My husband and I dined here on 10/7. The place is really beautiful and nice. Host was welcoming. The food looked absolutely incredible and came out quickly. Unfortunately the taste was not there. The pork fried rice tasted like straight coffee grinds. The egg rolls were filled with celery?! Never heard of that before. The crab rangoon, red pork, and sweet&sour chicken were all good. Updated my previous review to clarify some things. Decided to go here while me and a friend were waiting for Grandma on Vacation. When we entered, the hostess was very friendly. The server, however, was rude and condescending. It seemed she was stressed or overworked or something. She was a get in and get out kind of person, and it showed. Drinks were from a can meaning no refills. But I felt they were a bit overpriced compared to other restaurants that offered the same can of soda for less. For the meals, we both ordered a sweet and sour chicken and a wonton soup. Wonton Soup came out about 5 minutes after we order and was pretty good. Like the dumpling and meat combo and the broth was tasty. Sweet and sour chicken came out surprisingly quick and wasn't as good. The sauce overpowered the chicken in a bad way and didn't taste very good compared to other sweet and sour chicken meals I've had. Overall, very disappointing for the $40 I was charged for everything, and the experience was dreadful due to the server's rudeness and mixed quality in the food. It's a shame. :( read more

I have to say it's tough to review this restaurant. When driving by the place, mostly looks abandoned. There is a sign on the outside that says yes we are open, looking for employees or something like that. I took my grandson there and we're seated. The first thing I noticed, as other reviewers have noted, he is their prices are incredibly high compared to other Chinese restaurants. Steel Wool and Sick Stomach: China Garden was my preferred local Chinese restaurant but I've been convinced to look elsewhere. I have recently noticed that their egg rolls are predominantly stuffed with celery. I ordered sweet and sour chicken last night and received the sauce with no chicken. I had to go back to the restaurant to get the missing chicken while my family waited to have their Mother's Day meal. I was offered an apology but no effort was made to make up for the mistake or to compensate me for the inconvenience/hassle. I found strains of steel wool from a dish cleaning scrub pad in our rice. This is not the only review testifying to steel wool and sickness. My son also found a black substance on some of his rice. My wife had "gastric distress" last night from our meal and my stomach is upset this morning. read more

My Mom and my sister had told me about this place years ago but I never went there . With Covid so many places have closed but not China Garden . We finally tried it and we are so glad we did . They have the best crab Rangoon's I have ever had . I thought they were expensive until I realize they give you a ton of them . They were so good we were fighting over them lol Everything else we tried we lived too . The chicken fingers were also in my top three places to get them . Went to china garden in Belmont for dinner, spend $65 on food and get a nasty bone and cartilage knuckle in my beef and broccoli that looks in no way like it came from a cow or bull. Called to complain and ask for a credit since I can't eat this and made me sick to my stomach and I get no apologies or offer to make it right,, they tell me to bring the bone back so the cook can see it!!!! The restaurant we usually use did not have chop suey on the menu, which one thing one of my guests wanted. China Garden has a more expansive menu and we gave it a try. We ordered a variety of appetizers, fried rice and of course the chop suey. Everything was delicious. Food was hot, crispy, servings were plentiful and the cost very reasonable. In addition, me expressing to the woman at the window how ridiculous that is, her screaming at me as if I was in the wrong was also UNACCEPTABLE. I have been a customer for over 10 years, and have never been treated so poorly, by them or any other food establishment. I spent $117 for food New Year's eve. Called and placed order on Thursday for pickup at 2:00 Friday to beat the rush. Got to front of line at 2:30 , went home and unpacked food and ate (tried to) immediately. The chicken fingers, crab rangoons, dumplings, and chicken teriyaki were legitimately inedible. They were so overcooked that even soaking in duck sauce was useless. The fried rice and Lomein were good. Clearly the appetizers were made many hours ahead of time! I called Saturday morning to speak with the owner who basically said I was lucky to get food at all on New Year's eve because they are so busy and she knows the food isn't good on that day , nothing she can do because they are so overwhelmed they can't put out a good product. She said food was not made to order or fresh. I said well I have ordered food from other establishments New Year's eve and it was quality product, so she told me then go to them next year! Nice. In rural areas, you're lucky if you can find something that's even as good as *ugh** Panda Express, but this is the only restaurant in this area we've found that actually has true Chinese cuisine. The food is always fresh; we only get takeout orders, but they always ask when we think we'll pick it up, so that it doesn't sit and deteriorate. Of course that means they don't cook things in large quantities, then hope someone orders it. If you're used to big-city Asian food, this is the only one in the Laconia area that isn't grease-soaked, and lousy. We've never been disappointed. read more

Not the best of days and greatly in need of comfort food, so what's better than Chinese food?!? Deciding it would be our lunch/dinner we decided to go mid afternoon. Discovered there is no luncheon specials menu on Sunday, but that was ok! We decided to order a dinner for 2 which includes either juice or soup, choice of egg roll or fried shrimp and 2 entrees. We went with the Wonton soup, egg rolls and number 4 which was butterfly shrimp with vegetables and sub gum fried rice. The tea we ordered arrived promptly served by a very nice waitress. Next came the soup--a full cup of steaming broth, meat filled wontons and slices, not little slivers, of boneless pork. A little bowl of fried wontons accompanied the yummy soup. Next came the egg rolls that were fresh and crispy, very tasty and good size. Of course, there was the hot Chinese mustard and a pretty decent Duck Sauce too. Our shrimp and rice dishes were delivered to us in good time and they were both heaping portions of very good food. The fried shrimp were covered in a brown sauce and veggies---cooked perfectly and served piping hot. Love that! The rice was not what I thought it would be---I thought sub gum meant with nuts, but maybe not. Our rice had veggies in it and was the kind of darker fried rice I grew up eating, but no nuts. It was so delicious, it didn't matter! The restaurant appears to have had some new updates since the last time we actually ate there. We usually do takeout, so not sure when. Needless to say, we enjoyed our meals and we have plenty of leftovers. Also, the dinner for 2 was only $25----can't beat that! read more
