You can tell food was pre-prepared and not fresh and then put together because everything was cold from the hard cold mini pancakes with cold butter that just sits and tears the pancake when trying to spread it n them to the veggie skillet that uses processed cheese and not real cheese, this was not a good experience . read more

Ohhh this is such a wonderful place. My daughter hosted her 12yr old birthday brunch here. The staff was so extremely helpful from the time I place the reservation to the end of the event. It was none stop great hospitality. You must make a reservation. This place is packed to the brim, even on a stormy Sunday morning. But the staff is very accommodating. Friends and I had breakfast last weekend at the Highland Village location last Saturday. While reviewing the menu selections, one of my friends mentioned to our very friendly server that it was my birthday. I told the server it was no big deal and proceeded to give my order which she said she would recommend another option...I agreed. Then a few minutes later I was served along with our drinks, a small plate of 3 silver dollar pancakes with chocolate chips/whipped cream on top as a birthday treat which I was not expecting but a sweet surprise to share with the table. We were served our meals and when the meal was finished paid the bill. Upon checking the bill I discovered later that I was charge a $7.50 fee for the birthday treat that I had not ordered or agreed to. Needless to say, I was greatly disappointed that this was an add on that clearly was done by our server without my permission. I would not recommend this restaurant for its lack of disclosure and unprofessional service fee. I have shared this story for my friends who live in the area and frequent this venue. This was my first time here but it won't be my last. Loved the decor when I walked in. It wasn't too loud and it was a nice noise level that conversations could be had. Our server was really nice and attentive. The food came pretty quickly which was nice. Spicy chicken skillet: 8.5/10 I really enjoyed this dish. The flavors were really nice and complimented everything. I wish it came in a skillet and not a bowl...they should be called bowls and not skillets. I also wish the food were a little hotter, heat wise not flavor. Watermelon mimosa: 8/10 this was good as well. I appreciated not tasting all juice and the glass it came in was pretty. We ordered Chicken Fried Steak , Chicken fried Chicken, Omelet, Corned beef hash and crepes. We liked the gravy on the fried chicken and steak. Omelet and beef hash was good. I love crepes, so i was excited to see it in their menu. But I was super disappointed with their crepe. The crepe tasted like eggy. The consistency and texture of the crepe is like a light omelet. Love the aesthetics of this little cafe! It's spacious and very clean. We came in around 12:30 so it was very busy but we got seated pretty quickly luckily. The hostess suggested that next time, we come in around 10:30 or at 2 since those times are less busy on the weekends. Our server seemed like he was slammed but he still made time to check in on us. The California eggs Benedict was delicious - eggs were cooked perfectly. I asked for my hash browns to be crispy. Amazing food, service, interior, and vast menu! I always look forward to trying new things here, as everything has been such a delight!

Considering it was mother's day we expected the service to be slow, so we didn't take issue with that. The issue was I ordered the loaded grits, took one bite and it tasted like water. When I told the server they tasted plain and unseasoned, I was asked if I had ever had grits before... yes, I have thank you. I was then told that I was expected to put salt and pepper on them myself. Why would you serve food that the customer has to season themselves? All the food we ordered was pretty mediocre and tasted pretty plain and unseasoned as well. The replacement plate I ordered took over half an hour to come out and the server seemed unconcerned with how long it was taking. The coffee we ordered was cute with the bear shaped ice but it made it really hard to drink and it was so full of ice that the amount of coffee was actually not a lot especially for $8. The food was not at all worth the expensive price. Overall for our first experience it was pretty poor and I don't think we will come back. read more

This was our second time giving Berries and Batter another try after a previous poor experience, and unfortunately, it'll be our last. From the start, it took forever for one of my friends to even get greeted, and about 15 minutes just to get our food order taken. We were then asked to move tables to make room for a larger party -- we said yes to be polite, assuming they'd be seated right away, but it took nearly 30 minutes before the new table was even ready. When our food finally came out -- around 30 minutes after ordering -- my order was wrong. We asked to speak to a manager, and that's where things really went downhill. The manager's attitude came across as dismissive and defensive. Instead of listening and offering a genuine apology, she responded with, "Well, you said yes to moving tables," and when she finally did apologize, it felt more like, "I don't know what else you want from me," than any real attempt to make things right. Being in food retail myself, I completely understand what it's like to have a busy day and try to keep up with everything. I get that things happen, and everyone can have an off day. But if I handled a situation the way this manager did, I'd have been pulled aside for a conversation or written up. When a customer expresses valid frustration, it's not their job to tell you how to fix it -- just fix it. The "so what would you like me to do" response was honestly shocking. I genuinely empathize with how stressful the job can be, but this was beyond that. She mentioned it was busy since it was Sunday, but that doesn't excuse the poor service or lack of professionalism. When we asked her to make things right, she only comped a couple of drinks -- which didn't even belong to everyone in our group -- and overall, it just felt like she didn't care. Even some of the nearby servers seemed uncomfortable with how she handled the situation. I rarely leave reviews like this, but this experience was genuinely disappointing. If this is how management treats paying customers (and possibly their own staff), it says a lot about how the place is run. After giving this restaurant a second chance, it's clear the issues run deeper than just an off day. Definitely won't be returning. read more

Place is decent. Usually go whenever we get tired of our other breakfast place. Food is okay, it can be bland at some times but I have only tried the normal breakfast two eggs, bacon and hashbrowns. The service has always been great. Weekends can get really busy and food wait times can be a little long. Plan ahead for sure. read more

It also comes with two sides. I picked the hash browns and the gluten-free pancakes. The gluten-free pancakes passed my taste test. Even without syrup they were delicious! With the syrup they were outstanding! They serve a good cup of decaf, too. I was seated at a table, and when I said I preferred a booth they were happy to comply, even though it was busy. I had some time to kill this afternoon and decided to try Berries & Batter Cafe located in Frisco for brunch. I came on a Saturday afternoon around 12, I called ahead to check the wait time, it was 25 minutes. I put myself on the waitlist, I was sitting in the parking lot. They wanted me to come in and check in. (Even though I told them I'm here, in the parking lot) parking was packed. The restaurant was very busy and extremely loud. The acoustics of the place are terrible. I would suggest some bunting for the ceiling or soft wall covering to absorb the sound. It was overwhelming. The restaurant was a fun decor but seems hodge podge and that they tried to do so many things and threw it together. Didn't feel very cohesive. The walls are white with a brick wall accent, with pops of turquoise in the bench seating. There is a cool mural moment with butterflies that I appreciated. In the middle of the restaurant is hanging wood ceiling drop down with bulbous light fixtures. Those were fun. Over the bar is different hanging art sculptures of people. There are different light fixtures on one side of a restaurant that are steel orbs, twine nautical on the other and contemporary LED in the front. The brick wall had a photo collage moment. There is just a LOT going on. Since there was a wait, I sat at the bar and ordered a spicy bloody Mary.I think the bartender probably forgot my order and started doing other things. Another bartender came by to help. The bloody Mary was served with a skewer of cubed cheese, lunch meat, olives and garnished with bacon. It was tasty. Bar was dirty, lots of stacked glasses that needed to be washed. My glass with served with bubbles on the outside which made me pause. When I was finally sat, my server was quick and efficient. I ordered the cowboy omelette and subbed fruit for sides. The omelette was tasty, the eggs were fluffy, the fruit of blackberries, strawberries and blueberries fresh. You have to check out at the front desk which I found to be inconvenient, since you have to wait in line by the front door. Floor was dirty. Overall, the experience was ok. I've been a regular here for almost two years and I've had wonderful service that kept me coming back, but this morning made me not want to return. I understand Mother's day is a very busy day for brunch places, so I was not upset with the wait times or crowds and prepared for the long waits. Unfortunately, after we were seated, we got our orders taken 10 minutes later and watched as for the next 30 minutes 3 separate tables sat down, ate their food, and left or were finishing up. We had let the owner know that we had been skipped and had to leave soon, but we were told to be patient and that they were busy. We waited as long as we could for about 40 minutes, but I had to leave for work with no food. We told our server we had to leave and as soon as we did, it was if our food was magically ready. I believe our food was waiting in the window and no one delivered it to us or made sure we got our food. We got it boxed and told the owner what happened, but she said it was busy and we still had to pay full price for our semi old food in to-go containers. Our server seemed nice and newer, so I don't hold this against her, but after the interaction with the owner, I don't want to return. I had to send my mother home with a to-go box of food that we couldn't share together. I will be telling my friends not to return and we'll find another place to become our regular brunch spot. read more
