Stoppped in for dinner here last week and I enjoyed my meal. I ordered the Mongolian Beef dinner that came with egg drop soup, an egg roll, fried rice. It was all pretty good and I had enough for dinner the next evening. Fast forward to this evening. I walk in and wait a minute for someone to greet me. When he does he asks me if I'm there to pick up or would like to place an order. I say "dine in, please". The host replies with "not right now". With no other explanation. Maybe I should have asked more questions but I was taken a back. Never have I walked into a restaurant that had a huge "we're open sign" on the door and been told not right now. I could see if he said not right now we are under staffed. Or, not right now the toilet is overflowing. Or, not right now we have to many take out orders to fill. But to just flat out say " not right now" isn't good business. I most likely won't be back. Like I said, food was good. Customer service, not so much. read more

Went for the lunch buffet, and was pleasently surprised. Small crowd, great service, awesome food. Price listed as $6.95 all you can eat buffet, tax plus tip landed me at about $11.00. Well worth it. I walked in, was seated and drink order was taken. Then was released to attack the buffet. Perfect spot for a quick lunch. I havent tried the dinner service, but with the quality of the food in the buffet, i can only guess that the dinner food quality will be just as good, if not better. Very happy. read more

I ordered Krab Rangoon and I am giving it one star because they expect you to use all 6 Krab Rangoons for this teeny tiny sauce cup. If you want more sauce, they charge you extra. I have also tried the General Tso chicken before and it's not all that good in my opinion. The chicken is too crunchy and the flavor is off. read more

Well first of all it usually takes us a while to find a place to eat because we want to make sure it's good etc. so we walked into this place and I can see there is also a buffet going on. So we ordered two lunch specials around 3:20pm (close to the end of the buffet) we got the orange chicken and the General tso and when we got home the food tasted like rubber. The sauce was good but I think they just gave us the last of the food from the buffet so it was cold rubbery and awful. Not cool!!! I had the Chicken Lo Mein, the White Rice, and an Egg Roll- all very delicious and warm even though I was late to pick it up. Be prepared! I decided to give this place a try because I was craving Chinese food and I live nearby. I ordered takeout and was given a time the food would be ready. When I arrived, I had to wait a few minutes longer than anticipated, but it wasn't a big deal. I paid for my food and drove home (about two minutes away) and when I started eating I realized that my food wasn't hot despite me having to wait for it to come from the kitchen. The Winter Park/UCF/Fullsail area don't have too many good consistent Chinese food restaurants. This is a family owned restaurant, that provides great Chinese classics and great service. Everything taste's the way it should, and is always extremely fresh. I mostly come for the lunch buffet, so I can get a little bit of everything. The chicken and broccoli is wonderful, and the wait staff always remembers their regulars. I was expecting a Chinese buffet and was initially disappointed to learn that the buffet is only for lunch, ending at two. I open the menu to once again be taken aback by the prices of the entrees, which ranged from $8-$13, expensive, in my opinion, for a chinese buffet joint. About to walk out, I changed my mind and decided to give it a go. While the entrees are certainly not cheap, you certainly get your money's worth. My favorite Chinese in the area. The biggest draw is the lunch buffet. For just under $7 you can enjoy most of your favorite Chinese dishes. If they're running low, or if you're there closer to the end of lunch, they're happy to cook a fresh order for the buffet upon request. Their fried rice is super delicious, but I also enjoy their noodles. Ribs, chicken dishes, pork dishes, beef dishes--everything is tasty. Surprisingly I like their food. A quality that I liked best was that they cooked their buffet food in small portions. The minute something runs out they cook a fresh batch of it. He Sheng was closed so I ordered from here. First time last time. Guy taking order 100% professional. Arrived and noticed a strong seafood smell thought nothing of it until I got in my car. It was my order. Specifically the bang bang shrimp. Extremely strong odor. Not a good sign. Got home the shrimps were not deveined and had a strong seafood smell and taste. Meaning it was bad. Probably shrimp got too warm defrosting. My General Tso's chicken looked good sauce was fine but was the coldest dish and dry white meat. I can see how people would prefer or pay more for white meat but this was cold and dry. I hope not leftover from the buffet but was that kinda quality. Chicken meat covered in sticky sugary generals sauce that is STILL dry means it's old. The eggdrop//wonton mix soup was kinda lacking salt. Pretty bland. Didn't bother trying the wonton because... The fried dumpling appetizer I had the meat in it had a soured taste. But at least no sour smell like the shrimps. The fried noodles that came with the soup looked like redropped or over cooked noodles. When they are grey or black compared to golden brown they are overdone and a apathetic cook is to blame. The pork fried rice was cold but fine. The eggroll was still hot and standard issue. Best item I was served. I spent $30+ and threw all of it away after a couple of bites. I'll never be back. I don't want to hand out 5's like they're free (oh wait, they are) but I am really impressed by this restaurant! Maybe it's because when I lived on this side of town (until recently) I couldn't really find very good chinese food, but I have gotten 2 different dishes from China Chef and was pleased both times. 1- This time I tried a bunch of different dishes, including cashew chicken, which were just great. Crispy, fresh, the right amount of spice, not too heavy and not too light-- the flavors were just right. 2- This time I got my own dish of curry chicken with fried rice. This was really great too. I got some kind of combo that allowed me to get an egg roll too. Yum! I highly recommend China Chef for your chinese food if you live in the Winter Park area; I've tried quite a few places around that were fairly disappointing. Oh, one more thing- I've only gone for dinner and take out, not the lunch buffet or eat in, so I can't speak to that. WE ARE OFFENDED! We ordered Kung Pao Shrimp and received Kung Pao Chicken. I was just going to deal with their mistake, so my wife and I ate half of the "Half Order". I was disappointed because pieces of the breaded chicken were burnt. So there was a mistake within the mistake! I called to receive the correct order of Kung Pao Shrimp and the manager wanted to charge us. Our family spends almost $200 per month at China Chef because we love Chinese food. I reminded the manager of our family and our long relationship. She still accused our family of manipulation!!
