I was visiting the Indiana Dunes, from out of town and after a Long Beach day, we stopped in to this location for dinner. From the get go, we were greeted by a sweet young lady with a big smile and sat us at our booth. Our waiter, Aidan was fantastic! He had the chillest energy and was very friendly. I immediately requested the bill so I could pick up the tab for all three of us and he made me laugh with a reply - "Of course, I fully support you!" He was very attentive during our ordering, quick in serving us our food and all around spectacular, start to finish. Good job, Aidan! I ordered the crispy quesadilla with chicken crispers and it was a perfect light, yet filling meal. The salad was fresh, with a tasty combination of spices & freshly crisped chicken strips. The dressing was delicious and I always appreciate a side portion so that I can control how much I put on. I am not much of a dressing eating but this was delicious - sweet, smoking and a tiny hint of kick. I also ordered a classic frozen blackberry margarita and it was delicious! To the bartender, excellent job! Bathrooms were clean, and restaurant in general was well kept. All around a fantastic dinner and experience! Great location, right off I-94. While there a variety of QSR and sit-down eateries in this area, I'm familiar with the Chili's brand and gave it a shot. I wasn't disappointed. Ordered off their menu. This girl didn't stop moving, checking on everyone, getting everything everyone asked for instantly, watching the room to see when someone was about to be out of drinks or chips and making sure they never waited a second. I arrived post lunch rush and was "added to the wait list". I was informed there was a 5-10 minutes wait. There was one party ahead of me. 20 minutes later my party was seated at a table that was empty the entire time I stood there waiting. The wait staff had wiped it down 5 minutes after I got there 15 minutes before we were seated at it. During my wait one other party decided to endure the wait three others left. There were multiple tables empty during this time and yet people were left to stand and wait. There was no place to sit and wait at the door. The wait staff were great once we got seated. I have trouble standing so maybe next time I will just go down the road to Schoops at least they have a bench to wait on. After traveling on planes and trains all day mini and I were starving. Stopped here with the inlaws. Bad idea. Our server was lackluster, barely a presence. We had to request EVERYTHING by flagging her down. Silverware, refills, etc. All of our fries came out stone cold with zero seasoning. We had to ask for fresh ones. These came out perfect and with seasoning. Main meals lukewarm. Didn't want to wait for those to be re-made. The only meal that came out hot was the minis and it was so darn hot he couldn't even blow on it to cool it down. Plate and bowl it was served on and in were equally hot. When the manager finally did come to the table at the end of the meal he had no compassion for the possibility of fact that someone could get ill from the raw chicken. I waited upwards of 15 minutes for any interaction with my server at two different points in my meal. And the kicker was, there were only 4 tables sat in the entire place. You could actively hear the bartender and waitress arguing about clean glasses, which was...well, awkward. They seemed to focus on that more than their patrons. I am going to preface this review by saying I had already taken a star off because this restaurant is in the state of Indiana and Indiana has nothing 5 star worthy in this butthole of a state. They claimed they were cleaning a booth for us even though I could clearly see at least 6 empty, clean booths. Then, it took them another 15 minutes for them to take our order. I would put it on the same scale as Ruby Tuesday and probably worse than Applebee's .... and that's bad! The food was great: fresh guacamole, fajitas, great chips, and a fresh lime margarita. Sadly I left my favorite wool hat there, but called back about it within an hour. They found my hat in the booth and promised to hold it until I returned next weekend. We went out of our way to stop back to pickup the hat as they promised to hold it for us. Oddly and frustratingly, they lost the hat even though it was supposed to be locked in the managers desk with my name on it. Great food but poor customer service/management. Kudos to Brett for searching for my hat and to Mike (our waiter ) for hopefully putting it in the manager's desk. "My wife the coupon Queen had a coupon to buy one entrée and get one free. She had a classic turkey sandwich on Texas toast. She says it was very good. I had a burger with Swiss cheese and it was very good. The cheese was melted as it should be. We both had fries and they were crispy and golden as fries should be. We asked for a sample of the salsa and chips since we never had them here. They provided a full serving. The salsa was too sweat and had no fire, none at all. When I mentioned that to the waitress we were not charged for it. We were surprised that we would give them 4 stars but this trip they earned it. read more
