This place is about 3.5 stars. We were looking for a hot pot place with lamb and came across this little joint. It is AYCE for a decent price. They give you three rounds. The place isn't big and there was one guy working the floor that night. The lighting was a bit too dim overall and one of the stove was broken at the table we were at so they brought in a portable one to use. Sauce area was a bit messy and service could be better. I think with some repairs and improvements to this restaurant, it could function better and be even more popular. Food was decent and good and was at a fair price point. It didn't leave a memorable impact except for the price. If we're in the area, we'll come back to try again to see if it's improved. read more

Great deal for hot pot! $30 per person for ACE (40 if you do the Kobe) with plenty of selections for lamb, beef and pork. The bone broth was smooth and paired well with the meats. We also got some seafood which was decent but could be a little fishy for some people. Service was efficient, I felt bad there was just one guy running back and forth but the food came out quickly. The inside is small and intimate, I could see it being crowded at the bar and you could end up sitting next to strangers. Overall a great deal for ACE, would come back again in the cold months! Advice would be to come in a small group however, it doesn't seem like they could efficiently accommodate for parties larger than 4 people read more

I mistakenly thought it was the chain resto Little Sheep (which has apparently rebranded itself as Happy Lamb...) so you can imagine my surprise when I walked in to find a much smaller, quieter space with one waitress at a resto that bore the name Happy Sheep that was, in fact, neither Little Sheep nor Happy Lamb -_-. The original soup base was mediocre. Food was fine. Sauce options were lacking. Decor/ambiance could use some real updates. Waitress was very kind. Bathroom could use some more regular uhh... upkeep/cleaning. Wish we'd waited for Momo, but happy if nothing else to have been able to support a mom n pop shop. read more

This was one of my first exposure to hot pot and I wish every place was like this. Their variety of sides and meat are really good. I like that they include lamb within their offerings. The broth is really tasty and they have these little sausages that I absolutely love. The interior of the restaurant is small with the bar taking up majority of the area so I would not recommend this for a large party. However, if you're going out to dinner with your friend or on a date night, this is an amazing spot. The one waiter that I typically get whenever I stop by here is not super friendly, but he is really good at getting all of our items out. read more

This is a FRAUD restaurant! I have already filed for fraud. When I first entered the restaurant, they told me nothing about the portion of food. Yet you can see clearly, that the first chicken breast was twice as large as the second and although I ordered more for the second time, I got less than I want. When I asked for an explanation, they told me "people are not so hungry as they eat so we reduce the portion". This is obviously illegal. 3.5 stars, I will round up. Had Happy Sheep bookmarked for a while as one of the few Chinese hotpot places in the area, and finally went to check it out after visiting my brother in Torrance. Parking was easy in the lot though the restaurant is not very big at all. It was not crowded when I went but it filled up as it got later, and I felt bad that there was only a single waiter manning the whole restaurant. Service was not bad, considering all of that, and our water was refilled regularly. The all-you-can-eat costs $29.99 + tax as of October 2023. The menu was actually smaller than I expected, and they were out of a few items I love at hotpot (taro, corn, intestines). The meat was well presented and overall the quality of ingredients was decent, with the fried buns and fried dough (油條) particularly crispy and delicious. I also really enjoyed the appetizer cold dishes. The sauce bar was okay, I was just missing my minced garlic. The broths were good but I have had better, and the spicy half was not that spicy. The men's restroom also was quite dark, and had no paper towels. The faucet was also broken and just had a continuous small stream of water. The restroom could have been cleaner as well. It's the only reasonable Chinese style hot pot option in the south side of the South Bay. I didn't give them a 5, even though they have all the basics, but nothing in particular stands out. $28.95 per person for all you can eat (9/2023 price). The meat quality is pretty good, so make sure you go when you are hungry. There are several varieties of vegetables but we usually like a few more things like chrysanthemum. There is a small area for different dipping sauces. The broth is already flavored so use only if needed. Not sure if it makes sense to get a la carte, but you got to do your own calculations. Tips: a couple of interesting items to try: 1. Fried buns, you got to try at least one, golden brown with condensed milk, pretty irresistible 2. Fish tofu, pretty interesting combination which is relatively unique Tip: The broth is on the salty side, so much so that you don't really need the dipping sauce. I think we should've asked for 1/2 water and 1/2 broth when our broth was low, we got more broth instead and it was too salty to have the final soup. Cozy atmosphere with decent hot pot. There's AYCE for $29/person, which is a steal for all the meat, vegetables, and other toppings you can get. Confused why the rating is as low as it is, but looks like more of a service issue. This is very much hole in the wall place with great ingredients for price, and not overwhelming amount of options. I came here not expecting much, but I am a fan! The service was not amazing, but not bad. There was two guys walking around outside servicing everyone, but they would come if you called them and nothing was particularly slow or rude. Things I noticed and didn't expect: - The smaller size of the establishment is very cozy and imo great if it's not busy. Which Friday at 6/7 is not too busy. To give an idea, the whole place could seat probably 30 people at most comfortably. Also a big plus-- it's not super loud here! No blasting music so you can hear your friend without them yelling. - The meat is good! There was maybe 6/7 meat options, but it was brought out cold but not frozen, in nicely thawed rolls, tasted fresh, well cut, didn't stick to each other. Most places give you very frozen meats, that don't taste as soft/fresh. - The sauces were good. The sauce bar isn't super extensive but it had a basic sweet garlic soy I enjoyed that I felt isn't common. - The soups are good! I really enjoyed the tomato! It was not too salty and tasted healthy. The original milky bone broth was a bit salty tho, but still good. Overall had a great experience here! For those looking to duplicate the Little Sheep experience, please don't make the same mistake I did today. For those who don't know the true little sheep experience, I'll raise it to 2 stars for the spicy soup base. I made the mistake of giving this place a try today, as I didn't feel like driving 2 hours in traffic all the way down to San Diego to the Mongolian Hot Pot on Clairemont Mesa. The spicy soup base is what put little sheep on the map. This place does a decent job of that, I will give them that. Service was a 1-star for sure. They give you water in a paper cup and soda comes in a can. Definitely not the typical restaurant experience. We ordered the all you can eat, and no matter how many servings you put down on the AYCE sheet, they randomly give you the portion that they want to give you. Such a waste of time. The feeling I got was that they were trying to save money on every little thing and you're a bother to them. Their attempt at even trying to duplicate the knock version of Little Sheep/Mongolian Hot in San Diego failed miserably, as they have maybe 1/4 of the menu that San Diego has. Here's a tip for the owners: Re-brand and stop the knock off attempt at being Little Sheep. To the unknowing unsophisticated palate, you may be amazing. You're in the service business, serve your customers happily and offer a great product. Maybe they're just trying to get by before they lose their lease or close up shop, who knows. If that's the case then that would explain so much of what we endured today. We joked about going to Shakey's Pizza Buffet right across the way before walking into the restaurant today. If you are craving some hot pot and you feel like you starving, why not try Happy Sheep in Torrance. I believe this place is a chain because I've seen the logo from other cuties. The place in Torrance was pretty busy for lunch and it is all you can eat. So you can order as much as you can eat. But overall I just ordered a few plates of beef and lamb. I think my favorite is to get vegetables in the pot more so than meat. But overall it's your choice of what you want to do. Just FYI the pot is shared with people in your group. We had three people for our table so we got to eat I believe more variety. They have a sauce bar as well, but I think the soup broth is enough and you don't need the sauce. But to each their own. Service was a little bit hard since there were only literally two staff members and they had to keep running back and forth to each table to get their orders. The server on a weekend at 5pm was mostly focused on watching anime, but was responsive when we needed something. The portions are BIG and I wished they were a bit smaller so I could try more things. This place used to be King Shabu Shabu, but it's been taken over by the new Chinese Hot Pot. My wife and I absolutely love this place. This was one of the first places where my wife and I went to eat with the COVID-19 restrictions lifted. They have plastic shields to separate all the tables and everyone is social distanced with all the workers wearing masks. We got the half & half which is the best way to eat here IMHO. Cook all the meat on the spicy side but the veggies on the original side so the veggies don't soak up all the oil. Both the meat and the vegetables are fresh and of good quality. read more

They didn't get 5 stars since the menu is confusing and challenging to read because it is a faded photocopy. Also, their condiment bar looked sloppy. I also would've liked more direction upfront on cook times. They gave us some instructions after we asked for help. They should have brought it out when we told them it was our first time there. I just came back from Taiwan and was craving good hotpot. This one, while not as good, was still pretty good. Lots of good fresh meats to choose from, veggies were also crisp and fresh. You definitely leave full and happy at an affordable price. Only wish the service was better... much better. We never got to try the food so I can't give a review on that but the service was terrible. We came in around 7:30pm and were happy to see one open table. We stood there awkwardly as none of the employees greeted us or made eye contact. Finally an unfriendly guy came over with no greeting and said there is a 30 minute wait and they stop serving at 8:20pm. Business hours say they close at 9pm. He asked unenthusiastically if we still wanted to wait. I said no. Why would I want to eat at a place that made it very clear they didn't want our business. If their hours had stated they stopped serving at 8:20pm even though they close at 9pm we would never have gone there in the first place. I was peeved that we now had to find another restaurant. The rude guy was actually a blessing because we found a nice Thai restaurant not far away. We made it there right before 8pm and I hate going in an hour before closing but we were from out of town and starving at this point so we took a chance because there were a good amount of people there and people still coming in. Service was top notch from beginning to end. We were served delicious Thai food by the friendliest staff and they were soo quick we were out of there by 8:50pm. They never rushed us even though we ordered and ate quick so as not to be rude and keep the staff later than the actual closing time. As for Happy Sheep they need a new name. Lol. And, as other reviews mention the poor service is not uncommon there. I like hot pot but I won't be going back to this place. read more
