Despite that, this ended up being one of the slowest breakfast experiences we've had. The "Gooey" "tear and share" item was nearly burnt and, ironically, very difficult to tear and share, even with a knife. Coffee was brought out promptly, which we appreciated, but it wasn't refilled until we were almost completely finished with the meal. I had just a couple bites left before finally getting a refill. Food overall was just okay. The Huevos Rancheros were fine but missing jalapeños, and my wife's Benedict was decent but had lite hollandaise sauce compared all the Benedict's we've had. For the price, this place doesn't deliver the level of quality or service you'd expect. Adding an automatic 20% tip on top of that just made the experience more frustrating, especially since the service felt in line with what you often see at places that auto-gratuity. Overall, not somewhere we'd return to.

The staff are very friendly and orders and requests are handled quickly. Nothing slow about this location! The food, however, is pretty terrible. We ordered a Guadalajara Special, Fajitas Texanas (no onion) and the kids chicken tenders and fries. Nothing was seasoned, and I mean nothing. No salt (even the fries!), no spice, no flavor. The sauce on the Guadalajara Special was pretty offensive and the piles of bland, plain chicken breast and plain, bland ground beef were glaringly absent of any taste of Mexican cuisine. The tamale was serviceable once you dug it out from under everything else, but the steak taquito might have been the only thing on the plate we enjoyed. The fajitas were pretty sparse and barely constituted a good serving - more like lunch size than dinner. Rice and beans were both similarly flavorless and the rice was terribly dry. The chips, tortillas and taquito shells all tasted like deep fried paper - again, no flavor. The ONLY thing on the table with a noticeable taste to it was the complimentary salsa, and then it was actually too spicy! I've been to other Mexico Restaurant locations and have enjoyed the food. I don't know what's going on in the kitchen in Mechanicsville, but we will never be back and I cannot recommend this location to anyone with taste buds.

Service (8/10) - The staff were extremely friendly and on top of things and it's a local restaurant so I not going to complain. Food (9/10) - and now for the main attraction, the food tastes pretty good. I had the Crab Cake Sandwich and it was seasoned and savory. My friend ordered mozzarella sticks and they were the best mozzarella sticks I've had so far, crisped and cheesy to perfection. The chicken salad piled high on a brioche bun plus the Chesdin Salad is piled high with a perfect grilled piece of chicken breast on top !! Service is casual and friendly.
