My fiancée are always on the lookout for a good Asian buffet. After seeing some good reviews on Yelp my fiancée decided we should give this one a try. The buffet included all of the standard items, including Mongolian Grill and sushi. The quality, overall, was better that your average Chinese buffet and this one offered a somewhat larger variety of items than usual. The restaurant was clean, considerably more spacious than is typical for a buffet restaurant like this, and the service was prompt and courteous. The price for the lunchtime buffet was also very reasonable for what we got. Although this location is a bit out of our way to make it a regular stop, we'll quite likely stop in again when we're in the area. read more

Went for the first time today. First, I want to say the food was fresh and tasty. My criticism has to do with the plastic glove they give you to use at the buffet. They expect you to reuse the same glove if you go back, which is gross as you have to turn it inside out to take it off properly. There should be no expectation of reusing a contaminated glove, and I pointed that out to our waiter when she said we should have used the same glove. But kudos to them for providing the gloves. My other complaint is just the ergonomics of the placement of the buffet. There was confusion on which way to access the buffets, especially because it was busy. I must qualify this review as four stars based on the type of restaurant this is. What? Okay, it's a Chinese buffet, not a steakhouse. So.....considering the low cost and the good variety of food, this place earned four stars. The Korean style ribs are excellent, the sushi is just okay, but the numerous other selections are quite decent. They also do a good job of keeping items fresh and stocked. For the most part, I always enjoy China City Buffet. I wouldn't give it 5 stars, but it is good. I've been in there a couple of times in the last few months, but the other day was actually the best experience that I have had in a while. Food was very good, and the place looked very clean. I've been in there when it was not very nice, but I am hoping that this is the new Vibe. I had the stir fry, which I really enjoy, and they got it cooked up for me right away. Great Buffet; Super Busy Christmas Day but no issues as stated on other profiles with the service rec'd - several tables were viewed seemingly long time sitting patrons which was a shame for those who were waiting.it's of large families coming and some leaving, more coming. I'm struggling with the rating to give. The restaurant was clean and open. Food selection was good. I was impressed with the snow crab legs. They weren't the skimpy ones you normally see at a Chinese buffet. But they soak them in the water too long. Causing the shells to be soft and hard to open. I prefer the shell still hard so it's a simple bend and snap to get to the treasure inside. I was excited I didn't have to fight for them either. Lol. They had crawfish but it was in the cold dish area. But they tasted delicious. As for everything else, fail. Everything my husband got was Cold. Everything I got was room temp. Unfortunately, this experience was very disappointing. Most of the food had been sitting for what appeared to be hours. Many items were not replaced with fresh food so we ate very little. When the bill came, we were paying with cash and the server watched as I pulled cash out of my purse and said "where my tip"?. Arrived at 5pm on a Wednesday. All the buffet items were fresh, hot and delicious! There was a wide variety of options. The best variety I have ever seen at a Chinese buffet. I am frightened to endorse any Chinese Buffet since I know many are two stars better or MOST likely worse the next visit but this one was maybe close to four stars the day I was there for the kind of food it is and I most likely won't visit this one again since I don't go to this area often. But the day we were there they has little mini kabobs and they were decent....not like like awesome gourmet but like your neighbor made them for you,beef ,chicken meatballs and really good red snapper that was tasty and impressive moist and seasoned tasty. They had some dark meat chicken that was moist and flavorful it was rolled and roasted in it's skin with salt and pepper...I guess what really impressed me was that everything did taste different and wasn't a bottled sauce like the one major Buffet that I think might use bottled sauce. vegetable dishes I sampled were good lightly sauced not oily or overly sweet. They had less sushi and the desserts than other places but.. they were OK and fresh and well kept. Over all I have to say this place was better than the majority Chinese buffets I've been too. One of the one times I'm glad I saved a coupon from my Valpak in the mail, got a 15% coupon off the dine in buffet! On the weekends dinner is $12.49 and with the coupon we only ended up paying$11.72 tax included! My hubby didn't eat cuz he doesn't like Chinese but I was happy! They had sushi, Mongolian and Chinese, also a small section of American food. The waitresses are very nice and was always checking on us! You pay after you eat, which is new to me because most places make you pay first. Also just a warning make sure you eat all your food because they charge you 20% extra on your bill if you waste food! A Buddy and I ate there just recently in May 2021. Because of the Pandemic, we hadn't been there for a year for Lunch, since March 2020. I kept track of our wonderful China City Super Buffet Restaurant in Mesa through all the Openings, Closing, and the In-betweens. So glad when we drove up to see all the cars in the parking area. There were lots of Diners. The food was "exactly" the same as a year ago. Well-presented, hot, well-cooked, and still lots and lots of choices. The sushi display had great choices (mostly all rolls). The chilled shrimp were fresh and nice-sized and the soup choices were hot and delicious. All in all, a great Lunch at a great Chinese Buffet at a great Price. What else can I say. read more

The Good: The place is clean and inviting. Most food items are fresh and better than average quality. Price is fair and reasonable. I've never had catfish before, and theirs is excellent. The Bad: Sushi is just plain lousy. What they call sushi is, really, nothing but rice/seaweed/vegetable rolls. None taste like there's any fish inside. Worse, nothing is labeled or marked, much less obvious what it is. Their Wasabi is watered down to the consistency of cheap chocolate pudding. Phony krab is never acceptable in sushi! Entrée items are marked, but the labels are scattered haphazardly, hard to read and rarely appear over the dish they're identifying. Staff only speak English when it's absolutely necessary, usually when collecting the bill. The Ugly: Chicken, beef and pork items are typically stale, barely warm, tough and sticky. This is unappetizing as hell, and is typical of EVERY single Asian-based buffet I've ever been to in my life: they place all this stuff out at 10 am and leave it through lunch and dinner without ever replacing it. read more
