Small dorm size mini fridge on the floor. The room smelled foul. Walls so thin I could hear the people in the room next to us having sex at 5:30 in the morning. Then we could hear them fighting and yelling at each other the next day. Only fresh coffee available was from a dispenser machine. Drip machine in the room offered only one (not two) coffee trays in a plastic cheap plastic tray that is inserted into the machine. No place to sit that isn't just a lobby chair at the entrance. Bugs in the bathtub and bathroom sink area. Toilet wouldn't flush (maintenance had to come with a plunger), carpet was "sticky" (no idea what substance was in the floor). It was gross and felt gross the entire time that we were there. If our scheduled event had not been in this hotel, we would have left immediately. Do not book your stay here. Shoutout to the maid service...even though this place was a dump, the maid service did their job well.

The roulette game was out of commission so I played Wild Thing and nothing happened. I then played Triple Double Dollar and even though I did see the machine had a jackpot on there I decided to do the "backup" spins and little did I know I hit my first jackpot there of $2400.00 They do take a long time to get to you that I had to get someone from the cashier cage to come get me. Then, I had to wait another 30 minutes for my handpay to appear. I ended up playing some really old Aristocrat games while I waited and they were a lot of fun as I got a bonus on one and the other a great line hit. I played triple stars with no luck, but double diamond deluxe which gave me $400 dollars. I got my energy drinks with my voucher as the coffee shop is the only one opened. One guest ordered the seafood combination dinner and said everything was well-cooked, fresh, and perfectly seasoned. The fried rice that came with the seafood dinner was cooked very nicely with egg and great texture. Another had the orange chicken, and although there were several chili peppers in the sauce, it wasn't too spicy--just right. The orange flavor really came through, and everything was fried crisp, not soggy. I ordered the Dragon and Phoenix dinner (General Tso's chicken and shrimp with onion and ginger slices), and it was hands down the best General Tso's I've ever had. The shrimp were beautifully cooked, and I opted for lo mein instead of rice--it was fresh, lightly sauced, and not oily at all. This is not a buffet, and honestly, it felt like stepping back 40 years to when Chinese restaurants were more intimate, authentic, and personal. The staff was friendly and courteous, and the time from ordering to receiving our food was impressively quick. I highly recommend this hidden gem. They also offer sushi and a variety of lunch specials (we visited outside of lunch hours), and everything looked so good that I'll definitely be back to try more dishes.

A recent FB question about who has the best fried mushrooms sparked a quest for me…read more Was it blind Tiger? Gibbons? Fumbles? The answers were varied. Turns out Gibbons doesn't even have them. Tigers was using very large mushrooms with caps that had opened. Better suited for sliced / sautéed. They were okay but I definitely enjoyed Fumbles more. The historic building is old and rundown. The old pool table was gone as well as the video poker room. The cubby with the autograph pictures and pay phone is just a dump station for lazy (or busy) staff. T-shirts available in a rainbow of colors. $17-$19 Restroom was okay.
