Wonderful and kind service from the beautiful lady, I didn't get her name but she's been working at this establishment since 2008 (just shy of 20 years) I thought this was awesome; I got the mee goreng, fried chicken and the dumplings and I haven't had Chinese food this good in I can't remember so! Dinner and a show at China Bell Sure you'll pay extra for extra sauce, and there's a minimum on credit card purchases, but the entertainment is included. At China Bell, you get both decent Chinese food, all the while watching the owner and the staff taking the customers to task. You know what kind of place this is because of the wall to wall signs. There's even a sign if you get the wrong order. Basically, don't even think about bringing it up. Special order? Nope. It comes as it comes. They don't save the sass just for customers. That's a carry over from the work environment. The food is okay. What you expect from a strip mall Chinese place. If you're not expecting much, and have a good sense humor, this is the place for you. For a long time I always said China Bell had the best Chinese food in the area. Many people agreed with me. I dont know if owner ship changed or what but it seems that the price went up and the quality of the food went down. Way down. We use to spend around $45 for my family of 3 to have a meal each of us get our own bag of teriyaki chicken which was my family's favorite. Now it's about $65 for the same order we always got and the quality of the food is wayyy less. Not to mention this is the second time in a row our 3 orders of teriyaki chicken have been burnt to a crisp and almost none edible, all 3 bags. If your gonna raise ur prices don't compromise the quality of ur food. I'm not about to go stand there and wait for them to get the food right. Do it right the first time! This is the 2nd time this has happened now. Why would you bag the food up that is burnt to a crisp and feel right charging ur customer for it especiallyat the price u charge now. Makes no sense! I am usually a customer of number one Chinese on old Hickory Boulevard next to Piggly Wiggly but they are closed for renovations, so I try China Bell. What a mistake! I order a large beef and broccoli. The container is only 3/4 full they don't even give you a pint of rice. I ordered a large wonton soup and it only had five wontons in the big container. OK SOOOOO...I wanted some chinese food and ordered from the nearby China Bell Madison, TN. My order came very promptly (40 mins) and was hot and fresh. I ordered quite a bit of food so when it was delivered in two bags I wasn't surprised. When I opened the bag I noticed that they gave me way more lo mein and fried rice than I normally get but I figured maybe they were trying new containers. I immediately made a plate and commenced to dressing my food to eat without even opening the second bag. About 20 mins later there's a knock at the door and it's the owner of the restaurant stating I took too much food and they wanted it back!?!?! I was like, I've already started eating...he said he didn't care scrape it all back into the container and give it back! I was a little mortified but when I looked in the second bag, there was my original order. So I handed him "what was left" in each container of the first containers and sent him on his way... Now there are so many things I could say about this but all I'm going to say is that I HOPE and PRAY he didn't go deliver that food to it's original intended!!!! This is our go-to Chinese restaurant because it's close and convenient. It's standard Americanized Chinese fare, and it's perfectly serviceable. I've only ever gotten takeout from here, and it seems like most of China Bell's business comes from takeout and delivery orders. To the uninitiated, I wouldn't recommend eating inside the restaurant. The dining area is a little rough on the eyes and lacks any ambiance. Typically there is a stereo blasting awful dance music in the dining room. The "soup nazi" mentioned in other reviews has always been pleasant and friendly to me. The "soup nazi" aspect is actually one of the main reasons I choose China Bell. As another reviewer mentioned, the place is covered in long-winded "signs" going over the rules and regulations of the place...as well as the expectations the place has of YOU. This is probably the only restaurant in town that goes into great detail -in writing- about all the ways in which you are annoying (as a restaurant patron). I think the signs are hilarious, and I never tire of reading them. Despite all that, the cashier manning the register and the phones every single time I've been is super nice. Even though I only visit the restaurant once every couple of months or so, she always remembers me and my boyfriend. As for the food, we haven't explored the very large menu AT ALL. I usually get the General Tso's chicken or the honey chicken, and my boyfriend always gets the jalapeno chicken. An order of crab rangoon usually seals the deal. The recipes for these dishes have changed a bit over time (for the worse), but we've never been disappointed enough to not return. read more

Worst Customer Service Ever!! Last night I decided to get some dinner from China Bell. I ordered Sweet and Sour Chicken and Chicken Fried Rice. The reason I ordered extra was because I am sick with the flu. So tonight I went to eat my fried rice, and I noticed the order was wrong so I did what anyone else would do and called the restaurant. They told me that they would not redeliver the order only giving me a credit. So I decided to make another order only they would not include the price of the rice in the order so I would have to order the 20 dollar minimum. In a sketching part of town next to old time pottery, this fast food, Americanized Chinese restaurant is scary on the out AND the inside. Even though i have a boyfriend, a bit of flirty from the opposite sex is always fun, but i must say being hit on by the guy covered in feces pushing his grocery cart was not cool. He was allowed to bring that mess into the restaurant as well which seems nuts since there is a row and row of rules for this joint. So after all this I took my house fried rice and general chicken (per-ordered, didn't feel like i could back out at that point) home and after 30 mins we both started getting violently sick. Pros and cons: Pros - food is decent, tasty, cooked and served up quickly. Spring rolls are plump, tasty and filled with all the veggie goodies. Prices are decent too. I had two spring rolls and a lunch sized veggie Mai fun and bottled water for $ 11. Also, the quantity of food was enough I made two meals out of it Cons - not much of an oriental "atmosphere" here and secondly, although there is vegetable fried rice, vegetable lo mein and vegetable mai fun, there aren't any dishes that have bean curd/tofu. When asked why the response was this area of town is mostly a chicken, beef and pork area of town. So, in general, good enough to come back to when in this neck-of-the-woods. Unfortunately I will no longer be ordering food from this place. The last time I ordered the mei fun there were chunks of... what I hope was black plastic all through it. The first bit I thought, okay gross, but maybe a piece of spoon broke off or something. But when there was more and more... of course I had to throw the entire batch out. It wasn't burned food I don't think; it was very hard. The time before THAT when I ordered the mei fun there was an entire plastic zip-tie in my food. The only reason I'm leaving two stars is that I didn't give them the opportunity to 'make it better'. I didn't find the ziptie until a couple of days later when I was eating the leftovers. I was willing to let that one thing go. The second time though.... I didn't want it replaced, I didn't want anything else from them, ever! So, unfortunately, as much as I used to love the food... Second my sister was eating an orange chicken platter and a fucking hair was in this chicken. I ordered delivery last night for the first time from China Bell. I ordered General Tso's Chicken. This dish was the worse General Tso's Chicken I've ever had. It taste like it was days old..soggy...not crunchy. I was looking for something spicy and it was bland to the taste. I felt really silly when I ordered two orders because I needed to have a $15 limit to have it delivered thinking I would have for lunch today. What a waste! I threw it out!
