I've ordered takeout from this spot a couple of times, and it is soo good y'all! I love supporting a local business, and Rose's Kitchen makes it easy. I've never visited Rose's o.g. location on Manchaca and had never heard of it before seeing their location open on Slaughter, but it is quickly becoming one of my favorite Thai spots in Austin. I've ordered their chicken and pork satays, Pad Thai, Rose's Roti, and the Thai Yellow Curry, all with a spice level of "2". Their Pad Thai is crafted with a house sauce that stands out from other Pad Thais I've tried in Austin. The chicken and pork satays were perfectly cooked and not dry or tough, and the accompanying peanut sauce is so good it makes me want to dump it on everything. I think the pork satay has slightly more of a savory, complex flavor than the chicken. Rose's yellow curry is coco-nutty and creamy , and the roti is a buttery, crispy must-try. The employees I've interacted with are friendly, and it is easy to find parking in the strip mall where Rose's Kitchen is located. Thankful to have such a good Thai restaurant in far south Austin.

Given the popularity of Rose's Kitchen and the limited options of Asian restaurants in South Austin, I decided to give their newest location on East Slaughter a shot. My first experience with the original Rose's Kitchen on Manchaca was unfortunately lackluster. But, maybe they could redeem themselves at this location... While the servingware has upgraded from plastic, unfortunately, the food still doesn't wow me as the rest of the area. I revisited the Papaya Salad and tried the Chicken Satay for the first time--both were major disappointments. The Papaya Salad remains inedible and really should be taken off the menu. As for the Chicken Satay, the peanut sauce was a pleasant surprise keeping its traditional flavor, but the chicken itself was dry and overcooked. This was the last straw for me. I won't be returning--this time for good.

I was disappointed with the flavors. First time checking this Thai restaurant out and ordered a couple dishes such as yellow curry and pad see ew. I've had Thai food at different restaurants before and the food here really tasted just ok. They are not as aromatic and flavorful as dishes I'm used to. I do like the decor on the counter and tables though.

Truly surprised at all the glowing reviews. My experience ordering takeout from here was horrible. I ordered the roti curry with extra roti. The roti was so inedibly greasy. It straight up tasted like reheated super frozen roti you get at the grocery story... the yellow curry was horrible. It was literally just yellow liquid. No flavor and absolutely no veggies were in it... The worst of all was it was incredibly expensive for what it was. $15 since I had asked for two extra rotis.

Great Bento Box Lunch Special: What a pleasant surprise to find this little blink-and-you'll-miss-it spot. In fact, you can't see it from the road, just a name flag at the hidden driveway. Bento served as pictured, all other items were in foul lined paper boats. All three of us were quite pleased with our lunch, in this sweet converted house. Great service, great price, great food. A+ We went back the very next week!

Easy to park easy to see the lid up open. Walk in and a lady will come see you and will ask you if you'd like to order or sit down for dining. I said I will look at the menu to go and the I did a stirfry vegetables extra vegetables with substitute vermicelli noodle instead of rice for a veggie dish With brown sauce. Now the tables have a lot of dust on them from the elephants are sitting on top of them because they're wooden to go area I feel that needs improvement because it's hard to lift everything up and trying to find something that in fact, they were missing to go lids for the containers that they were providing . I did not like the water that they have the tapwater it needs to be better filtered. I feel that the menu needs to improve for vegans because there's not a lot of options and the language barrier was there for me placing an order trying to explain a shape of a noodle for two minutes straight should not be happening.. I seen the cooks. They were Hispanic. One man has put his hands inside his mouth while he was trying to open the front door and the same hand opened the front door and when he took his hand out of his mouth as he was coming from the outside inside the restaurant. Now this is the same man that went back into the kitchen and started cooking the food. I seen a man taking the vermicelli noodle with his hand, taking some out and showing it to his coworker like it's a game and then putting it back into the strainer with his hand and putting it on the stove to cook the noodles from the boiling point onto the container to go, I did not like that because it was very unsanitary for him to do that and play with the food that was already paid for. Some areas I feel that the training of the staff needs to happen and how to respect the people who are ordering the food. I ended up not being able to eat the food because with the misunderstanding of the lady in the language bird that she had and the cooks that placed my food on the hot stove played with it with Disrespect, I feel that this place needs a visit in a facelift of training the staff to the point where they need to wash their hands and not pick their nose as they're opening the front door or putting their hands in their mouth as I have seen. The go containers are Styrofoam and very cheap plastic so where to go I feel that they need to improve that too and they do have chopsticks wooden.

OWMG this Thai place is dope as shit. It was really good. I would come back here anytime I am down in this area. I had the drunken noodles and it was incredible.

Tried Rose's Kitchen and it's some of the best Thai food in South Austin! We had such a wonderful experience! The owner, Mike, was warm and welcoming; he even shared a bit about his connection to Thailand, which added a personal and authentic touch to our visit. We ordered the Basil Fried Rice, Pad Thai, and the Green Curry. The Green Curry was absolutely delicious - rich, flavorful, and you could tell they use high-quality coconut milk. I had a few dishes with tofu, and Mike thoughtfully asked if we were vegan or had any dietary restrictions, letting us know they're happy to accommodate if we had dietary restrictions. Highly recommend this spot! We'll definitely be back.

Parking & Service: Arrival was stress-free thanks to the massive parking lot in the strip mall. From the moment we walked in, the staff was incredibly welcoming. Our server was very knowledgeable about the menu and gave us great recommendations. The Spice Factor: Interestingly, they offer two spice tiers: 1-10 and 10-15. We usually prefer a heavy heat, but found that levels 8 and 9 were still relatively mild. If you're a true spice lover, you might want to venture into the double digits! The Food: Portions are very generous and perfect for family-style dining. Everything was flavorful, though my one small note for the kitchen is that some dishes leaned a bit heavy on the salt. The service has always been great--servers are attentive, friendly, and quick to clear plates, which we've always appreciated. It's part of why we kept coming back. We usually order the fried pompano, and it's always been a favorite. But the last couple of times, the fish has been noticeably smaller--like almost half the size it used to be. That was already a letdown. What really did it for us, though, was finding a plastic to-go cup lid inside one of our drink glasses. It was buried in there, and completely threw us off. At that point, we were just done. It's a bummer because we've liked this place for a long time, but between the smaller portions and that experience, we won't be coming back.

The menu is pretty extensive too, so it was easy for everyone to find something they were excited about. I had the Tum Tad salad, which was super fresh and flavorful with a nice balance of tangy and savory. For dessert, the mango sticky rice was a standout. It was made with a black rice that actually looked kind of blue, which made it really visually fun. The combo plate is the way to go if you want to try the poached and fried chicken. You get a variety of textures and flavors, both juicy and crunchy. Both sauces are great to dip in and the chicken goes great with the rice. If you can handle spice, the boat noodles are a great option too.
