This review is far overdue. We were in escrow, selling our house. Mike from Chimney Doctor was hired by the buyer's agent. He gave them a report with repairs totaling between $8,000 - $10,000. Our house had remodeled with permits and inspections. We knew that at least some of the repairs Mike said were needed were unnecessary. We called another company (The Chimney Guy) for a second opinion. What we found out was that the original report was 99% false. All that was needed was some old caulking to be scraped away and new caulking applied. Mike (Yes, his name was Mike too) told us that we could easily do the work ourselves! He said that if he were to do it he would charge $150. Mike felt so bad for us and all we had been through that he didn't even charge us for the inspection! P. S. Watch out! During our home selling process the conflict of interest became quite clear. The companies doing inspections also do the work. Perfect for an unethical business person. Our general contractor explained to me that there are more than a few realtors who have agreements with tradesmen to pad the bill and give kick-backs to the realtors. All three of the inspectors/contractors who came from this agent gave bogus inspections and estimates. We ended up not selling to their client. read more
