people were waiting ahead of us and the hostess says it will be a while because only one server is there. We finally gave up after a short wait with empty tables and no server. We had not been the Chili's in Auburndale as the experience in the Ocala and Crystal River experiences were horrible. We decide to give this Chili's a try a week ago, three days after that and again today. Our experience has been nothing short of great! We each got a margarita and my Coconut margarita was impressive. The taste was great, you could actually taste the alcohol (where as other places you simply do not and in fact some tasted like they had no alcohol at all) and of decent size. Perfect. The service by Amanda was impeccable. She was kind, prompt and so welcoming. Our appetizer Triple Dipper was great. Each time we have been our servers were great as well. Today was David who, on a busy Sunday was just fantastic. Again, kind, hard working on a really busy day, helpful. Rico, the manager is so kind and generous with his time and represents Chili's perfectly. Ray, the greeter at the door, who we watched bustle not only seating people but bussing tables, wiping tables...whatever needed to be done he was doing. He is honest, kind and a delight to know. Each seating we had a clean booth and utensils. Everyone and I mean everyone during all three visits was busy getting orders, cleaning/bussing tables or delivering food. No one was standing around yapping to each other as i have seen in some other places. We are so pleased to find a Chili's that surpasses our visits to other Chilis and in fact other restaurants! What's the point of having curbside pick up if the employees are too busy talking in the back to even notice that you're there. I don't appreciate waiting 10 minutes plus 4 my food which is sitting there getting cold because your employees are too busy doing nothing to take care of me, the customer. read more

First off I'd like to say that I don't like confrontation, I don't expect anything free, and I don't mind waiting in a busy restaurant for someone to come to the table. And I will contact the company. I was taking my folks to get groceries and we decided to stop at Chili's in Auburndale. It was before five o'clock and the place was not busy. We waited maybe five minutes to be seated and I noticed several tables that had not been cleaned off. Once seated, it was more than 20 minutes before anyone came to our table. He was a nice guy, apologizing over and over, for our wait, while several servers were chatting in the back. He said, "Please let me get you all some drinks and I'll talk to my boss, cause he will be paying for your dinner today." So we order our drinks and continue with our conversation. He came back with beverages and took our order. I noticed a tall, dark haired Man with a Chili's shirt on, talking with a female server, his hand on her back, as she was cleaning off a mess on a table near us. After a few minutes he walks up to our table and it went like this: "I understand you had to wait a few minutes to be waited on, but you guys need to understand that you walked into MY restaurant during a shift change during the busy holidays and we are the only restaurant in Auburndale." This guy was so arrogant. No hello, no sorry for the wait. And he was wanting to blame us for coming in HIS restaurant? Me, " You are not the only restaurant in Auburndale, and that's not my fault you don't have enough staff." I actually went on to name other places to eat in town. He said, "Well, I sent out a basket of chips and salsa, at no charge, there's not much else I can do." Me, "I didn't ask for any, and I didn't ask to see a Manager." Him, in a very stern tone, "Do you have a problem with me? What are you actually complaining about? You got something against me?" I was furious. My Mother and Father looked uncomfortable, and this was nonsense. Me, " You are becoming very combative with me, you need to walk away. And now I'd like to speak with someone." Him, grinning, smug look on his face, says to me, "This is it! I'm the top of the food chain around here!" Me, " So you own Chili's?" Him, "I own this one!" Me, "You need to go now, this is awful for you to stand here and talk to us that way. I've never experienced anything like this." And the asshole wouldn't quit. Him, "I gave you free chips and salsa and you're still complaining? What do you think I'm going to do?" I'm pissed. Me, "Well, I would get up and leave but my parents need to eat and our server said dinner was on you." Him, "That's NOT happening. Things don't work that way around here." Then he looks at my 79 year old Father and says in a voice that one might use to speak to a child and said, " Now I don't hear this fine young Man complaining about anything. He hasn't said a word." My Father has Alzheimer's. Me, "I've asked you to walk away. This is ridiculous..." And before I could say another word, he said, "Don't interrupt me when I want to hear what this young Man has to say. You seem to be the only one with a problem here. You need to be quiet while I speak to this young Man..." I felt awful for my parents. They don't get to go out as often as they once did, and I was getting more angry by the second. This guy was unreal. So I said to him, this arrogant, rude, and disrespectful person, "Leave. Walk away now. And give me a number to call." He walked away laughing and brought back a business card with his name and the number of the restaurant. He sat in on the table and said, "Please call. Have a Happy New Year." And walked away smiling. Such a big Man. I paid for our dinners, left our Server a nice tip, and felt so bad for how uncomfortable this experience was for my folks. I've always enjoyed going there in the past. Never again. And I'm sorry for my Mom and Dad. This guy was awful. read more

By far my worst dining experience I've had since moving to Florida. This staff is absolutely unbearable and rude to all customers. We went up to the hostess stand and asked for a table of 2 (my spouse and I) and the women rolled her eyes and blatantly refused to acknowledge my voice and presence. She then finally looked at me and held up her finger to communicate to wait a moment. I went and sat down, 10 long minutes passed and I finally walked up there again. I asked her to put us on the waitlist for a party of 2 and she snapped and said she'd get around to it when she does. Just FYI lots of tables were full but there was no line to talk to the hostess and she seemed to be not doing anything. Finally my husband went over to talk to her and noticed that instead of doing her job, she was scrolling on Instagram. I had enough and went on a search to find a manager/another worker. I found a waitress who brought out the manager, he then apologized for the inconvenience and said the hostess was new to the job. The manager himself seated us. We waited 15 minutes for a server to come and 60 more for our food. The food then had to be sent back because I asked for a gluten free meal (I have a severe allergy) and they put bread on my plate! We were given no discount, free food, or anything for the whole experience. I am fed up with this and I could have died with the gluten! read more

My last order from Chili's in Auburndale lost points for service, not for the food. The food was good as usual, but I placed an order online and was given the message that it would be ready for pick up in 30 mins. When my husband arrived to pick it up there was confusion over the name it was placed under, they weren't able to find it, apparently they'd lost it so he had to wait over an hour for them to fill our order. When they finally got our order ready, no one offered any compensation for the inconvenience. I know we are dealing with Covid which puts more strain on businesses to step up thier game...especially on to go orders. However, I have had several mishaps with Chili's pre-Covid and thier take-out service was somewhat lacking even then. Every time I called about items being left out of our order they would always offer the inane option of having us coming back right away to fetch the item they left out. I'm in my home, ready to eat, in my pajamas...no, I'm not going back out again for an ear of corn. So I have to leave my name and number...ask for the manager's name, write myself a note of the date, the person I spoke with, and the manager who deigned to bestow upon me a "free" corn on my next visit IF I remember to ask for it. Then when I remind them on my next order they left out an item they check a list..as if I'd be desperate enough to lie about an ear of corn. Times are tough, but I can still afford an ear of corn! As,a business owner, If I had an unhappy customer who had been inconvenienced, I'd make it my responsibility to set something up in the computer to flag that customer so that the next time they ordered, the missed item would automatically be included with thier next order plus a complimentary coupon for a free item and an apology for the inconvenience. The way its handled now, it's like no big deal, don't get your panties in a twist, and it's on the customer to ask to be placed on the list and to ask for the manager's name, and as I've already stated. If they want to improve customer service, a sincere apology for the mishap helps, but nothing says I'm sorry I screwed up your order like a small complimentary item. Especially as often as it has happened on our orders. read more

Then 10 more minutes went by to get orders and the drinks themselves. A few more minutes went by to hear that the promotion email we got doesn't work at this Chilis. My wife and I stopped at Chili's for a late lunch on Saturday 5-7-22. We waited over 30 minutes to be seated in a restaurant where only half the tables were in use due to staff shortage. After being seated, we noted that not a single staff member, including the wait staff, introduced themselves by name which we feel is simply common courtesy. Lunch and the appetizer came at the same time and we never received the "free" chips and salsa as clearly advertised on the menu. The server forgot to bring any dipping sauce for the appetizers and when the sauce finally arrived, it had been heated in the microwave to the point it was actually steaming hot and my wife ended up burning her tongue with one bite! The food was positively sub-par. $15 for a burger that actually smelled bad was just outrageous. We considered returning everything but realized, the manager probably wouldn't really care and was probably used to multiple complaints daily. We also agree with a lot of the other comments, the place is just, dirty! Any pride this management and staff might have had at one time is non existent. Never again! So this is a Chili's, which we are all familiar with. This one is across the street from the Best Western and the Racetrac in Auburndale. We came here because we were in a somewhat unfamiliar place and were not feeling adventurous. It is times like these that a reliably clean place with familiar items comes in handy. I had the Margarita Grilled chicken which was good(as always), she had one of their new steaks topped with avocado and roasted tomato over asparagus(good, but much smaller than the picture), the kids had kids meals. What really stuck out was how great our waiter was. I'm terrible with names, but he was really friendly, attentive, and even entertained and joked with the kids. Lets start with we walked in and stood waiting to be seated for 5 minutes (the bar tables were all dirty) finally a hostess walks up and says "what are you looking for" seriously???? I told her a place to sit and she replied "well go in the bar... you can seat yourself ya know" Should have walked out right then!!! I told her the tables were dirty and she said well they'll clean them soon... then she walked away!!!! Amber was pleasant and patient as we figured out what we wanted. She even made some nice suggestions. Our drinks stayed full the whole time we were there (which is HUGE in my book as I'm also a server) when we got our food she was very attentive to our needs. The side of asparagus was flavorless and looked old... But the fajitas were pretty good. I always order fajitas at chili's. We didn't complain about the asparagus or anything while we were there... I chalk that disaster up to some food is just always better than others. However because of the way we were "greeted" (if you can even call it that) we will probably not be going back to ANY chilis anytime in the future. Terrible experience and will never go back. Service started off fine but quickly deteriorated. After we ordered, my food was not delivered and the waitress explained it just wasn't quite ready. Fine, I understand they were busy. No big deal. 20 minutes later though, my food had not arrived. I ordered a grilled chicken breast. We asked the waitress and she said it was almost ready. At the same time, we ordered a side of Mac/Cheese and she said it wouldn't be but a minute or two. Wrong. Even worse and while the waitress was away taking care of my food, one of the people in my party saw the waitress eating at a station on the other side of the restaurant. Since it had been an hour or more since I ordered, I asked management for the check and informed them that I didn't need the food that badly. An hour is more than enough time for a grilled chicken breast and steamed broccoli. Management was arrogant and rude in their response to my request to take my food off the check, which they ultimately did. However, it would have been better had they bought my wife's food too since I ate half her sandwich while we waited. During the entire time i was there, management did not even offer a salad, cup of soup, chips or anything while the rest of my party ate. This was one of the poorest examples of customer service I have ever experienced. After we left, the waitress and management then talked about how rude WE were to other people in the restaurant. These people happen to be friends of mine. Bad PR move Chilis. It was my second visit to this location in 3 days during a local soccer tournament and we brought in several groups there between games to eat and drink. I estimate we all spent well in excess of $500 over the course of this weekend alone. No telling how many times we have visited and how much money we have spent since the fields and this location opened. Based on this experience, we won't be back again. If I were Chili's management, I would consider firing this restaurant manager based on her poor attitude and complete disregard for customer service. Do not visit this location. read more

I could have understood if they would have been busy but with only about 12 customers in the entire place, that wasn't the case.
