Extremely Disappointing It's pretty hard to confuse chicharrón de pollo with bistec encebollado, yet somehow this restaurant managed to do exactly that. I called ahead to confirm they had chicharrón de pollo, drove 15 minutes, placed a simple order of chicharrón de pollo with white rice and red beans, and waited another 15 minutes for it. After I got home, they called to tell me they had given me the wrong order and asked me to drive back to fix their mistake. Absolutely not. Sure enough, I opened the bag and got bistec encebollado with white rice and no beans. I put it in the fridge and cooked something else. This isn't the first time they've messed up my order. I've given them the benefit of the doubt more than once, but enough is enough. The quality and service keep getting worse. Maybe it's time to go back to the food truck where it all started -- because whatever they're doing now clearly isn't working. read more

I came to Chimiking to celebrate a relatives birthday, they sat us in a big table in the back which was really comfortable for our large party. The dining room is spacious and well decorated. The server was nice, helpful, and joked around with us during ordering. We ordered a mojito and a passion fruit margarita. My husband said his mojito was good and refreshing. My margarita was ok, a little bland to me but drinkable. For food I ordered a steak sandwich, my husband ordered roast pork with yellow rice and beans. We also ordered a bifongo to share. Once we received our food it was hot and the presentation was nice. The roast pork and rice was well seasoned and tasted great. The steak sandwich was packaged well and was tasty, one of the best steak sandwiches I've had in a long time. The bifongo was soft and you could taste both the sweet plantains and regular plantains perfectly. The bifongo was so tasty on its own it didn't need the sauce it came with. The restaurant is well decorated, the servers helpful and friendly and the food was seasoned to perfection. I would like to come back and try more menu items. read more

A busy day running errands and wanted a quick bite to eat in the area, not fast food and not timely either. This is a lovely lil establishment and our waitress was very pleasant. I have several food allergies so maybe not the best place for me to pick but overall I would return for a quick meal. So on my last visit I got totally addicted to the tostones. I went back tonight just for an order of them. My experience was totally different. Before they were light, thick, and perfectly fried. We had the fried mix plate for appetizer and it was great. I had the Chimi Burger and it was reminiscent of DR. I also had the Yaroa with sweet plantains and chicken breast. Getting our Latin cuisine fix while in Florida. Looking for a place to eat in Alafaya and found this place. Glad we went as we all found something we wanted to eat. Shared the oxtail stew, cerdo frito with mofongo, and tostones with garlic sauce with my son. All three dishes didn't disappoint. The oxtail stew was flavorful and delicious. This place is good, not amazing, not hip, not trendy, but good. When walking in and looking at the menu, it almost feels like something great is going to come out of the kitchen, but unfortunately, it doesn't. But you do get to enjoy some of the dishes. We got pork chops, chichen soup, and a steak sandwich. Everything was very traditional, tasted traditional, but was missing that kick that a restaurant should have. We closed we a pumpkin flan, and it was below par. It had a mild pumpkin flavor but more burnt sugar flavor than anything. The place looks cool, there is plenty parking, service is good. First time here & the decor, food, and service were great! The interior design is so interesting, very different from other Latin restaurants in the area. This place is a mix of Puerto Rican and Dominican fusion. It's a bit pricey but the food was definitely worth it! Everything was delicious! Our server Paola was very nice, she even helped bring my grandmother to the car with her umbrella when it was raining, that meant a lot to us. I ordered the Kids skirt steak which had rice and beans on the side which was actually more food than I expected I liked that. The steak needed a little more flavor I think for my liking or a sauce on the side. The rice and beans were delicious perfectly made with flavor. My husband wanted the Picahna with grilled garlic shrimp, unfortunately this was my disappointment there was barely any flavor on the meat and they gave us 4 shrimps which to me is a rip off like 4 shrimps wow! Lol but either way the side which were the tostones were good. The Sweet Plantains were very oily for me and over cooked. This is a relatively new restaurant in a small strip plaza between the Pep Boys and the Walmart Neighborhood Market. They have other locations, but now they are finally on the east side of Orlando. I placed a to-go order and it was a little strange walking in the door marked "TO GO" as I felt that I was walking into the kitchen. The woman taking my order was friendly and outgoing and it was definitely service with a smile. I opted to go with their fried mix, which was chicken, sausage and pork. For my side, I went with boiled yucca. The food was prepared in the time promised and I felt the pricing on this was relatively fair. After tax and all, it was just over twenty dollars. The portion was pretty huge. I can eat a lot and I could not finish the amount of food in one sitting. I came close, but I will have some leftovers for tomorrow. As for the taste, I definitely found it to be an enjoyable meal. If you find yourself on the east side of town and craving some great Latin food, I would recommend Chimiking. read more

They had some Central American music playing with like some Mexican rancheras playing...it was such a vibe killer...it didn't help that I was hangry...could not tolerate the music at all... When ever we want some food from where my parents came from and I don't feel like cooking we come here. Usually it is packed but this time around we were the only ones seated inside. There was another family outside. We love ordering the refreshing dominican drink (nonalcoholic) made with orange or lemon juice and evaporated milk with a hint of sugar and vanilla extract. We didn't get it this time though. So good!!! I love the shrimp with rice and this time my husband tried the boneless chicken cheese bacon stuffed mofongo. He usually gets the skirt steak. Oh and to end the dinner date we ordered a passionfruit cheesecake (not pictured). To die for! I included the pictures from our last order as well. Chimiking has a great ambience and tasty appetizers (do yourself a favor and get the cheese sticks), however the food takes a long time to come out and it can be deceptively expensive. It's menu is built like Spirit airlines, cheap at first sight but with a lot of hidden costs. The side are separate from the entrees and by default they'll have you paying for water. The food itself is tasty, the Tripleta is great and I've also had the fried chicken Mofongo which was good, if only a bit of a single note dish. Try this if your looking for a unique experience but beware the added costs if your trying to stay on budget. read more

Oh wowww this place blew me away. The ambiance inside was not what I was expecting, it was gorgeously decorated and very classy (I'll come better dressed next time!). We decided to try this new spot. The ambiance is nice. Restaurant looks clean. At the beginning it took a bit before we had someone come over to ask about drinks and apps. The food was actually pretty good. For it being a place when they make most of the food from scratch they didn't take that long. For the most part everything we ordered was actually pretty good. I'm sad to update my initial post. Unfortunately, this restaurant is far from the Dominican restaurant it was the first few weeks. The food is NOT authentic Dominican food. The seasoning is horrible and beyond salty. The staff makes you feel very uncomfortable when ordering if you ask questions. They seem bothered by you if you call to them because you're interrupting the conversations they are having among themselves by the kitchen area. I'm a big supporter of my fellow Dominican people and I write this with a heavy heart, but this restaurant is not a representation of my country. Especially the taste of the popular platters. We bought take-out from here last night and we were in no way disappointed! The whole snapper was seasoned to perfection and fresh. Beans and rice were not drowned in salt like most spanish restaurants. Churassco steak, the GARLIC SAUCE wow! it added the perfect touch to the entire meal. Will definitely go back. read more

Absolutely unreal food for the price. I got a huuuge cubano for like $11. It was absolutely delicious and fresh. The same goes for the mofongo, which was incredibly flavorful. The wait staff were inattentive at times despite the low amount of people inside. I didn't get a refill on my water until I asked for the check. It was also quite warm inside, to the point where I wasn't sure they even had the AC on.
