Worst experience ever. We ordered delivery and they got our order wrong. Spoke to the manager and he automatically assumed the mistake was on my part when he wasn't the one who took my order. I was over charged since the order was wrong. Didn't offer me a refund until I asked. Then he has the nerve to ask me to come pick up the order. Doesn't that defeat the purpose of delivery? They advertised fast delivery on time. I ordered the Kung Pao Shrimp and the PU-PU platter. 23 bucks. You can't hardly go to McDonalds for two people on that. They told me an hour it arrived in about 30 minutes. Hot..all ingredients fresh....Kung Pao Shrimp, average at best..Pu PU platter, pretty dang good. The best Chinese delivery in town. My boyfriend and I had several unfortunate adventures with the local Chinese delivery restaurants and we were just about to forgo our laziness and actually cook for ourselves when we decided to give the newest menu on our doorknob a try. China Hill, while the delivery can be slow (ergo no fifth star) the food was fresh and actually safe for human consumption! Now, whenever my boyfriend and I want cheap Chinese, we call in an order and pick it up to save time. While it is not the best Chinese I have ever had, it is definitely the best for the price and the best in the area! P.S. Let me give you a hint, while most of the dishes are pretty good, the different fried rice dishes are fantastic and cheaper than the rest of the menu! ;) read more

New Owners? New chef? We have ordered from China Hill (and dined in) for at least 15 years. China Hill was our favorite delivery place. Agree with previous posts - fast and friendly service and delivery. However, in the past 4 months or so, the food has changed. To us, it is not as good as it used to be. While the menu looks the same, the Jalapeno Chicken I order and receive now is nothing like the Jalapeno Chicken from years past, and nowhere near as good.. Ditto anything 'Kung Pao" and the Vietnamese Vermicelli. I think part of the difference is in the sauces - unimaginative, and they have lost something they had before. If the website had a "Contact Us" option, I would have sent this message there, but it doesn't. Still giving them 4 stars because of 15 years of greatness. However, wake up China Hill! Whatever new is going on is not necessarily good. We think you need a new chef (or your old one...) read more

I love China Hill. They certainly don't reinvent Chinese food but the delivery is always faster delivery than they estimate, has wonderful food and the people who work there are very nice. I adore ordering from there and it is the perfect Chinese delivery for the South Austin area. read more

My food was delivered within the time that I was told, but I was charged the delivery fee twice. When the food was delivered the man that delivered it did not seem to be speak English and so I did not say anything. Later, I decided to order again, but I wanted to address being overcharged and just make sure that this did not happen again. The woman that answered seemed to have quite an frustrated tone. I told her that I did not want to complain about it, but I did want to make sure that if it was an oversight or miscommunication that it did not happen again. When I heard her attitude that might as well have said "Okay, whatever", I told her that I had changed my mind and hung up the phone. That said, the chicken fried rice was AWESOME! It was good enough to go back to a place that I had been overcharged, but not good enough to deal with the attitude of the woman taking my order. The Fried Crab Rangoon was not so great. I am so happy to have finally found a Chinese delivery in Austin that I like. The food arrives piping hot in about 10-15 minutes and they have nice big portions. My favorite is the Chicken w/ Cashews and the Hot and Sour Soup. I also really like their Moo Shu Chicken and the Chicken and Veggie off of the diet menu. I usually just add a little low-sodium soy sauce to the diet entree and it makes for a tasty, healthy meal...or two. read more

Sauce tastes good, chicken like it sat all day drying out under a red lamp. This stuff is left over from the lunch buffet, I guess. Nope, there's NO doubt. Who has not tried to reheat a dish like Tso's chicken, even a few hours after it's been prepared? Aside from the slightly racist (hopefully dated) artwork on the outside- they have the best sesame fried tofu in existence. I ordered the cream cheese rangoons, hot and sour soup, orange chicken and the crispy prawns with walnuts. No idea how but the cream cheese in the ran goons had no flavor. Orange chicken was tough, and was bland.. No taste of orange, not tangy or sweet at all. Same thing with the prawns.. There was no discernible difference in taste with the chicken. The hot and sour soup was probably the best part of the meal but still mediocre at best. I ended up just chopping up all the chicken and prawns and made a big batch of fried rice. Food was delivered super fast!!!! Got the chicken wings, and they came out in less than 5 minutes. In about 2 minutes later the Chicken Kung Pao came out. Hot and fresh. I will be back, if I am in South Austin again! I need to get there before 2 pm for lower prices. Now if Capital Metro could run their service so efficient. Because it took 5 to 6 hours to get there and back by bus. No More Trains Capital Metro, focus on your bus service. Tonight, I ordered delivery and I wasted my money. Very disappointed with the chicken teriyaki and the miso soup--do not get either of these if you want to get something with any flavor. The chicken had no sauce and looked and tasted like it had been boiled to death. I had to add my own teriyaki sauce to it, before giving up and grilling it on my stove myself. And the miso just tasted like dishwater--it was truly awful, and cost me 2.50. What a waste. The store sells instant miso 3 for $0.99 and those are MUCH better than what I paid for tonight. This is my second review for China hill because they are STILL THE BEST. I eat it pretty much every week. I sampled a cream cheese/jalapeño egg roll that they are considering for the menu and it was delicious. I hope they add it to the menu.
