The shrimp was lukewarm and most of the meal was warm/room temperature but the the flavors were all there! The churrasco was cooked to my liking and came with a cilantro vinaigrette for extra flavor. Everything was seasoned perfectly that despite the temperature of the food it kept me going back for more! For dessert I had a coconut flan that is a must try. Would definitely return. I have been craving good Dominican food since my mother-in-law went back to DR. I have seen Chimiking's Advertising in IG and the pictures of the food look amazing. I live in Sanford but last weekend I was in the area and stopped by. We were greeted by friendly staff. Our server was very attentive, he made sure we had all we needed to have a good experience. My mother order the sancocho and was immediately disappointed as it was served lukewarm; we asked to be heated and 5-10 min later it was brought back to the table warm not hot. Soup is served steaming hot. Doesn't it? The rice was sticky and lack some salt. I ordered the mar y Tierra and was not impressed! The shrimp mofongo looked yummy but the garlic sauce overpower the shrimp and plantains and lack flavor. In fact to spice it up I put some of the chimichurri in the garlic sauce. In the picture you see a nice, thick, juice piece of skirt steak; not the one I was serve. In the picture there is a salad not on the one I was served. The mini steak was juice and well seasoned. The only thing it was well done and delicious was the carne frita with tostones. I was craving a cappuccino after the meal but did not order it because if it was served lukewarm like the sancocho my patience would had vanished!! I mentioned my dissatisfaction to my server. You would think the manager would come over to ask what was wrong but nope! My packet was hurting for such lousy meal! I will definitely will never come back! read more

Don't be fooled by the cafeteria-like setting, grab a seat and get ready to be wow'd. We ordered the Mar and Tierra: Mofongo lobster bisque with shrimp and skirt steak. The flavor was authentic and perfectly seasoned! The lobster bisque was not as thick as you would expect for a bisque, its more of a soup consistency but it is so very good. The skirt steak was tender and the flavor was one of the best I've had. Well seasoned and juicy. As part of your check-in offer on Yelp, you can get a small dessert. I chose the tres leches and it was very sweet. A little too sweet for my liking but a good size for one and sharing for two if you'd just like a small taste of something sweet after your meal. The specialties are chimichurri burgers, Dominican sandwiches and mashed plantain mofongos. I tried the garlic shrimp, which was served literally swimming in butter in a bowl lined with mashed plantains. Pretty rich, but tasty. My companion has the triple meat sandwich, which he liked. In addition to an assortment of regional soft drinks, they also offer beer, wine and sangria. The space is newly painted and clean and bright, and the highlight of the meal was our very friendly server. So, to close off my birth-week celebration with a treat and bite to eat my girlfriend took me to one of my favorite restaurant which i haven't been to in a while but a new location they opened up and Im glad we visited. When it comes to food for me consistency is key, especially if its a small franchise like this one, the food tasted as great as it did at the original spot down at OBT Orlando. As always I had to have some of that delicious dominican originated yaroa, mmm that meat covered in french fries and mayoketchup, cheeze and more ketchup is so simple yet so delicious and satisfying but Ill say no more and just show you the proof in pictures after the review. They take me back to my childhood where my mother used to make "empanadillas de queso". My kids typically order the bistec encebollado with white rice and beans and a side of tostones. One serving is enough for both of them to share. My husband had tried several things but his favorite is the empanizado de pollo. It is super crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. I must admit there's a sense of confusion once you walk in the door: do we sit down at an open table or do we go to the counter. After a moments pause I headed to the counter and ordered an array of mofongo. The chicken Mofongo was delicious. However both the shrimp and the conch was a bit more chewy than I'm used to. It could be that I made a stop to publix before making it home to devour my take out portion. Lastly, I had their Flan. Growing up in miami, this was a staple to end a meal. This place definitely has the roots for amazing potential. The main issue I had with this restaurant is the fact that two menu items were not on the menu that I had requested. The restaurant is new to the location, so it was a little disappointing to know that what was being advertised was not available. On the other hand the food was filled with lots of flavor, and super tasty. I ordered the Shrimp Mofongo, which is smashed plantains with a combination of garlic butter sauce, topped with shrimp. This particular dish was out of this world. In fact I solely came for this particular dish based on my fellow Yelper's reviews. Please note make sure you check in because you might see a bonus coupon for free dessert. For dessert I ordered the Coconut Flan. Flan and Coconut you simply can't go wrong.
