Dined at the location and received moldy cheese to go with my fajitas...not just once but twice! Spoke with a manager named Lisa who showed absolutely NO concern when brought to her attention! Not even an apology until I called her on it! Spoke to another manager that questioned whether it was mold or pepper jack cheese, I pulled up the picture of what was undoubtedly mold! Now I understand mistakes can be made, but it's how you handle yourself that deems whether or not you will continue to get my business! I let management know that I would be calling their corporate office to bring the matter of moldy cheese and poor customer service to their attention. Here's the kicker...I called gave my report to them and was told they would most definitely contact me within 24-48 hours. Guess what...no return call! Chili's your customer service is inexcusable! I will not return to your restaurant chain! If you fail your customers during the current crisis for something of this nature...just imagine you're not following additional guidelines as well! read more

Chili's - Moldy cheese for fajitas - American Near Me - Valparaiso, Indiana

I'd never been to a Chili's before. Not anywhere, not any time. But I saw a commercial earlier this week for a Queso Burger and it just looked amazing, and I had planned to do some shopping today in Valpo and the surrounding area (I'm not from there, but about an hour away) and I decided that I was going to go to Chili's and get this burger while on my shopping trip. I'm really glad I did. It was part of their 3 for $10 deal (limited time only) and I still can't believe the amount of food I got for just ten bucks. For my appetizer I got the chips and salsa and I was expecting like a handful of chips, since I am just one person, and I was blown away immediately because I got an entire huge plateful of chips. There were so many I had to take them home! Then the burger came and it came with a huge amount of fries. I fully admit that, because I was expecting a $10 meal, I thought I'd get little bits of things like a few chips and a few fries. Nope. My $10 meal easily netted me $20 worth of food. It was quite impressive! But the burger...wow! First off, it was huge. Again, I (wrongly) had expectations of getting like a snack-size sandwich or something. Nope! I don't like well-done burgers, and this wasn't. It had the perfect amount of pink inside and was juicy as all get out. It had lots of queso drizzled over it and it also had some pico on it and crispy tortilla strips. It was fantastic, and messy! I had to wipe my mouth after every bite! The bill came and sure enough, my total after tax was $10.70. All of that food for that little amount! I couldn't believe it. I paid and left with my left over chips and salsa, nice and full and happy. My waitress was also really good and friendly, which is always a plus. The only complaints I have are: I know that it is now the Fall season, and the temperature outside only got up to 55 degrees today, but they had the heat CRANKED in the place and I was quite warm. I wasn't alone on that, as I heard the people next to me complain about being hot too. They definitely need to turn the heat down in the place, or they're gonna be sweating customers out until May. The second complaint: the salsa with my chips and salsa was super watery. It had good flavor, and I still enjoyed it because of the flavor, but I like a thick salsa and this really was watery. It just dripped right off of every chip I dunked in it. Other than those two minor things, it was a pleasant, eye-opening experience and if I don't make it back to this location, I definitely plan on hitting up a Chili's somewhere else some time. We ate at Chili's today. The service was average but what was most disappointing was the fact that dirty dishes were left on all the tables. Waitresses take your order and get lost. Someone else brings out the food. So, you have the pleasure of eating and then looking at your dirty dishes. And you get to look at dirty dishes at the table across from you. I had a ton of fun at the bar here yesterday! My BF and I ordered a great $35 meal deal-2 margaritas, 1 appetizer, 2 entrees, and 1 dessert were included. Everything was great, from the panko crusted onion rings to the strawberry "presidente" margarita to the molten chocolate cake...even my grilled chicken salad was awesome and satisfying! The bartender (as well as the other patrons) were super nice, but maybe that's just how people are in the Midwest lol. read more

Went in on a Friday and was able to be sat in under 20 mins. The food was great and our server's recommendations on drinks were fantastic.

This past summer I went there with my boyfriend and we were so shocked by the service we received. Our waiter seemed annoyed with us and he even rolled his eyes at us. We're both nineteen and it felt like he thought we were wasting his time. He got snappy with us when we ordered drinks and told my boyfriend he was ruining his food by asking for no onions or ranch, I laughed thinking it obviously was a joke, but was returned with a dirty look. We then got the food with both onions and ranch on it, and when asked for it to be replaced got even more attitude. It got to the point where I wanted to leave without eating anything. We had to ask him to give us silverware and he got even more annoyed, this is when I searched what time chilis closed because maybe we came too late and that is why we were receiving this treatment? It was two full hours before close. He then continued to roll his silverware about a table away from us and watch us eat???? The food was okay, and it was my boyfriends first and only experience at chilis but it put such a bad taste in our mouth we no longer want to go back to this location. I think his name was Tim? Smoked a few cigarettes in the car as we waited for our table to be ready. 45 minutes in the freezing cold waiting to eat then yelp about it. Finally the door burst open and the table is well prepared for northwest Indiana's most prominent yelper. Order was gleefully taken and the food began to be prepared. First the cherry-vanilla Dr. Pepper was so tasty I could hardly contain my excitement about a refill. Then the food came all over the table. Lol The honey chipotle chicken crispers were to die for. I was having a hard time trying to enjoy my meal as the one across the table was ripping ass, I guess the chicken ranch sandwich will do that to you...................sorry to cut this yelp short but I gotta drag race home now to destroy the porcelain god. So I have to say that this chili's is actually better than most other chili's. We live close to this chili's and if you map other restaurants in the area you'll see other chain restaurants. We've eaten here 3 times now and I will say that employees are friendly and give good service. The restaurant is very clean compared to their competitors in this area. Food is hot and cooked well and my chicken is juicy on my sandwich. On this visit we optioned for pick up. First time we've done this. My husband got a hamburger with cheese and I got the chicken avocado sandwiches. Two come in this order. Unfortunately they must have been low on their small sized sandwich roll because they prepared it on a long sub like roll. The sandwich was still good but with that said, the food here may not always be consistent. One thing I will mention that has been consistent are their fries. Am I the only person who has problems with Chili's every time? I grew up going there and like to take my family every once in awhile. Recently, we ordered a to go. We were missing an entire entree, a bowl of soup, ice creams for our cakes. I called, which I usually don't even do but this was well over $20 worth of missing food. The manager was very nice and apologetic and asked for my address to send be our guest coupons. Just received two $5 coupons... I just want to send them back! When my party and I got there - we were told it would be an hour wait. We waited for the hour, then when we were told we were next in line, they told us it would be another 30 minutes. Then a party of nine comes in, who checked in 30 minutes AFTER us, came in and got seated at the table the staff had been telling us was ours. Very disappointed in the communication. You assume that Chili's are all the same. Not so. According to my daddy he has been to a few and customer service is always variant. The food and drinks are nearly all the same. Their margaritas are really good. The cheap one is not worth your money. spend a bit extra and go for the platinum presidente and get more margarita and equal out moneywise and get better quality. The new shrimp tacos are spicier than you think. If you like spicy, daddy says get them. Overall this valpo one has good customer service and they have a great open bar area. read more

Our teen grandkids likes Chili's normally. We have visited the Chili's in Merrillville at Southlake Mall and had great service and hot delicious food . Sadly we have not experienced the same in Valparaiso. Our ribs were barely warm as was our fajitas. Very little meat but plenty of onions! I'd like to start by stating this is for THIS LOCATION only. Chili's, while not the most healthy for you, is generally very good food for a decent price. Twice now, I have walked into this Chili's to find not only no hostess, but also no one that seems to give any concern that I've walked into this restaurant to give them my money. The first time I walked in with my wife, about 4:30 or so for an earlier dinner. No hostess, but that's not a big deal because I understand 4:30 isn't prime time. So we stood in the entrance. The bartender had a direct sight line to us and made eye contact with us twice but said nothing. A server walked by looking at us twice and again not so much as a "Welcome to Chili's, we'll be right with you." After 5 minutes of waiting, (Not kidding, 5.) We decided to spend our money elsewhere. The Red Robin around the corner opened the door for us and had us sat instantly...At the same "odd" time that Chili's couldn't even say Hi to us. I wrote corporate about my experience and they offered us some dining dollars and apologized. We used them at another Chili's location and were treated well. Flash forward to my next visit. My dad is in town and is a fan of Chili's. He wants to go. It's maybe 4 PM, so I briefly relate my story to him about my last visit. But, I say, surely this time will be better. We walk in, and the scenario is almost exactly the same. Bartender looking at us like we are aliens, Servers walking by without saying anything, no hostess anywhere to be found. My dad, who wanted to go there in the first place, says, "I don't like this, lets go". So after waiting another 4 minutes we again go across the street this time to TGI Friday's where AGAIN the door is opened for us and we receive excellent service. It's pretty hard to get people to come back when they can't even get past the door. I'm done going to this Chili's, especially when there's competitors that obviously want my business within walking distance. read more
