I tried the Sweater Weather ($6) in the small size. It includes coffee/biscotti, toffee, and hot fudge! This was a great balance with the slightly bitter coffee base and the sweeter toffee and hot fudge. The biscotti added a nice crunch! I wish they added more. I would recommend upgrading sizes from the small to the medium! Just 50 more cents for a slightly larger size. The ice cream was super creamy. I also tried some of my friend's strawberry cheesecake. This is one of our favorite ice cream places in town. It's a little expensive and a little on the slow side because you have to wait for them to actually make your ice cream. On the plus side it's super fresh, with zero ice crystals. As mentioned by others there's a ton of flavors you can add to the base. It's possible to make amazing ice cream and also make something completely vile, if that's more your speed They lean kind of hard into the lab theme, which is cool, but also maybe deliberately on the sterile side. This would be a great place to bring your kid to. Hell as an adult, the place is awesome. You walk in and the menu is themed as a scientific periodic table. They have a giant nitrogen tank at the front of the place. They had all kinds of options on the wall from flavors to mixings. The workers although a bit lack luckster(HS students) were great at making our concoction of icecream. The place has a couple of outdoor seating options as well if you are traveling with your pets after a walk at Hardberger park. The inside looks like a lab. Best ice cream in SA, right here! We stopped by on a whim because we wanted dessert and were in the area, so glad we did. They make all of the ice cream fresh for each order depending on the options chosen. Most importantly, they have non-dairy options! I was able to get oat milk ice cream, and I am so very excited about it! I ordered mine with nutella, coffee, and whipped cream (a small amount of whipped cream doesn't upset my stomach the way a bowl of dairy ice cream does) and will be hard pressed not to order that every time, it was so good. Husband got chocolate with oreo and loved his as well. The ice cream is the creamiest I have ever had, obviously it is something about the way they make it with the liquid nitrogen that does it. It is a little crowded in the actual shop, so we sat outside (was also quieter outside, go figure an ice cream place is full of children ;) ). The workers were so very polite, the store itself was spotless, it is clear they take pride in their work and the shop itself. First time stopping by Chill-N Nitrogen Ice Cream today. Had seen the post by Elder Eats. We ate dinner nearby and walked over for dessert. I was quickly briefed on the choices and options. My husband had the Fruity Pebbles. Dad and I shared a medium strawberry and banana with rainbow sprinkles and watched the magic happen in front of our eyes. Ice Cream with Tres Leches base + almonds + brownie = 3.5/5 all the ingredient were tossed in the mixer but the brownie wasn't mixed properly in it. It just had a huge chunck of brownie together at the bottom. Ice cream with Nutella base + almonds + waffle - 4.5/5. It was nice and good the waffle made it crunchy. I felt it was a bit different than the regular ice cream but worth the try. Con, you cannot try to sample out the flavors before hand as they are all made and mixed when we place an order only. Also each topping is about $0.75/each. On an average for a small ice cream it's $9 with 2 toppings. I felt it is a bit pricey than the other ice cream stores. I've tried the Cuban coffee, the almond joy, the matcha, the Dulce de leche, and even the tart yogurt and they all beat any ice cream in town. Chillin' like a Villain! Everyone knows that when you add "Nitro" to anything, it gets better! Think about it- there's Nitro from American Gladiator- awesome. Nitro funny cars, nitro coffee. Oxide is usually just boring rust, but add nitrous, and it's hilarious! Nitrogen's even an upsell to fill your tires with pure nitrogen at the tire shop. Yea, even though regular air is already 78% nitrogen, they go 100%. You see, nitrogen ice cream is completely different from other ice creams- it's waaay colder, so it freezes faster, causing smaller ice crystals to form than would normally form in traditional freezers. These smaller ice crystals give a creamier, denser consistency and taste to a ice cream, which is delicious. They have a science theme to the place, where you order from an iPad, and get various chemically sounding labelled items, add ons, etc. The liquid nitrogen is piped in from a giant tank, into a bowl mixer where it all freezes up. It's quite a scene- nitrogen clouds come billowing out every time they make a dessert! Nom! The place is clean- the tables were wiped down when we went- on National Ice Cream Day- they were busy, but efficiently served the crowds on a hot July day, while keeping things shining clean! She was so nice and outgoing that we thought she might be related to the owners. When we asked her she said she was the owner. She's only 21 years old and running her own business. My hubs was in the mood..........to try a new ice cream joint, Nitrogen ice cream to be specific. So i used Apple Maps to find this little gem, the only one I town- I believe ? Nice part of town (Alon heb shopping center) the place is super clean with bright lighting and white walls. The first thing the young whipper snappers behind the counter is "have you been here before?" Then explained how the process works (see pics) I am lactose challenged so I was VERY happy to see the non dairy choices. We loved seeing the freezing process done right in front of us. I was sitting at an outdoor table waiting for ice cream to be made when a staff member came up and sprayed table cleaner on the table in my face and told me the table was reserved for people coming in 10 minutes and I had to get up. It's average ice cream with a gimmick that makes it super over priced. Staff is so rude. Never going there again. My roommate and I had been off NWMilitary and Wurzbach at the Alon HEB area when stumbling upon this new find. It was funny because we were thinking it was either a Thai or Mexican restaurant but to our happy surprise it was a place to get some of the best creamy icecream with a spin of science added. Awesome. As soon as my daughter and I walked in to a clean shop, we were greeted by 2 enthusiastic employees behind the counter. They were very personable and wanted to be there. The young lady asks if I've ever been there before and cheerfully explained the concept and how to order. There were a lot of impressive options, but it was not overwhelming. What was refreshing to see was that there were vegan options as well. My daughter ordered ice cream as her "base" and I ordered oat milk based. All I can say is that it was surprisingly delicious for being made out of oat milk. Because the frozen desert is made using nitrogen, the results make it smooth like buttah. And it looks magical when made. We will definitely be back for the service, experience, and delicious ice cream. read more
