I love this place! As Bonni said the soup station is awesome. I was in the mood for some sushi, soup, and hibachi. For less than the cost of all three separately I got all I wants here. The service was great, they cleared my dishes and brought me refills while I was at the buffet and even though the place was full they still made frequent trips to check on me. "Ok" is the best way for me to describe my dining experience at China Buffet. It wasn't bad, but it surely wasn't great. It was just ok. They had a huge variety of food on the buffet, but very heavy on the American food selections. My son really enjoyed the hibachi, but I didn't try it. If I could give this no stars, lord knows I would. Boyfriend and I came here one night. The food was amateur. There weren't very many options, the hibachi cook was coughing all over the place, and there was no hot food. Super surprised by how good this place is. I was in the mood for mei fun and sushi so my bf and I decided to try this place out. It has the typical Chinese American dishes, a hibachi bar and a sushi bar. The tempura'd items were good but what really impressed me was the spicy tuna roll. It's by far the best I've had off a buffet. Very fresh. I like the egg drop soup as well. Not at all bland like most fast food places. Service was excellent. Will definitely visit again. read more

Food quality is awful. Chicken was over cooked and the crab rangoons were spoiled and sour. Our kids were brought milk that was spoiled. Best thing was the fortune cookies. Will not be going back. I have eaten here many times. The food has always been good and fresh. Good sushi and hibachi grill. After today I may not return. I had a bill for $62, paid with $80. I did not get my change until I asked for it, then it was only $8. I spoke with the manager and she says I paid $70. But all I had were $20 bills. read more

This has been the WORST dining experience I have ever had. The service was beyond terrible, it was reprehensible. The server brought my beverage in a dirty glass, it had a fortune cookie fortune in bottom of glass. When I pointed it out to server she pretended as if she did not understand me. I then asked for Manager, her English became clearer as she asked if I was calling Manager on her. I said yes, she then told me I could get the Manager myself. China buffet is the best buffet I've been to in Greensboro, NC. As soon as you walk in you can smell the variety of dishes being cooked and you see a large variety of food you can choose from. This place gives you a nice welcome and everyone there is amazing! You have the best sushi man there that will make you whatever roll you want in a nice fancy plate as well as a hibachi area where you can choose form whatever you like and choose between teriyaki, hibachi or garlic sauce to go with your dish and everything is made to perfection according toy our taste. They also have a variety of soups you can choose from and even the chef's special which is the duck soup. My favorite dish there is their shrimp and lo mein. They both have the right amount of salt and the food there is always really fresh. The seafood is always being served and it's for a great price! I certainly recommend this place because of the great price and it's all you can eat including seafood, hibachi, soups and sushi! Another big thing i like about this place is how clean it is compared to other buffets in Greensboro where you will see food all over the floor and trash stacked up around the bathroom. China buffet is well cleaned and you often see the hosts and kitchen staff looking after their buffet bars and bathrooms. Everything about this place makes me want to go back every weekend and the friendly service and great food is an outstanding contribution to my review! read more

I have been to Charlotte location (many many times) and Salisbury one, by far Greensboro location is not up to the restaurant. The buffet is very poor maintained many empty pan (on Saturday night), food taste is not good either is to salty or no flavor at all. Sushi bar is empty, noodle soup bowl not good. Overall very disappointed at this location, Ichiban is better no wonder they busier. Please be like the Charlotte location. read more

FOOD: I see reviews with photos of very nice sushi, but every time we've gone most of the sushi has been drowned in spicy sauces. It wasn't like that at first, but gradually became more so as time went on. Since I can't eat the spicy sauces, that all but eliminates my favorite part of the buffet. The soup is definitely good, and next time it's really cold or I just feel like something that will warm me all through, this will definitely be on the list of possibilities. Overall, though, even though this is the most convenient one for us, we almost inevitably end up going out of our way to a different chinese buffet that doesn't drown their sushi. AMBIANCE: The wooden carvings as you come in are simply gorgeous - I could sit and look at the large one behind the host's stand for hours. But the tables always makes me feel very short, as if they were sized either for tall men or else (somewhat more likely) for people who habitually kneel on the seats rather than sitting western-style. That may seem picky, but having the table at chest level does significantly affect the experience. read more

I am a concerned citizen and I Just wanted to inform you about a recent experience at a restaurant in Greensboro. I went to China Buffet at the address of 4310 Big Tree Way, Greensboro, NC 27409 and there was a number of problems with the restaurant I noted below. The first important problem I noted was the ice cream appeared to not be cooled to the appropriate temperature from the consistency, and the depth of the dessert station that housed it was not appropriate because it forced the consumers to touch the products with their bare hands. Then I noted that they have a raw bar where the customer can choose food that is to be cooked into front of them but, the customer can mix raw meats ,veggies, and partial cooked noodles together on that plate with all of the foods touching and there are no rules on how to safety place the food causing cross contamination. Then employee who was working at the cooking station with the raw items never washed his hands during the many different times that I waited in line for the food to be cooked. The biggest complain that I have is that the server was serving water for a sink used to wash hands for drinking water to the customers which, is unfiltered water and passing it off as the machine water. Also another problem with the drinks was the containers or cups used to serve the water where not cleaned correctly because you could taste the previous drink product in the water. After these issues the manager was address with the issues. He was asked about where they are suppose to get water and he said "the drink fountain". Then he refused to service us and kept us standing there while he talked in a threatening voice as he kept pushing a business card at us and saying that "water is free" so that it should not have been a problem was his explanation. Then he was behaving in a hostile manner when he snatched the phone from my father's hands as he spoke with the owner and kept talking aggressively as he spoke to employees in a Foreign language and kept telling me to "mind your (mine) business" I also believed that he took a picture of us while we where standing there without our consent. read more

This buffet was really terrible!!! Me and my friends thought it would be a good buffet because as you walk in, it's fancy with big horses, classic music and nice decor. As we sat down at our table, our waiter didn't say a word to us really. She just said, "Do you want anything to drink?" Then we told her what we wanted. Then she came back and just filled our cups without saying anything. So, then me and my friends got up and got some food at the buffet. It looked all old, like it had been out for hours or days and it all looked kind of scary looking. I got a scallop and it didn't taste right and my friends got a lot more than me. They got sushi, scallops, shrimp, chicken and ice cream. My friend said, the ice cream didn't taste quite right and they didn't have any vanilla ice cream. The sushi had fish eggs on it and the shrimp looked all hard and old. The octopus and okra looked all old in the buffet area and the egg drop soup looked like vomit. We were disappointed in the service and when our waiter came back with our receipts she just gave it to us and didn't say a word. She just walked away. As we left, we all got food poisoning and we were really sick from it. All of us were vomiting and having digestive issues. I can't believe it's almost $10 for this crap and if you eat here, you will be disappointed and stuck in the bathroom for a week worshiping the porcelain gods. It was so HORRIBLE!!! read more

I am a frequent customer of this place, but more and more I'm realizing how unsanitary this place is. The final straw was Sunday when my family and I witnessed a little boy walking around licking ice cream off of the scooper that EVERYONE uses. His parents laughed & told him to put it down. I had to stop a waiter and told him that it needed to be removed & cleaned. He simply ran it under water for a split second & put it back. We had to ask three different waiters if they could simply change the scooper so germs wouldn't be spread. I finally just got up & removed it myself. I don't know about anyone else, but the last thing that I want is to be giving my children ice cream after a sick little child has slobber all over it. Gross! read more

Great Mongolian Grill, Outstanding Sushi and made to order soups. But that's it, their prepared foods on the buffet are absolutely lousy! Over cooked on the baked items. Very greasy on the fried. Food temperatures are not maintained on the hot bar. Free style ice cream dipping, which means that a lot of dirty hands are in the tubs of ice cream. I'm surprised that the Board of Health hasn't stopped that. The clientele acts like this is their last meal. Pushing, shoving and butting in line, don't expect any apologies. Many children are unattended and handling food at the buffet.Service is poor at best. They do remove your plates but are very slow at filling your water. My family and I like going to this place because the food is good compared to other Chinese buffets. However my low rating is due to the poor service from the servers. It seemed like ever 2 minutes they were at our table offering to refill our drinks when they were not even half empty. In addition to the drinks, they were taking our plates when it was clear we were still eating from them. It's highly annoying to not be allowed to enjoy your meal peacefully. It felt as though we were being rushed the whole time. So at the time of tipping, i decided to only leave $2. I truly felt the service did not justify more. I cold have left nothing. The server picked up my check and started telling her co-worker something that I didn't understand and both of them started staring me down clearly laughing with anger. I used to dine here multiple times each month, but the last couple times I've gone in the staff has been incredibly rude. The last time My wife vowed to no longer dine here after our waitress rudely snapped "I know" at my wife after simply reminding her that she had regular Pepsi instead of diet. We've both worked in restaurants and are never rude to the people serving or cooking our food as we have both done these jobs and respect these people. Tonight was my last straw with this place. I walked up to the sushi bar for my first plate and I noticed two of the chefs snickering at me (I'm assuming because I'm overweight). I let it slide off my back, then I went to grab a plate of hibachi when I walked over to the hibachi chef to hand him my plate. He started laughing like I was the funniest thing he had ever seen, and pointed at me to the sushi chefs that had snickered at me earlier. Then once again I walked back over for more sushi and the two sushi chefs started pointing and laughing at me and then had the audacity to shake their tip jar at me. I have pretty thick skin when it comes to my weight, but if I'm handing you my hard earned money. You can save your giggles for the kitchen or out back during your smoke break. Fat people make these types of establishments money hand over fist, train your staff to at least put on the illusion that you are respectful of them. read more

I ordered take out.. hibachi chicken with fried rice vegetables , salad with ginger dressing.. delicious as always.. only thing is I requested extra white sauce at the time I ordered and when I picked up my order I asked again if extra sauce was in the bag.. unfortunately I didn't check before I left.. so when I got home only 1 small cup of sauce was included.. definitely not enough to share.. I know it's not the end of the world and the food is very good ,but when you have your taste buds drooling for something .. what a let down read more

I've read quite a few of the reviews for this restaurant and i have to say I agree with almost ALL of them. How is that possible? Well, not only is everyone different but everyone has different experiences. Duh... obviously. But let me explain: I used to enjoy going here... LOTS of different food -- a few decent choices. So-so sushi, but it's all-you-can-eat so go for it... not half bad. Hibachi... not half bad either. I've even taken out-of-town friends here. But now, I've kinda spoiled on the place. Why? Well, this seems a bit trivial, but I don't like paying $25 to be treated rudely. AGGRESSIVELY rudely. Most of the staff is very friendly -- plus I never seem to have trouble keeping a tea glass full... no problem there. The problem, however, lies in the NON-wait staff. And you'll be surprised at how often you'll have to interact with them. Case(s) in point... the first time I tried to find white rice I asked an older female employee where it was. She kinda waved in the general direction of the side wall near the kitchen, where you wouldn't expect to find a buffet item. After searching in places I didn't feel comfortable snooping through I found the huge kettle of rice... only to find the top was kinda difficult to maneuver. Not a big problem, but the reason I mention it at all is, I have a 10-year-old son who LOVES Chinese food. He's pretty independent and thick-skinned but came back to the table looking very upset. Took a minute to get it out of him, but it turned out he had the EXACT same experience I had had... even the same woman (I had him point her out to me). I didn't particularly like her demeanor but being rude to a polite young boy is unconscionable. He said "I had trouble getting the rice and asked for her help and she wouldn't help me". I got him his rice. May not seem like much, but how would YOU like it if some adult was rude to YOUR child? Think about that for a minute. But that's not what made me write this review. Last night I went in to pick up a couple of large containers of soup for take-out. I walked up to the check-out and asked for two containers. A guy I've never seen before abruptly said "What type of soup you want?" I said, "Well, I'm not sure yet, I'd like to see what I want when I get there." It seemed reasonable as sometimes their won-ton looks good, sometimes not. Sometimes I like a single won-ton in the bottom of my hot 'n' sour soup. Sometimes I like to mix a little egg-drop soup in. Sometime I like a little bit of onion sprinkled on top... sometimes more. Hey, call me crazy... wacky... zany. I like to pick out what I like to pick out. Me (smiling politely): "Uh, I'm not sure yet... is there a problem? Are they different prices?" Him: "I'LL GET IT!!!" Me (kinda shocked and taken aback at how incredibly rude he is): "Oh, that's OK, I'll get it..." Him (seriously, he just kept on repeating himself): "WHAT... KIND... OF... SOUP... YOU... WANT!!!??????" At THAT point he got a little, well... "dark". Me (meekly): "Hot 'n' sour...?" Him: "BOTH???" (darker still) Me: "Yes". He walks 25 feet away and starts to get my soup. I watch carefully to see if he spits into it. I don't think he did. But somehow that SAME WOMAN sidles up beside him, he says something to her and she looks up and stares straight at me. When he returned with the soup (with waaay too much green onion on top) I smiled and asked him if he was the manager. When he said "Yes" I flashed a big smile and said "I thought so" and turned around and left. I figured NO ONE would be THAT RUDE unless he owned the place. Was he having a bad day? Maybe. But deep dark vitriol like that usually comes with a LOT of experience. I'm 6'3", 220 lbs and I don't scare easily. But that dude was rude. Ruder than ANYONE I've ever experience under ANY circumstance. Sorry about the long review, but I just had to purge. Guys like this shouldn't be allowed to make money off of decent people.
