    S1. General Tso's Chicken
    Andrew A.

Tried out China Garden for lunch today. Called in an order for General Tso's chicken with white rice at 1pm. The lady said lunch was over, despite their website stating the lunch special runs until 3:30pm. Whatever. Quite a bit of sticker shock when the price for lunch is $7.50 and when I picked it up they wanted $12.50. I wasn't in the mood to argue over $5, if they want to pull that stunt, they must need it more than me. The food itself was pretty good. Cooked perfectly and the sauce had a nice flavor. Not sure if it's their standard to only include one piece of broccoli or not. I'll try them out again eventually, but no way I'd pay $12.50 for it, considering it didn't even come with an egg roll or soup like most everywhere else does.

The prices are perfect along with the food! I have never had Chinese food that was packed with so much flavor! I highly recommend the lo mein! Delicious! The staff is very friendly as well. I ordered take out and when I arrived i had a few minutes so I enjoyed the wonderful fish tanks that they have on the side wall. The fish are HUGE! It was a very clean and neat place as well for being so small. Again I highly recommend!

    Sesame chicken was very good.

Quick delivery, fair prices and hot food but to be perfectly honest, it was terrible. The kids were really pumped about ordering Chinese take out tonight. Cabin fever is creeping in during these winter weekends, but the single digit temps are holding us captive. So what are we looking forward to on this frigid Saturday night? How about Chinese take-out? The crew was on board! We ordered for 5. My daughter loves fried fish (other Chinese food, not so much). The fried whiting fish we got was not tasty - decent crispy coating but bland and even a bit "fishy." Also got French fries, which the kids liked (always!). The sesame chicken was pretty good, but in the pictures it is surrounded by brocolli, so the kids were bummed when it arrived "sans veggies" (they LOVE brocolli). The fried rice was just ok. The shrimp & scallops with garlic sauce was NOT in garlic sauce. It was in a neon pink sauce that more resembled sweet & sour sauce (noooooo!). It featured shrimp & small bay scallops (which was unexpected). The fresh spring rolls were stuffed with iceberg lettuce and little else ($4 for 2). The winner of the evening with the kids was the white rice and the fortune cookies. In the "special requests" section of our online order, I wrote no plastic please, and please send chopsticks. We received no chopsticks. The kids were good sports about it, but I definitely was let down tonight. Oh, well. We enjoyed our time together anyway but we won't order from here ever again.

The worst Chinese food I've ever ate. The fried rice was sweet. Boneless ribs were ehhh and the dumplings were disgusting. Never coming back

I usually only order fried rice and the fried wings. Good taste no complaints. The food isnt bad, comes out reasonably fast and convenient.

One of the Best Chinese Food Experiences I've Ever Had!…read more I've had a lot of Chinese food over the years, but this place truly stands out. Their Szechuan Chicken is one of the best I've ever tasted, perfectly cooked, full of flavor, and just the right amount of spice. The food is always fresh, never dry, and you can really taste the quality in every bite.

They are currently only doing drive-thru takeout, but you can still tell that the folks are super nice. The son was playing basketball around back when I came to pick up the food, and there's something really wholesome about that that I like. I only spend a week or two a year in the area, so I only get China Panda maybe once a year, but I can report that they've got super solid General Tso's chicken, orange beef, and egg rolls (scallion pancakes and dumplings TBD). They no longer make egg foo young, but luckily I think my mother in law is the only person who is affected by this information, as I'd never heard of the dish before her. They've got everything else that the rest of us order from Chinese joints (except, in my last visit, vegetables with the General Tso's which I thought was odd), and it'll satisfy the craving we all have from time to time.

Now, when I was going to RIT (back in the day), I remember this being a Might Taco... but I'm quite delighted to see it as an OG Dumpling House location too! (Though it's probably a good thing that it wasn't a dumpling house when I was in college, because those freshman 15 would have been aaaaaaaaaall because of the soup dumplings.) You can order takeout or sit in the restaurant. Our getting offered a table when we first got there was a bit discombobulated, but we were asked after a few minutes if we wanted to sit or takeout and we confirmed we wanted to eat in the restaurant. After another minute or two, we were given our table. Because of the time waiting for our table, we had already decided on what we wanted to eat and drink... so we were able to order pretty quickly. We ordered the xiao long bao, of course, as well as steamed pork bao, and then fried green beans, fried calamari, and shumai to share. The items came out quickly enough... but as we were making our way through the plates, I was a bit surprised that our server wasn't also taking away plates that we'd finished. In most dim sum-type restaurants I've visited, it's common for the server to take finished plates away throughout the service to ensure you have room on the table for anything else that might be coming out. Since the tables in this location are perhaps a bit on the smaller side, we soon found ourselves running out of enough space to really spread out the plates to share. The soup dumplings are good... though they perhaps didn't have broth that was quite as flavorful as I'd been hoping for. I'm glad we visited, as OG Dumpling House has been on my list to try for quite a while. Now that the craving is appeased though, I'll be happy to try another one of Rochester's Chinese or dim sum-style restaurant locations.

Service was kind, and the server had mentioned that her own mother was cooking in the back, which was a warm touch to mama's cooking Spicy Pork Bulgogi was tasty, and did have a little bit of a spicier punch to it. It complimented very well with the white rice, added with the Soondubu Jjigae. I wish the Dolsot Bibimbap had the crunch from the crispy rice on the bottom of the bowl, but unfortunately the bowl was probably not hot enough for the rice to crisp on the bottom. To order, you must order at the counter, bring your table number to your table, and then pay at the counter while bringing your table number after you are done eating. There are lots of seating options, so finding a table for 5 was not too difficult.
