    Crab Rangoons
    Jhordin A.

I was excited to try somewhere new, saw some decent reviews so we opted for here for dinner. We had good service while here! We ordered online, process was easy and quick. Prices not too bad, lots of options. When we picked up the worker was kind and quick, food was ready to go. Because our total was $40+, we also got a free bottle of coke so that was nice too. The inside was small and has pics of the food. I kind of like the look of it. Unfortunately, the food was not it. The chicken in the fried rice was rubbery, ended up having to eat around it. The Rangoons were good, but not typical- kind of chunky, tasted more like sour cream and chive. Comes with 8 full size Rangoons so it is a decent serving. The chow mein was loaded with veggies so that was nice but it all had a weird flavor to it, I've had much better elsewhere. The sweet and sour chicken was good, typical and same for the sauce- nothing special but didn't disappoint. I was sad to give this place 2 stars as the worker was very kind, but overall just was not pleased with the food.

Beef friend rice that's not the right color and nothing but rice a few pieces of beef

Was excited to find a place closer than Mundelein but was disappointed. Beef fried rice that was yellow and not brown and only rice a few pieces of beef. No veggies, egg or anything else. Fried wontons were decent but not great. Guess I'll go back to my old standbys.

Beef and Broccoli and Orange Chicken

Got a great Beef and Broccoli and Orange Chicken. food was ready about 15 minutes after calling. This is our go-to when we want Chinese.

I used to frequent this establishment as a teen and college student (clc) many years ago. I just moved back to Gurnee and this place still does not disappoint. Fast, hot, and fresh service. I take-out ordered the moosho pork, pork egg roll, crab Rangoon, sesame shrimp & won ton soup. It was delicious. My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed their fare. All of that plus 2 drinks and almond cookies for a little over $30. That's a steal! Myself and/or my husband will definitely be repeat customers. It's super close to our new home.

Singapore rice noodles minus the pork.

First time trying this place as I was having a craving for rice noodles and this was close by. After reading the reviews my expectations weren't super high but I must say that this hit the spot. I wasn't thrilled at all that my dish, Singapore rice noodles, came with shrimp that weren't deveined. May not be an issue to some but complete no go for me. So after picking out all the meat, shrimp and chicken, I was able to enjoy the noodles. Also got steamed broccoli to go with the noodles which was spot in a great mix. The portion sizes are huge! If you're dining here for yourself be prepared to have a crap ton of food left over or to be throwing away a massive amount of food. For the price and amount of food you get it's a win! The food was very flavorful and didn't taste bad but the smell of it wasn't that pleasing at all. For this reason I deducted a star.

The food is very good and reasonably priced. We order 2-3 times a month and have been satisfied with our choices.

Dragon Star has all the usual stuff that's Americanized Chinese. Has big portions, which is a good thing about it. The prices aren't bad especially on the lunch specials. Came in at lunch and placed an order to go. It's one of those places you go in and order at a window, and then sit and wait for it. The atmosphere is pretty lame to be honest, with not much going on. About the worst thing that can be said about it. The best thing is the cheap prices. It's about $10 for the regular size entrees. They also have lunch specials. Has vegetarian choices. I got the General Tso's Tofu. Good spice to it. The tofu was firm, and there was a good variety of vegetables including broccoli, carrots, and others. For lunch takeout it's pretty good. It's pretty fast to get most orders. There's a variety of proteins to choose from including tofu for vegetarians.

When I walked in, there were some patrons eating a simple rice and noodle dish and there it was front and center, a microwave... and the older lady cook had just put something in there and punched it for a preset 1 minute timer. So that definitely made me ... know this was about to be sad. They do have woks going, but it looks like the main things that touch them is the noodles and rice only so there is SOME hot food Here is my order: 1 Fried Dumplings 1 Peppered Steak 1 Orange Chicken 1 Beef Lo Mein 1 Beef Fried Rice 1 Sweet and Sour soup This is my review of each: 1 Fried Dumplings - 2/5 Soggy, prefried, definitely from the microwave, not firm dumpling wrapper with bad five spice aftertaste. 1 Peppered Steak and Onion - 2/5 absolute ripoff, meager portions of steak, should be called Onion with Some Steak. just taste like the generic beef and broccoli juice flavor, filled to the brim of raw onion, and poorly cooked bell peppers. 1 Orange Chicken - 1/5 Prefried, Sweet, soggy, bad pieces of meat, absolutely sus looking 1 Beef Lo Mein - 4/5 not enough sauce on the noodles, but the noodles were cooked well and were very hot so I suspect that actually touched the Wok 1 Beef Fried Rice - 3/5 (only because of the raw onion) the rice was the oily fried goodness, idk why they put unevenly cut raw onions in this. It ruined it a bit. 1 Sweet and Sour soup 0/5 - absolutely atrocious. Nothing there at all. Money value I give it a 4/5. Would not personally eat inside as it is cramped and not separate from kitchen. Will not return though overall

It's very hard to find good Chinese food in outside of the city. This is a smaller restaurant. Given it is a small restaurant I think customer service should be a little better. Greeting customers is important. I ordered the combination pan fried noodles, a small wonton soup, shrimp egg rolls and a Diet Coke. They forgot to give me my Diet Coke. I never check but something inside told me and I listened. I went back in. When I got home I got everything I ordered. Flavor wise everything was good. I have watched a lot of master chef mind you. I know about flavorrrr. In terms of the wonton soup I wish the wonton wrap was thinner. The soup and wontons themselves had good chicken broth flavor and I think inside the wontons was pork, very yummy. Shrimp egg rolls were good but I wish I was given sweet and sour sauce and soy sauce like when you go to any other Chinese place. I understand prices are crazy for inventory but giving soy sauce and sweet and sour should be formality and the brand new customer shouldn't be surprised when they get home. Charge an additional dollar per order to give that or something if cost is the problem. RED FLAG! Combination pan fried noodles was a good flavor also. The noodles resemble the crunchy ones in the bag just thinner and they give you more noodles. Yummy, maybe I'll try lo mein next time. I expect soy sauce and sweet & sour to be included plssss. THANK YOU FOR THE YUMMY SUBURB CHINESE FOOD!
