PLEASE READ!!! On April 25, 2026, between 7:00-7:20 PM, my family and I witnessed one of the most disgusting and unacceptable things we've ever seen at a buffet. A male Asian employee behind the sushi counter dropped an entire tray of toasted garlic bread onto the floor. It was loud enough that everyone nearby turned to look. At that point, any reasonable person would expect the food to be thrown away. Instead, he picked every piece up off the floor and put it right back on the tray. It gets worse. Another employee (a woman wearing a pink North Face shirt) then took that same tray and placed the bread out on the buffet line for customers to eat. This is completely unsanitary and a serious violation of basic food safety standards. Food that has been on the floor is contaminated with bacteria, dirt, and who knows what else. Serving it to customers is not only disgusting, it's a health risk. Management and the owner need to review the cameras during this time and address this immediately. I really wanted to like this place, as I love a good Chinese-American buffet. And they have a few great things here that I don't usually find at buffets (including scallion pancakes, walnut shrimp, and crispy fish fillets covered in brown sauce). But there are two things that really killed it for me. One: they mix the new, fresh food in with the old food, so that when you scoop the food you will get a really old chewy piece of food along with something absolutely delicious. Usually at buffets they get rid of the old stuff or they put the new stuff on the bottom of the tray and scoop the older stuff onto the top, but they mix it up here. I realized this with a few different foods I ate here on my recent trip. Two: there is a bug zapper in the back of the restaurant. It makes a really loud SNAP! POP! sound when a mosquito flies into it, and it's really distracting from a relaxing meal. It went off several times at dinner. 1st off... This is officially my 500th REVIEW! There are so many random Chinese buffets all around the world, but this particular 1 stands out to me because it brings back so many memories of when my mom was still alive while fighting breast and bone cancer. It was 1 of the very last places we ate together as a family back in the early 2000s and I can't help but think about her every time I come to this place. Aside from all that sentimental biased-ness, this China Buffet legit has a great amount of quality and choices for a business that's been around longer than some of the newer spots around here and everywhere. The parking isn't extremely bad because it's huge and it's shared with other businesses. It can get very very understandably crowded during the lunch and weekend rushes. For less than $20, I love coming here during their cheaper lunch times. Fridays, weekends and holidays is when they charge OVER $20, but with more food choices, of course. ALL their food is pretty damn good. Even though they don't have room for a hibachi guy like other places, I dig how they do the hibachi menus in the kitchen and put out the grilled chicken, thin steaks and grilled fish near their excellent choices of sushi! Now... their restroom situation is such a toss up because for the men's, there's only 1 freakin' toilet and the rest are urinals! It absolutely sucks when you eat all that food and you legit gotta go (which is a lot of their customers) and you can't promptly go because there's always that 1 guy just lolligaging on his damn cell phone instead of just taking the Browns to the Super Bowl, dropping off the kids and going on right away for others to do the same! That's like my only gripe along with the regular toss up of if you're going to a nice server who actually has somewhat of a decent personality to mix with at least decent customer service. There ARE servers who are really nice, but it's hard to tell who really stands out positively. ALL IN ALL, I love this place. It isn't perfect, but it feels like home to me. I've been coming to this Chinese Restaurant for many decades and decided to give- high remarks both in the vast variety of dining choices along with the attentiveness of their staff and a very good ambiance of the very large establishment- which includes 2 dining rooms along with a separate room for both overflow and/or special parties/occasions! Again the food quality is very good- my personal favorites are besides the chow mein, fried shrimps, etc.- are the heavenly sugar donuts. Remember for example if your a senior or not- would you rather pay like $10+ at a burger place or a bit more and really get full- If time permits- I'd go here. Listen, if you're in the South Bay and want to be aggressively full and blissfully happy, China Buffet in Torrance is where it's at. So good that we ate there twice during my 7-day trip, and even did a custard bun fly-by just to grab dessert for my son. No shame. Worth it. They advertise as "New York style" Chinese food, and the buffet delivers: Traditional Chinese dishes? Check. Sushi bar? Check. Tons of seafood? You bet. Dedicated salad and dessert bars? Oh yes. Jello, fruit, cookies, cake--you name it. Even pizza for the picky littles who just want something familiar. My son (under 12) ate well and loved that the kids' price was based on age. Grown-up pricing shifts between lunch and dinner, but either way it's very reasonable for All-You-Can-Eat. The space is surprisingly big--no cramped aisles or awkward seating piles like some buffets--and we never had to wait, despite it being clearly a popular spot. Even though it's self-serve, the staff was attentive, fast with drink refills and plate clearing, and genuinely friendly. We will absolutely be back any time we're in the area. Came here for our first time, little wait in the beginning since only one person charging you. The food was pretty good, was worth the price for the options. We did like the teriyaki chicken that's not pictured and the salmon not pictured as well. It was busy and only down fall is bathroom only two stalls with tons of people. This is one of my top favorite buffet to eat in Torrance! I came here to eat with my aunt and her boyfriend and I was already full after one plate. The waiters greeted us and their service is a top-notch on my dictionary. When we needed help, they assisted us always. The ambiance is amazing, I loved the sitting area because of how visually pleasant the decor was. My aunt would tell me that the technique in buffet is to eat food that make you less full before eating the foods that make you full..but I ended up eating a lot because the food was delicious. The wontons are my favorite, very creamy and filling. The kebab was fresh but there was little flavor into it. i love the large variety of food they have and for only a $20 all you can eat buffet restaurant, you definitely can't beat the price... i would expect the greatest of service though because they simply seat you then disappear after delivering your drink. they'll be honest quite lacking and basic all these years but that doesn't bother me much. read more

The food was mostly slightly worse than mediocre. Mabo tofu was good, little baos with yellow bean filling were good. All chicken dishes were mediocre (Kung Pao, Honey, Orange). Broccoli beef was mediocre. The shu mei were inedible. They were so dry, they were rock hard. The pork spareribs were covered in some weird red food coloring and is just about impossible to wash off of your fingers. It was still on my hands the next morning. Stopped by this place on Labor Day. They had extended their weekend special so the buffet included plenty of seafood options (Cajun shrimp, crab, salmon, and more). My girlfriend and I went on a Sunday and it was busy. They work fast with the tickets so you might get lucky. The food selections are quite good. I truly enjoyed the teriyaki chicken, general tso's chicken, beef broccoli, veggie fried rice, garlic mushrooms, and the fruit and jello. The veggie Lo Mein wasn't flavorful, but everything else mentioned definitely was. Wasn't too crazy about the orange chicken either. The good: It cost $17-18 per adult for lunch. I came right at 11AM when they opened so everything was very orderly, neat, and clean. The seats were mostly all empty outside of 3 other tables. It did get more crowded around 12-1PM. They have a private room area for larger parties. Kids under 3 are free. My toddler loved the green beans and chow mein. I enjoyed the tiramisu dessert the most out of the dessert options. They had a lot of seafood options fish, shrimp, imitation crab covered in bacon, octopus, and shellfish. I thought the price was great and I definitely ate my money's worth. I enjoyed the orange chicken and honey prawns. My husband enjoyed the almond cookies. I love going to buffets with picky toddlers because you can try all sorts of things and not commit to one dish. Then, you can come back for more! You can also order takeout here by paying $8.99/lb. The interior has a traditional Chinese-feel with wooden wall features and Chinese paintings. There are booth seats along the walls. There were many sushi options and it was nicely presented. The bad: The soft serve ice cream machine was out of order so instead they had a side fridge with cup ice creams (limit 1 per customer). I didn't see any crab legs. The carpet inside is dirty and the ceiling has stains but the restaurant overall felt fine to me. They have gloves for people to use but I noticed that a lot of people didn't use it (I, however, did!). The pudding desserts tasted very artificial and weren't very enjoyable. It's been quite a while since I've been to a seafood buffet. My elderly mom loves this place, so here we are. The variety is quite a lot, but as suspected the quality is only so so. The tuna poke was a nice surprise, but the salmon poke was a bit suspect to me. As I understand it, the service of the waitstaff can be a bit hit or miss. Underneath them is hot water to keep things to temperature. But if you are talking about fish or mussels you want them when they just set them down for the most tender. You can combine dishes for example the rice noodles with vegetables or beef or shrimp. Lots of variety. They get daily deliveries, so constantly replacing but after 3pm there's a lull and depending on the day will determine how busy it can be. Friday at 12, it was hopping, everybody must've gotten their security checks. Lot of seniors, there is a discount. But people of all ages and races. Servers aren't "nice: but efficient. Not too expensive. Weekends are more expensive than Monday through Friday afternoon. I was even thinking of going by myself one of these days. Haitai brand is also good, but haven't tried the Lays. Japanese; Korean; American. Calbee I got is made in the Philippines though. China Buffet is quality as well. The restaurant fits nearly 200 people, including a private banquet room. They are open for holidays, which is really nice. We had a family dinner for New Year's Eve just now and every body was just tucking in, or eating food heartily. The adventure is in the photos. Every dish was really good. Had seconds on sushi, the fried rice was very tasty and delicate. Crispy shrimps I ate with heads and tails on; I heard somewhere that's good for the body's constitution to do once in a while, and they tasted fabulous. Also mildly seasoned, the contrast of the crackling outsides with the moist insides was terrific. These made me not miss crabs (of which there were, halves of shell on mud crabs also deep fried) and lobsters (of which there were none). The string green beans were very good. Had short ribs, mushrooms, clams and mussels cooked in various savory sauces. I decided on peaches Mandarin oranges pear, a bowl with fruits and syrup, for finishing up with dessert. Food was horrible. The chicken had no flavor and was gummy. The fried rice had no flavor. The dumplings were soggy. The Korean ribs were so rubbery my mother couldn't even tear it. The Filipino donuts looked like they were stuffed with soggy chicken and tasted so bad my mom literally got up and went to the car and left my brother and I in the restaurant alone.
