    A drilled hole in the gas tank

    * April 14: Approval submitted to repair vandalized car * April 17: Insurance claim approved to commence repairs * April 22: Alerted to car "half-way" done; on track for completion date 4/25 * April 23: Told gas tank "just arrived"; informed will be ready "some time next week" * April 23: Rec'd text stating car on track for pick up 4/25 * April 24: Rec'd text stating completion date pushed out to 4/29 (used gas tank was "damaged") * April 24: Rec'd another text stating "tank came in damaged AGAIN" (it turns out the shop had to return not one but two defective gas tanks, yet I only learned of the first one via the aforementioned slip-up in one employee's email); told another gas tank would have to be ordered and that "they would be in touch." Sent copy of this review to body shop and Liberty Mutual (my "insurance" company) * April 25-27: No word from Chilton * April 28: Rec'd text indicating they are "nearing completion," and that they will "call me if they encounter any delays." I requested something more specific re: the update. No response. * April 29: After more than 2 weeks at Chilton Auto Body (3 weeks total without a vehicle, which includes LM's initial delay), I was notified the car was ready to be picked up. Also learned thru LM (not Chilton) that they had to use new auto parts to replace gas tank since Chilton twice received defective parts * April 30: Contacted James Burbank at Chilton Auto Body (per posted satisfaction assurance poster in main office); no returned call or email * May 2: Still no contact from James Burbank, despite a size XXL poster in auto shop lobby that states the shop seeks a perfect 10 score with every business transaction (and includes James' contact info). __________________________ Twenty-one days(!): My car had been with Chilton Auto Body in Oakland, despite my repeated efforts to have them move quicker as I am a caregiver to an 88-year-old parent; we can't afford to rent a car (or Lyft or Uber); and we had medical appointments and prescriptions to pick up. Despite initially keeping me abreast of the progress (or lack thereof), the messaging became inconsistent or inaccurate at best. Then complete radio silence. Neither compensation (e.g., discount on service, a provided vehicle, compensation for Lyft transportation) nor an apology has transpired since my insurance company (Liberty Mutual) coerced me to use Chilton Auto Body, claiming the process would be "seamless" and "faster" if I used one of their in-network auto body shops. I am *thoroughly disappointed*. P.S. My car was vandalized on 4/8, and it was held up for a week because Liberty Mutual suspected *I caused the damage* to my vehicle (see pic attached), adding true insult to injury. To date, LM has offered zero compensation for putting me in this position, and then I had to pay a $500 deductible to Chilton Auto Body for what I consider a truly negligent management of the repair process. Lesson: A little compassion goes a long way.

    I came here through the other parties insurance, it is an approved location. when I brought my car in, they estimated 2 weeks cause of parts. John told me they were going to order the part so when I get back from vacation it would be quicker. Sal and Sommer and Cynthia were so helpful in keeping me informed about my vehicle. I had the rental for about a day and half and dropped off here to pick up my car. I also had another company come by to Chilton to work on a dent on my top bumper through my fault. That was completed this afternoon also. So I paid that because the work was very nicely done. Perhaps this should be another review. I'm sitting here waiting for the cleaning of my vehicle so I can get on my merry way. This company is run effectively and efficiently. The workers here are a great team. Don't worry about the outter neighborhood.

Practically unheard of for an autobody shop! California Collision is one of those unicorns. My only regret is not hearing of them sooner. Reflecting back on my involuntary experience of being the receiving end of a rear-end collision on the freeway, California Collision was the clear stand out. Not only did they get my BMW back on the road like it never happened, they handled it like a concierge would. Take that from a regular business traveler that works in the private equity world. George and Team handled everything in my best interests. They are an honest to goodness family business; the real deal- they all share the same last name. The first thing George did during the drop-off process was insist on giving me a walk-thru tour of the *entire* shop and work area. Other shops hesitate and deflect with these requests but George volunteers it first thing without even being asked. After using the restroom on the way out, there was not a corner I didn't see. Communication and customer service is first class- my calls, messages, and emails were always returned in a timely manner. They dealt with insurance and the car rental. I didn't have to do anything besides provide approvals. The job was done exactly how I wanted and even exceeded expectations. My BMW is older now and I expected aftermarket parts but I ended up coming out with all OEM parts at 0 expense to me. Even my optional factory/ OEM+ M-division performance parts were handled. Color match and fit were factory perfect. George is a perfectionist and personally inspects your vehicle after work is done and only releases back to you after it passes his high expectations. I have never ever ever been spoiled by a body shop like this.

    It sucks to get into a fender bender and see the damage on your car. I contacted AAA insurance,…read morefiled a claim and wanted the car repaired close to home and given the names of two repair shops. I opted for Crash Champions as I was familiar with their location having driven by many times. AAA helped me make an appointment on a Monday morning for them to evaluate the damage. On the Monday morning, I met with Miguel, estimator, who took pics of the damage and wrote his estimate. He said he can order the parts today and I can leave my car. Didn't expect that. He said the damage was cosmetic and the car should be repaired in 3-4 days. I said I'll come back early afternoon with a friend so I can have a ride home. So I dropped off the car in the afternoon. I received a call from Miguel Friday afternoon that the car was ready for pickup. Since I was in the City and I couldn't get back before they closed at 5pm, he said I could pick it up on Saturday before 2pm. When I picked up the car, Miguel said Dinah, the office receptionist, would send me a link to pay my deductible. She called two days later and said there was a problem sending the payment link and I made the payment over the phone. It was a smooth process to getting my car repaired here. Miguel was knowledgeable and got my car repaired efficiently. The car looks as good as new. Both he and Dinah were friendly and made the process stress free. I hope I won't have to come back again, but if I should need auto body repair, I'll come back to Crash Champions.

From the moment they received my vehicle to my pickup day, they kept me in the loop about how the work was progressing. Ross, Tony, and the rest of the team were professional, friendly, and focused on making sure the client is happy!
