I recently "dined" (quotations because dined is an exaggeration) at this establishment a few nights ago. Not only am I writing this review so the owners can hopefully read this and learn the restaurant game is not for them but also as a duty to the public in a sense of safety. First off the restaurants name "Chimichanga Llama" is a tounge twister in itself. I should of known but the stupid and purely idiotic name that the food would be subpar but little did I expect the food to be a hazard to public health. Shortly after I ordered I had to wait at the sticky and grimy tables with faded paint I could hardly speak to my friends over the loud music. The staff with no apparent uniform brought out the food which tried to overcompensate with flashy but sloppy presentation for its lack of taste. Only a few hours after I consumed this "food" I realised I should of stayed home and cooked. I was faced with the absolute worst episode of food poisoning. DO NOT GO TO THIS RESTAURANT UNLESS YOU WANT TO PURGE YOURSELF or if your LOOKING TO LOOSE WEIGHT RAPIDLY. A cheaper ozempic for sure with an even worse name 0/100 stars avoid for your health and well being. read more

I ordered a chimichanga with 2 sides online. I was under the impression that queso came smothered on top of the chimichanga as that is how pretty much all of them come, but that is not the case. The menu online says "topped with queso", but there wasn't a drop on mine. The refried beans were pretty good, and the street corn hominy was okay. Was hoping for more from this place. What a cute little place right across from the pier and the beach. We stayed close by so this place was our go to. When you eat somewhere new and you like it, you go back again and try something else that caught your eye. Well we went to the llama four times. Solid run restaurant with ties to their neighbors, Hyena Pizza and Gracious Pig. All of our meals were good. The quality and the cook on all meals were spot on. Guac- Fresh and great taste. A little kick from the Jalps. Fluffy Tacos- Had the fried fish. Perfect. Nice spice and fry. My wife had it 2x. Quesadilla- Had the mushroom and the chicken. Both were awesome. Nachos looked HUGE. Chimichanga looked delicious too. Ice cold beers and decent tequila selection. Although they could use a tequila menu. Even bought a shirt for support. A little steep at $30 but a nice souvenir. I read a lot about bad service, but we always eat at the bar. Coastas was always prompt if we needed anything. read more

Got peckish while relaxing in the beach and decided some Mexican food would feed the beast. Got a pile of nanos which was enough of a meal on its own. Also got a chicken quesadilla which was delicious! I was a bit nervous of a margarita but my husband got one I tried and the promptly stole from him. Mango margarita on the rocks with salt rim. After finishing his I got a frozen mango margarita no rim. Definitely worth a stop for a mid day meal. Plus super fun name. read more

Too pricey. Margaritas are $14 but prices are not posted on the table rounder menu so it can be a shocker. Food too average for the price as well. A lot of other locals like El Cerro Grande are well above in quality. You're paying resort convenience fees. Don't make this mistake. Chimichangallama Review I want to like this place. Hell, I really want to LOVE this place. But, I just can't. A little background: My wife and I *almost* live in Surfside. We're west of 17, and our ZIP used to be Surfside, but we're now in a Myrtle Beach zip. Four miles from the beach; we feel like SSB is our town. We've been looking for a favorite beach bar, and hoped that CCL would be it. first of all, your staff is incredible. Everyone we met was friendly, courteous, and inviting. I like the building, the layout and the seating options. And, of course, I'd love the location. My wife and I have visited a few times, but our last visit was on Monday, March 13. We went for dinner, and a drink or two. We were seated at a two person table near the bar. Again, no issues at all with the staff or the seating. We had margaritas. While I enjoyed the taste of my fiery margarita, it certainly tasted like too much mix and nowhere near enough tequila. My wife said the same thing about hers. App: I ordered the "chickarrones" with Peruvian dry rub, and blue cheese. Normally, I'm not one to complain about portion sizes, but I got a big basket of chicken, which was, unfortunately NOT dry rubbed. The chunks of chicken were perfectly cooked, nice and crispy, but without the rub, they were quite bland. At least the blue cheese added a little bit of flavor. And no, I did not address that with the staff. I figured it was kind of inconsequential at that point. I ordered the "el smasho torta" which was a burger on a brioche bun. I mean, can a brother get a tortilla? It was OK, but pretty bland. I'm glad I ordered the street corn hominy, though. It was quite tasty, despite needing a little more street-corn seasonings, in my opinion. My wife had the fluffy tacos, and she said they were "good enough." That's it, that's her review. "Good enough" And finally, while I think the prices are too high, I'm sure they are right in line with every other establishment in the heavily traveled tourist areas. Put all this together, combined with our previous experiences, and I doubt will ever be back. And I'll keep looking for a new, favorite neighborhood bar near the beach. read more

My husband and I came during the week and were so happy we did. We had the nachos loaded, chicharrones and the shrimp ceviche (they did not have the octopus) everything was so good we could not stop eating.
