Dirty Plates
Cassandra S.

Server was very nice and constantly filled our waters. This was their saving grace, the server. Where to start, the broccoli and pork when eating parts of broccoli were cold still. The green beans were not all the way cooked. I took some baked chicken but it was slimy and pink. The ambiance was very quiet. The plates were dirty. There were bugs flying around. No one was using the gloves like they have laying out with a sign to use. TVs throughout but none on. Machines open - see photos.

I haven't been her for a year or two and they have done an amazing job at bettering the food and service here. I can for lunch on Chinese new year by myself and go right in. Fresh meat on buffet and plenty space to sit. Busy spot for workers to come in at lunch. Buffet was 11$ no drink for all you can eat. Right off fifth street by all the hotels and casino and highway 70.

Great food and service. We got our drinks quickly. The food was delicious. They have a variety of food to choose from on the buffet. I definitely recommend coming here if you want Chinese food.

Choices were slim to none

This place is in a word, terrible. It was uncomfortably humid inside so I stayed away from the 12 dried out pieces of sushi and the fish which left me with like literally 6 other food options because everything else was either an empty tray, dried out, or super sketch. I had about 6 items on my plate to try because I wanted to give it a chance. I love buffets and always make it a point to finish the food on my plate before going for 2nds but the food was so awful I left my plate as is and skipped the 2nd round. I did, however enjoy the ice cream cups and sandwiches. I mean, how could you mess up pre packaged cups? The one star was earned for the staff because the service was on point but I never in my life thought I'd ever leave a buffet so dissatisfied and hungrier than when I came -so sad.

Plastic sheeting separating part of the dining room makes China House look like it's under construction.

If you like good Chinese food or are introducing someone to it I'd pass this buffet. On both variety and quality China House lacks. Its selection of around 50 food items during lunch contrasts with 75 to over 100 at other buffets. That meant only one lo mein on the buffet (veggie, with tasteless noodles and very few veggies), no egg foo yung or moo goo gai pan, and a virtual lack of seafood and shellfish. Lettuce was available but other salad ingredients were missing except dressings. Most food items looked tired and I wondered how many were reheated. Vegetable fried rice was dry and also looked reheated. The same for fried chicken and pork on a stick. Sushi rolls were poorly formed and fell apart as I picked them up. Chicken or beef with broccoli were stand-outs but mostly due to the gravy/sauce keeping the meat moist. Few food trays were identified and some were misidentified. During the pandemic gloves were provided to be used at the serving trays. However, instructions and gloves were placed in an easily overlooked spot and diners missed them. Staff, by comparison, didn't use gloves (though wore masks) when replacing drinks.

I thought I was going to die once. Turns out, it was just food poisoning. Shortly after I was lured into a Chinese buffet for lunch by my office mates, we all ended up as sick as dogs. I felt deathly ill for several days and it was several weeks before I felt fully recovered. We found out later that the health department closed the place down in the afternoon after we visited. To this day, I do whatever I can to avoid Chinese buffets. However, Hubby suggested this one and I'm a team player so I tried to make the best of it. I found several items that weren't fried on the buffet, including sushi and shrimp. Scary choice for me. Hmmm, raw fish from a Chinese buffet or fried food from same? Well, I ate sushi and shrimp from this buffet and survived to tell about. The Sunday buffet was $10 but don't quote me on that. Hubby saw pictures of crab legs online but there were no crab legs on the buffet during our visit. I found sauteed green beans which were decent and the butter potatoes were positively okay as well. I'm guessing that 90% of the buffet was fried. The sushi wasn't bad. Nothing was labeled but it looked like they were mostly Uramaki rolls. Decent variety of desserts but nothing really jumped out at me. There is also a small floor freezer filled with ice cream cups and ice cream sandwiches. It's probably a great deal if you have a hefty appetite for fried food.

Orange sherbet to go costs extra for a kid that didn't eat since they never had any orange chicken on the buffet

Food scarcity at the buffet. My son wanted orange chicken and it never came out to the buffet. So, figured we could take an ice cream cup to go. Well, they told us it cost extra. Been here once before and it was great but this time they just seemed annoyed when we would ask for orange chicken.

Food and service were very good. There was good variety and a few things different from other Chinese buffets.

Took a full plate of steamed rice and had broccoli beef and 5 kinds of those fried and stir-fried kinda of chickens that all taste kind of sweet and sour.

We were seated immediately, which we appreciated because we were tired and hungry. Since we already have our favorite dishes at Cate Zone, we knew exactly what to order as soon as our server came by. Our go‑to appetizer is always the beef tripe -- non‑spicy -- and it never disappoints. We always enjoy it with a bowl of rice, and the combination is incredibly comforting and flavorful. We also ordered the crisp shrimp with egg yolk, which is my 6‑year‑old son's absolute favorite. It's unbelievably tasty -- rich, crispy, and just out‑of‑this‑world good. For our last dish, we tried the crisp sautéed pork for the first time. This one didn't quite hit the mark for us. The flavor leaned sweet and salty with no spice, and it didn't have the same wow factor as the crisp shrimp we love so much. Still, it was worth trying something new. All our dishes came with a bowl of hot, steaming white rice, and everything arrived at our table in under 10 minutes -- their speed is impressive. The portions were generous, and we left completely full with leftovers to take home. Cate Zone continues to be one of our favorite spots, and experiences like this are exactly why we keep coming back.

And it wasn't spicy enough for me until I had to reheat it for lunch the next day. Woo, re-stir frying it with rice and cooking it for longer gets those chilli oils out and going. Chicken was great and my small side order of rice was plentiful! I ordered this for pick up and it was ready 10 minutes from placing it. Walking in, it was very spacious, and very modern looking. Shout out to the astronaut upfront. I will be back!

For two people, this is my go to order:…read more *Deep fried handmade tofu with special sauce (17.95) *Sautéed lamb with cumin (19.95) *Storm fish fillet (19.95) The lamb has enough of the "wetness" and vegetables to eat and mix with the rice. The lamb pieces used to be small but they are huge now! Appreciate the owners taking the feedback. I think they make the tofu in house. They are huge thick soft pieces with enough crispness on the outside. It's a good introduction to how seriously Chinese people take tofu and how in other countries they have a huge variety of tofu, vs the select few we have in the U.S. And I used to be partial to the spicy fried fish at cate zone, but chilispot has upgrade this dish a lot. It's perfectly crispy and hot!!! Even if you don't like fish, it's a great dish and also makes for great leftovers. I know the fried chicken is popular but I find the chicken pieces are too small. Even with two heavy eaters, we still have leftovers for another meal

We stopped at Chilispot for a family lunch and overall enjoyed our meal…read more The dumplings were a favorite at our table, while the spicy chicken was my personal standout. It was excellent and had just the right amount of heat. I also enjoyed the smoky ham fried rice, although it lacked the distinct smoky aroma I was expecting. Some of the other dishes didn't quite land for me. The fish soup wasn't my favorite, and the beef noodle soup wasn't especially memorable. The cumin lamb, however, was better than expected and ended up being one of the stronger dishes we ordered. That said, the service was friendly, the portions were generous, and there are plenty of interesting options on the menu. I'd definitely come back to try some different dishes next time.
