I'm normally not into big chain type restaurants, but these guys were on their game today when I went to lunch here with my daughter after an appointment in the area. I wish I knew the name of our server as she was wonderful. I'll update this if I can find my receipt with her name on it....she was that great. Drink refills before our glasses were empty and she accommodated a special request without hesitation. She was even nice enough to plug my phone in in the back so I'd have it charged when we left. I haven't been here for at least a year. Was surprised by the change this place has had. Very nice and clean with delicious menu items.

The hostess was impersonal, unprofessional, and we could hear her being rude to customers and then talking about them as they were out of ear shot. The waitress was prompt and kind. The food came out timely. The food was terrible. Very bummed at this visit. Not one dish was cooked properly. I'm guessing just a bad day for the Modesto Chili's. read more

They get 3 due to atmosphere, price, and service (even though it took a while, busy) but food which is 2 stars for me was horrible. Don't get me wrong, I actually love Chillis but the one from the mall, especially when they are busy, left me wishing for more. Their winning "TNT craft burger" sucked. Cole slaw was just a dry bit of cabbage and only 3 fried pickles. They also forgot my side of pickles. Beef patty was good but it was as if that was the whole burger. If you order one hopefully it's better than mine. Chillis chain is great but this one I will never visit again. My wife's shrimp tacos and daughters grilled chicken were ok though. I think if you stick to their core meñu you will be fine, but don't bite on their new stuff unless it makes it to their core meñu. read more

Visited chili's on Friday April 5th and the honestly the burger I got was dry and didn't have that much cheese on it, the fries were good and so was the appetizer which was the Texas cheese fries. This location has seriously went downhill, we got there and they weren't busy at all but we waited about 10 min before anyone came to seat us, I think there was only 3 maybe 4 people working seriously . Our server was very rude. We've been going to Chili's 2 or 3 times a month for years, and always been able to use rewards on anything on the entire menu. My husband and I are seniors, and don't eat a lot, so we generally share what used to be a 3 for $10 meal (now a 3 for Me meal, and $11.99 meal for the items we like). Suddenly, they will not accept rewards if you order a 3 for Me meal. When we ordered and stated that we were sharing, we specifically asked for extra plates for the salad and the meal, and asked that they bring them in advance, since they usually wait until after they deliver the meal and we end up eating cold food. Of course, they did not bring extra plates for either the salad or the meal - we got them both after each course was delivered! In addition, when we paid our bill, the change was supposed to be $7.06 - we got back $7.00. That is theft. It's not the 6¢, it's the principle. Imagine if they kept 6¢ from every single customer for a year - they would make a fortune! Chili's just lost two customers! read more

Have you ever walked into a restaurant & felt so unwelcome? I had never experienced that feeling until I walked into this restaurant last night. The hostess was so rude & extremely ghetto (excuse the slur) I really don't have any other word to describe how unpleasant she was. She advised us that they were closing in 40mins & made my friends & I feel like a burden. We were seated & our server, Jasmyn took care of us. The ONLY reason I am writing this review is simply to acknowledge this young lady. She was so nice & despite how late it was she kept a smile on her face the entire time. Came here today for lunch with my family, so grateful we had gift cards and did not have to pay for this lackluster meal. We used to come here often, but boy has a food gone downhill. The host today, along with our waiter, we're very nice, and professional, but the food, I just cannot believe how bad the quality was. I travel a lot all around the US. Chili's is a great safe place for dinner. I usually order a salad - it's consistently good no matter which city I happen to be in at the time. We decided not to cook since it was 100 degrees today. My husband wanted to have Chili's. We have not had Chili's in a very long time. He likes their ribs. We also ordered on Food Jets, something which is somewhat new in Modesto. The delivery was fine. The food was not what I would call terrific. My husband ordered 1/2 rack of ribs with the original sauce. It comes with fry, maybe it was fries. The size of the portion was tiny. He also ordered a side salad and that was fine. I ordered the 3 meat combo platter. I chose the 1/2 rack of ribs with their original sauce. If you love mustard you will love these. The mustard taste was overwhelming. I could not eat them. I left them for my husband. I know he will eat them on another day. I also ordered the chicken breast which was ho-hum at best. I could have done better with a bottle of Bulls Eye in my oven. The last meat were supposedly chicken crispers. These were not crisp. They were rather soggy. The chicken was rubbery. I am glad the coating was soggy. I pulled it off so I would only eat the chicken. This three course meal also comes with a cob of corn with a skewer stuck into the end. That was fine. The garlic bread was alright but why do they need to put chili powder on it. I realize the name of the restaurant is Chili's, but it certainly wrecked the flavor for me. I also ordered a salad. What they did not mention in their description is they put spinach in with their salad greens. I cannot eat spinach due to a dietary restriction. I spent time picking over the salad before I could eat it. This was an expensive meal for the two of us. It was almost a week's grocery bill. If my husband wants to eat there again I will go along, but I will order a hamburger. At least I hope that would be safe and not too full of surprises. read more

I tend to come here very often for their amazing deals but yesterday 11/23/19, my boyfriend and I went there for lunch, we both ordered the 3/10 deal. I ordered the margarita chicken.. we got the chips and salsa as an appetizer and free thing I get with my rewards, well we ate all our chips and the waitress not once asked if we wanted more like they ALWAYS DO... but I thought oh well I'm excited for my food....anyways..I was so excited to eat because of their amazing food, so once my food came I just started to dig in. As I was eating I took about two or three bites then I looked closely and saw a piece of PLASTIC in my food. I grabbed it and showed the waitress and she was not apologetic at ALL. There was no compassion for their mistake or even acknowledging that they messed up. I requested another one as she stared blankly at me when I told her that.. then she gave me another plate of this, and she did not check on us once even asking if things were ok. So then the bill comes, they didn't even comp me for their mistake or have a manager come and apologize, I told my boyfriend that I don't think I should pay for this if they messed up, so I took the receipt up to our waitress and told her I don't think I should be paying for the margarita chicken that had plastic in it and she said I'll get the manager, well then manager came said nothing to me took it off and said here you go. Again no apologies or acknowledgment of their mistake. I understand mistakes happen and things like this can happen but acknowledge the mistake and talk with the customer! Horrible experience the last three times I've been there. I went about a month ago and they forgot my food completely but tried to cover it up and brought it out right away because it was "almost ready" when three other people ordered the same thing as me and got their food ten minutes ago. Just chicken tenders nothing fancy. The waiter came back in the matter of seconds with my "almost ready" food and it wasn't even what I ordered. Then when it came time to pay he expected me to pay for the food that I didn't even get (more expensive). I just left tonight and all I ordered was chips and salsa at a table of about 11 people and she came down and set the basket of chips on the entire opposite side of the table I was at and walked away. I didn't see her set them there but I didn't notice that they were on the whole other side until we were about to leave. Needless to say I was expected to pay for those too. Well I should have known it was gonna be a horrible experience when we first walked in as the hostess didn't greet anyone, and when she was calling out names for when tables were ready the person standing 2 feet in front of her couldn't hear her. She would only say the name once and if no one responded she would just go onto the next name, didn't bother to check to see if anyone was waiting outside or anything. Well, we get seated and our drink orders are taken and brought, we order and wait, and wait and wait some more. It's Monday and the NFL is on, we seriously waited for food for almost half of the game, and all the while our waitress never once came to see if we needed refills or to check on us at all. But that didn't stop her from talking for minutes on end to what I suspect was a fellow non working employee who was seated behind us. So finally our food is brought to the table my kids are starving by this time and everything is ice cold. Seriously I had ordered fajitas and the skillet and its contents felt as if they were sitting outside in the 30 degree weather for 30 minutes, oh and did I mention that it was a different employee that brought the food. We still hadn't seen or heard from our original waitress for over an hour. When I tell them that they need to take my plate back as its ice cold the waitress gets an attitude and then goes and gets our original waitress who doesn't seemed to be all that phased by my issue with my fajitas basically having frost on them, we then let them know everything is cold but since my kids are practically starving we don't really have an option but to let them eat it, since god knows when they would ever see food again. The waitress then storms off flailing her hands in the air and a while later brings my fajitas back, hot this time, and tells us she is sorry but the kitchen is messing up orders and is messing with her money in the process. My sister in law ordered a salad which didn't have any salad dressing with it, we let the waitress know after she went on her little tirade, in the mean time the manager comes over to apologize about everything and to let us know she would be taking a discount off our meal for the inconvenience. In the meantime the waitress brings the salad dressing and manages to completely disappear for the rest of the night never once coming back, but she still managed to take her sweet time talking to the person behind us time and time again, so we finish eating and go to pay for our food and notice nothing has been taken off of the check or any discount what so ever. So we have to hunt down our waitress she then looks at our tag and leaves doesn't say anything then comes back and takes the discount off and leaves doesn't say anything, we ask her for a box she says she will get one but almost 8 minutes go by and she had passed us twice, I had to get up and basically walk into the kitchen to get someones attention to finally get a box so we could leave. In all it took over 2 1/2 hours to get out of there. Needless to say someone basically lost their tip with how they mismanaged the situation by never trying to make up for it. Horrible, never going back to this location and yelp really needs to allow people to leave no stars, cause that is what is deserved of this place. read more

The wait time for your inedible food is not up to 45 minutes, but don't worry, you probably won't want to eat it anyway. Deduct one star from my last review making 0 stars. I really enjoy chili's always have. This is my first review. We came at a perfect time on a Saturday which was 12pm. We were greeted and seated real quick. Our server Rita was a sweetheart. She was real busy but still managed to take care of our every need. My special needs child had a meltdown and she didn't bat an eyelash. I really appreciate that. I will come again.
