Where do I begin? I started going to Chiloso almost 10 years ago when I worked in Richardson. A couple of years ago, I found that they had a location in Frisco where my mom works. Since then I've been to this location 3 or 4 times whenever I come into this area. We always get the stuffed avocados but today, myself and my daughter decided to try something different. We ordered a bowl and my daughter asked the worker what sauces they had and whether any were spicy. We pointed to the green sauce which was avocado, lime and something else. He said it was a little spicy but he didn't just stop there. He asked her if she doesn't like spicy. She said no, but I like a little spice. He then proceeded to ask her "And you came to a Mexican restaurant? Do you even know what Mexican food is known for?" That comment was completely unnecessary. He could have kept that to his self. Not all food at Mexican restaurants are spicy and everyone has different tolerances. It instantly ruined her vibe and at that point, we didn't even bother to respond to that stupidity and just wanted to get our food and leave. We just got home and the bowl was good and the sauce had no spice - no complaints there, but customer service like that makes a person not want to come back. read more

This can be confusing. Entering and joining the line a drink refrigerator is your first stop. Premium waters, beer in cans and coke in old fashioned bottles (probably from Mexican bottlers) and a few other items. Is this the full drink selection? Next you see a "chipotle" like station offering burritos, tacos etc. But, the menu on the wall also offers salmon and WAGU beef. We ordered tacos and nachos. Once seated we noticed the self serve Coke beverage station, so there are more choices. We also noticed other tables with the numbered signs for servers to deliver to. We assume they are getting items prepared to order. The food is excellent. Next time we will be more prepared. Chiloso is succeeding at offering something for everyone in a group or family. They eliminate reasons not to go there (someone wants a beer and salmon for example). This is really smart. On a Monday night, there was a steady flow of customers coming in. Chuys and Chipotle you're on notice. On first approach it would be easy to look at this place and think this is another fast casual place along the lines of Subway and Chipotle and you wouldn't be wrong. You wouldn't be wrong one bit. And that would be fine. But you're missing it entirely. While Chipotle maybe fantastic, I'd stop short of calling it sit down restaurant quality food. Chiloso is true restaurant quality food done quickly and in expensively. I'd put the quality of food up there with Chuys but better and it blows past On The Border as well. The prices are quite reasonable as well $5 for a taco may seem like a lot but they really over stuff them. Look at my pics and see. So instead of those other places I use to go at the very least Chipotle has been replaced and I'll be going to Chuys less. read more

Excellent experience from start to finish. The staff was friendly, attentive, and efficient the moment I walked in. My order was taken promptly, the food was fresh and flavorful, and the overall atmosphere was welcoming. This is how a restaurant should be run--acknowledge the customer, move with purpose, and take pride in the service. Clean establishment. It was almost closing time but the staff did not make me feel rushed. I would compare this to Chipotle but on a wee bit higher scale. The options were plentiful. Various types of chicken steak and they even had ground beef! My favorite: the chicken (cubed), cilantro lime rice, refried beans; the sautéed onions and GUACAMOLE...to DIE for with one minor CON for me. The guacamole had diced jalapeños in it and it was too spicy for my liking but the flavor was my gawd goodness! The chips were average nothing special. I didn't take any photos my bowl was more than I bargained for. My friend got the jalapeño ranch it was a little pricey for my taste and she loves it. Try it and see you may like it too. Have been going to this place for years as it expanded all throughout DFW. Other than the amazing flavors, one of my favorite parts is that you can always tell it's fresh. Basically a better version of chipotle for many reasons. 1. Free queso on entrees 2. Free chips and salsa (refills on both if needed) 3. I popped in today after not having eaten here in quite a while. Ordered a salmon taco (made to order vs the build your own bowl line) and perused reviews while I waited, thanks Yelp, for my lunchtime entertainment. Anyway...there were a number of rough reviews from a few years ago, but I was quite happy with my Monday lunch! Taco was hot, fresh and flavorful. Guac was super-fresh and I know because I've got special brown-avocado detection skills. I was served a flavorful side of rice as well, and when I observed that all three salsas/sauces looked good at checkout, she happy gave me all three. Restaurant is very clean and has been well-maintained since I was last here. I'll certainly be stopping by more often. read more

I'd been hearing a lot of buzz about Chiloso as a replacement for that other big chain burrito place and I had to take a trip out to try it out as I apparently live in the no mans land that they skipped over as a part of their expansion strategy. I'm happy to say, I think the category might have a new leader. It's always hard to rate a build your own bowl place as the experience generally comes down to how much the managers clamp down on portion sizes and how generous the employee is feeling at the time, but if my experience is anything like the norm then I would say this place is more generous than any of the competition. For a slight premium, I got more, far fresher tasting ingredients than the other places with chips and salsa included. Good value for the money as I likely could have just eaten this today and been fine. The biggest surprise to me is there was some actual spice to my relatively simple bowl. I'm not sure if it was something in the Mexican rice, the queso, the steak marinade, or maybe even something in the guac, but I have a low spicy burn throughout the meal which doesn't tend to happen without a salsa in these kind of places. Spicy food lovers take note. Overall Chiloso was really good for what it is. Would I drive 40 miles round trip and pay $7 in tolls to eat there again? No. If they opened one in Carrollton however I doubt I'd ever set foot into a competitor ever again. Worth checking out if you have one in your area. read more

This place is casual and has music playing to add to the ambiance. They have a build your own taco and nacho type concept and some other plates. I opted for a grilled avocado with chicken, but you can choose from all their meat options and cheeses. It was delicious. My huabamd had the quesadilla and my son had the nachos. Hearty portions. We wanted to try Tex-Mex tonight so when we saw a familiar name we thought we'd give this location a try. The portion size was great. Our server made our 2 Chicken Bowl to-go orders as if we were "eating in". Since I wasn't taking care of the ticket, I was told that the EXTRA $3.25 guacamole price should have been mentioned prior to it being placed on my bowl. I overlooked this small mishap with the complimentary small bag of chips and salsa that came with each chicken bowl. The ingredients were all fresh, not frozen, or pre-made. I'll be back! read more

I made the rounds tonight of taco places since I was in Frisco. Unfortunately, another fail in the books. Overpriced for what it is but I will say the atmosphere was pleasant and the people working were so happy and friendly. The cost of the food was priced as if it were a restaurant and it's just not. It's better then a bad Taco Bell but not as good as Rosa's with prices of over $10 here. I wish I could give it a better review but there are too many Tex Mex places to return to this one. The chips were stale and so greasy. I don't know what's going on here but it sort of grossed me. Beans were not cooked and flavorless. The rice was clumpy and tomatoes were nasty. I thought this place was fantastic. It's like an upgraded version of Chipotle. The food was high quality we got bowls and a blackened salmon taco. The salmon was seasoned perfectly. My first try at Chiloso and I got the chicken quesadillas. It came with rice ( better than most) and refried beans. The quesadillas were really good and loaded with chicken and cheese. I could taste and see the meat! I went for lunch at an off time and they were not busy. My questions were answered on what I was ordering and the staff was friendly. Ample seating and relaxed atmosphere. Very clean. I will try again and order something different. I did not think to take a picture of what I got and now it's too late. It's all gone... I want in excited to try this place but I was disappointed. First when I asked the girl at the front questions over the menu she sounded lost. I made sure to ask if the shrimp tacos came with rice and beans and she did yes. Never asked what kind of beans I wanted or anything else. My total was almost 20 bucks for 3 tacos and rice. The beans were in the smallest container and when I asked the worked if that was suppose to be the size and she said yes. RIDICULOUS SHE EITHER LIED ABOUT THE SIDES THAT COME WITH MY CHOICE OF FOOD OR THEY JUSY SCAM YOU WITH THEIR PORTIONS. All she said was sorry and didn't even offer a solutions. So happy Chiloso finally made it's way to Frisco!! I've been to the Denton location and was always sad that they didn't have one closer to me. Problem solved!! The build your own nachos are my go to. This time I got the pulled pork and it was fantastic! All of the ingredients were super fresh. They definitely don't skimp on anything. Additionally, the space was very modern, clean, and the staff members were super sweet and helpful! Even though this location just opened, they clearly know what they're doing here. Used to be a huge fan of chiloso, like i mean have it 4 times a week lol, but ever since they started combining the white meat chicken with onions and peppers, i am unable to get it due to allergies. They have both the peppers and onions as options to add on the side so it makes no sense to add them to the chicken, when the chicken still tastes the same without them. I'm a chipotle fan, so my wife wanted me to try something similar so she recommended this place. I purchased 3 kids steak burritos, 1 order of steak nachos, and a bowl 1/2 chicken, 1/2 steak. My total was $54.94. My steak was Luke warm and my chicken was super dry. My kids threw their burritos away after a couple of bites. It wasn't terrible, but it could have been fresher. I've been here a few times and each time the customer service is less than stellar and today the food wasn't too good. The two young ladies taking orders usually don't have a smile on their faces and kind of look like they'd rather be anywhere else than there. I used to love this place. The service has gone downhill. I Went in to get a breakfast bowl. I don't eat meat, eggs or cheese so I wanted to get a base of potatoes then load up on the veggies. They put 2 small scoops of potatoes (that didn't cover the bottom of the bowl) so I asked for 2 more. They said they would have to charge extra. I asked if i ordered 2 scoops of all the meat, eggs, refried beans and cheese it would be the same price as just the 2 small scoops of potatoes. The Mgr said yes because the 2 additional scoops of potatoes was extra product. I explained that I wasn't getting any of the meat or eggs or refried beans. She said it didn't matter. I've done this many times in the past and was confused. I just ended up leaving. Crazy that a $10 bowl with potatoes, veggies and salsa is somehow more expensive than one with potatoes, meat, eggs, cheese and veggies. The lack of logic and rude demeanor just baffled me. We love Mexican food especially tacos but unfortunately we were disappointed by this place. My daughter's hard beef tacos were rubbery with oily, cold beef. She chose to just eat the chips. I ordered a shrimp and tilapia taco, both of which were too salty. The blackened seasoning was good but someone over did it with the salt. My husband got an ancho bowl and he couldn't eat it. He said the rice was overcooked and crunchy and the chicken was also salty. That paired with the flies, it was an overall fail. read more

This was my first time to try this restaurant and I will not be back. It took over 30 minutes to get my order which was one shrimp taco. Yes, one shrimp taco. Now in their defense, there was around 20 of us and they were not prepared for the volume, which is evident in my case. But not only did my order take too long, there were three other colleagues who also did not receive their order in a timely manner. When my order finally came out, the shrimp was undercooked as it was still translucent in color. I asked the female employee to cook it some more and she took the plate and began to scrutinizing the shrimp - like she did not believe me that they were undercooked. Unfortunately, I did make the flippant remark, "You can look at all you want but that shrimp is still undercooked". To be honest, I was shocked by her reaction - I mean, what happen to customer service?. The manager was very apologetic for having to wait so long for our meal. He did refund me for half the cost of the meal. As we were close to leaving, he did stop by the group and said, next time he "would take care if us". Not sure what that means but whatever. read more
