This place gets busy on the weekends but they are usually pretty quick even when it's packed. We went in on a busy Friday night and had put our names on the waitlist on the way to the restaurant. We only had to wait a couple minutes for a table once we got there. Our waiter John was so attentive and on top of everything. Prompt to get drink refills and checking in to see how we were doing. Even on a busy night he was doing such a great job. I had an issue with splitting the check on the tablet at the table and I messed the check up really bad. Poor John had to come help work out what I had done wrong and fix it. He was patient, kind and didn't make me feel like I was burdening him. When the tablet malfunctioned, Ray still gave us the free bottomless chips and salsa. He had a very fun and welcoming attitude, it was like we've known him for 20 years. Aside from service, the food was not only incredibly good, but also fresh and flavorful. My friend and I wanted to order the same exact thing, so when our food came out, we were surprised to only see 1 meal. When this was pointed out to Ray, he immediately apologized and made sure that the food was expedited for us. Amazing service. 10/10. I grew up in LA with amazing food from every mini mall to food trucks to the fancy pants restaurants. My parents introduced us to a wide variety of cultural foods from an early age. Any culture of food you wanted you could find in LA and often it was not tough to locate. South OC's roots were traditionally based more in chain restaurants. Things have been changing for a lot of years but on this Friday late afternoon the restaurant is almost sold out with people. It is what it is. The VALUE is the reason to dine here IMHO. They have various value price menus, and I dined with a friend who talked me into trying it again. The wife and I went to the AV location a decade or more ago before it closed down. My friend and I are cost-cutters by design and necessity, but I indulge much more with cuisine than he does. DINING SPACE and RESTROOM: -- showing its age and wear and tear -- could use a face lift but value menu pricing means it is unlikely -- restroom gets a lot of use as this is a bar/restaurant so not too pretty STAFF: -- Christopher was very friendly and attentive addressing every feature of your meal and ensuring everything was specific $10.99 "3 FOR ME" BURGER MEAL: -- I ordered a cheeseburger with fries, salad, Coke -- This is the only sit-down restaurant I can recall where you order a burger, and they do not ask how you want it cooked. Per Christopher, they normally cook it "medium well". I asked for less than that knowing they were not going to do my usual "medium-rare". It came out "medium" (a.k.a. "gray meat"). -- burger quality is similar to the Habit but not as good nor as much char or smoke on it -- requested grilled onions and they were not that but had touched the flame a few seconds it appears -- bun is flat but buttery and better tasting and better quality than the burger -- there was an ultra-thin (24-pound paper thin) slice of translucent cheddar cheese, so I was eating a cheeseburger on a "technicality" (such is life on a value menu); CHEESEBURGER RATING = C- -- side house salad -- tiny bowl did not allow me to add side of honey mustard without greens ending up on table; SALAD RATING = B- -- fries -- not crisp; no oily sheen; drier style; lightly salted at best; FRIES RATING = C- BILLING: -- love the full transparency with point-by-point pricing of very option; also makes Yelping easier In a nutshell, the only reason to come here is for a value meal. If you are here for anything else, you are doing yourself a disservice as there are much better chain restaurant options. But it all depends on whether you are a true foodie or not and whether you are an "eat to live" person or a "live to eat" person. read more

Ordered medium rare ribeye. Also medium sirloin. Sirloin was clearly overcooked to well but that is sometimes a little subjective but a medium rare ribeye that is cooked to well done with no coloration except grey brown is clearly well done. Cut in middle through thickest part with no coloration except grey. Sent it back immediately as this was a fail but easily corrected. Now we are with a group and none of us is very young which means my mother is having to eat and so the table is eating their food (including the very overdone sirloin as my wife did not want to further embarrass the group or have 2 meals sent back when this was a family dinner). So after about 6-7 minutes of waiting the manager comes over and under the premise of wanting to acknowledge they were GOING to redo the ribeye, says he understands there was a problem and food returned and then points out some meat color chart on a pictorial graphic lime trying to educate a young child. The meat was clearly overcooked and well done and they had not even started to address the problem at that time. No pink or anything slightly resembling less than well done and he wanted to take a condescending approach while the rest of the table was anxious about eating while watching one not having any food or plate. This was handled very badly and so since no attempt to rapidly address the problem was made the order was changed to a grilled chicken salad with expressed desire to NOT OVERCOOK the grilled chicken. I'm a long time reviewer as well as the fact we go to this chilis and have left favorable reviews many times in the past. The salad came out in about another 5 minutes and the chicken was cooked to dry and hard consistency. It was clearly and without question not done properly and the real question remains was this intentional? I'm sorry but this was a bad experience an certainly not one I wish to repeat. Done with this chili's for the foreseeable future. They need a management retraining. Left a decent gratuity as the server was not at fault and this was clearly a failure of management and the back of house cooking staff. The server was only doing her job. read more

I may be biased because I am Chili's biggest fan, but I can still separate good experiences from my fandom. I really like this location! It is the closest one to me but still my favorite one down here! The food is always good. Our orders have never been messed up, our food has always come out in a timely manner, the drinks are always good, and I always have leftovers (which I love) to enjoy later. The employees here are all younger but they are all very nice. I've never had an encounter less than kind here with any of the employees. They are also great at checking in while you are seated to see if you need anything else. As for the building itself, I honestly think this is one of the prettier Chili's locations I've seen. In the front corners of the restaurant, there is window seating and the corner is rounded, not 90 degrees. This just really gives a home-y vibe to me. It is also a smaller Chili's but I wouldn't consider it to be crowded. I would love to try and sit at the bar here sometime. I've been to this Chili's twice now, and I can vouch for the quality of the food. The chef makes his entrees presentable and tasty. The chicken enchilada soup in particular is outstanding. The burgers are always made exactly as I order them. I also like that this place is easy to access. It's basically next to a subdivision off Crown Parkway, which itself is accessible from Margarite Pkwy. In other words, you won't be driving through an annoying parking lot maze to get here. What stops me from giving a fifth star is the slow service. I think this Chili's might be understaffed. It takes longer than it should to place an order. The food arrives in a reasonable time once placed, but don't be surprised if you are waiting past when you're ready to order.
