Imagine the lack of grace to give someplace open one week a single star. Sorry, that's why I usually wait until at least a month to review. However we did eat there tonight and were delighted. Same top quality as the other Mamas. The atmosphere is cozy. Low key and relaxing. Staff is friendly and super organized for being open a week. Only ding? We're big water drinkers and the table water here tastes poisonous, like it's chlorinated. We had to order soft drinks, which we never do. The staff was very friendly and brought special Peppa Pig Dish-ware for our children when we sat down which was a big hit. Kathy was our waitress and she was great! I know a lot of people were thrilled to have a China Mama open up on this side of town but DO NOT RECOMMEND coming to this one. Walked in at 11:10am on a Sunday. Ten minutes after they opened. Couple people seated, 2 couples waiting in front of us. We all sign up on the iPad just like the other locations. 20 minutes pass by and still no one is being seated. More people are coming in and signing up to wait so the lobby is crowded now. Maybe like 12ish tables NONE of the staff is coming by to greet you or say anything. Zero hospitality One of the lucky customers who was already dining asked to put a to go order in and we over hear the staff saying an hour!?? So how long would it take for people dining to get their food? We decided to leave because this is not service. I was a fan of China Mama not sure if I am now. Safe to say I won't be returning here again. They've opened a bunch of restaurants so this isn't a new business trying to figure it out. My grade starts with the same letter as their name. China Mama is a popular and successful local chain that now has 8 locations (counting Express, Haochi, and Spring) with the opening of this newest outpost in Henderson. Taking over a modestly sized spot next to Carrot & Daikon (which displaced a taqueria to the next building over for some reason), they're already quite busy due to the hype, fanfare, and maybe poor host management. When we showed up, there were several empty tables and barely anyone on the Yelp Waitlist. Several parties then signed up and piled into the waiting area that consisted of exactly one chair. And nobody got seated for upwards of 20 minutes until perhaps one of the gentlemen behind us on the list complained, after which the host promptly started seating us at the same tables that had remained empty from earlier. The food was problematic. First was the mysterious case of the Pork Soup Dumplings ($13.99, 8 pieces). It came out actually rather quickly to our table, but one dumpling was already torn and every single other one ripped when we tried to lift one from the paper in the steamer tray. They still tasted about as good as they were at another China Mama location, but most of the soup was lost. ... and then several minutes later, another tray of soup dumplings arrived. Since we already got one, we didn't think anything of it except a mix-up and declined it. But we thought about it later and wondered if that was actually supposed to be our order, while we somehow got someone else's order that had sat around and ended up deteriorating as a result. My guess is that this could have happened if the expediter got one ticket and saw this one sitting there, while the chef got another ticket and started prepping a fresh batch. Whatever the case, that was such a shame. And then there was the Honey Walnut Shrimp ($20.99): keyword "walnut." There were maybe one or two pieces of it in the entire dish, which is definitely not the correct ratio. The shrimp was actually more consistently crispy and flavorful on its own than when I tried it before from that other China Mama, but you have to have the walnuts to have a complete dish. Lastly, the Kung Pao Chicken ($17.99) was blisteringly spicy. I tried a couple of bites, which did taste pretty good to me (especially the chopped garlic), then gave up. My mom seemed to enjoy it at least. The Milky Oolong Tea ($7.00 for a pot that served two just fine) was flavorful enough and reminded me of when I tasted it in the past. Complimentary iced water refills arrived often enough. The steamed rice ($1.00) was perfectly cooked. However, the Thai Tea (normally $6.99) seemed to have too low a ratio of tea/spices, so it was mostly a milky tool. On that note, the actual dining area service also had its ups and downs. I had to remind our server of the grand opening promo (random prize draw with $50+ spend, one per table, ends 6/18), and ended up with just a free drink for the trouble. But I forgot the drink and had to rush back in a couple minutes later, and she was nice enough to remake it. That's not enough to overlook all of the aforementioned issues though. When we first moved to Vegas, I started following food influencers on tick tock. One in particular, Brandon from Vegas, always seemed like he had solid recommendations. One of the recommendations he had was China. Mama. Now the China Mama he was talking about was on the other side of Las Vegas, so I was super excited when a China Mama opened up down the street. We got to go there the night of the grand opening, and there was a bit of a wait. 20 to 26 minutes, but that wasn't too bad of a wait. We strolled around for a moment and then came back and were seated about 5 minutes later. The overall ambiance of the place is very welcoming and warm, it was definitely busy, but definitely not hectic. The place had a very open-air concept, so you could see right into the kitchen while they were making food. I really enjoyed that because it was nice to see how the food was prepared. The chefs back there were absolutely on point. Watching them was like watching an artist. We were seated at our table and moments later. Kathy our waitress came up to ask if we wanted anything to drink. We opted for Waters, and then perused the menu. The nice thing about this menu is it was not overloaded. They had a lot of really great things but it was not overwhelming. You could probably eat here five or six times and never have the same thing twice. We opted for the cucumber and smashed garlic salad which was super refreshing! Something I would definitely order again. For the main course we ordered the beef soup dumplings, the crispy beef, and a couple small bowls of white rice. I got to tell you, it takes a lot to fill me up and by the time we were finished, we were taking some of the crispy beef home as well as the steamed rice. I can honestly say I am stuffed. I have to brag on Kathy for a minute, one thing I appreciate about good waitresses is when they are attentive but not overbearing. Kathy was so on point, she was always there when we needed her, and was never far away from our table. Our table. She didn't hover, she made great suggestions, and made the overall meal so enjoyable! Definitely ask for Kathy! I really wish I had room for dessert as the desserts looked absolutely fantastic. Oh well, the good news is they're right down the street from my apartment, so we will be frequenting this place often Bottom line? I was looking for a really good Chinese restaurant and I think I found it. In fact, I would say this sits at the top of my list. This one fires on all cylinders, great food, great ambiance, great wait staff, and just a great vibe all the way around. Went back again today, but this time we sat inside it's still their soft opening and they're moving along much better Jay, the manager is on point and navigating to the soft opening they're always difficult, but he's leading the charge doing a great job. Onto the food the sweet-and-sour chicken is absolutely fabulous. If you like sweet-and-sour chicken I definitely recommend you try it. Their combination fried rice is magnificent and their dumplings are the best. This well known restaurant chain now has a location in Henderson. I ordered the shrimp Chow Mein, which, was flavorful and had plenty of shrimp. Although, some items weren't available due to the soft opening there was still plenty to choose from. With a solid reputation for serving authentic, great tasting Chinese food it's no surprise its soft opening has garnered large crowds and wait times in excess of 30 minutes. Although, it was very busy the staff did a great job cleaning and clearing the tables in an effort to shorten the wait times. I've been waiting for this China mama to open for the past few months, randomly checking if it's open yet, so I had to stop by today, and although it's soft opening, everyone was great. The food was just as delicious as I remember. It is soft opening right now for the next week and it is a smaller space, I advise to have patience if you decide to go anytime soon, you can check in on their iPad when you get there to reserve a spot in line, and after this week, you can make reservations as well. This was their grand opening today and they did great! Food was exactly what we have come to know from China Mama at all their restaurants. Except this location has dim sum and desserts! I did not add pictures as the food is the same (maybe a few additions) but their menu from other locations, but now in Henderson!! We can't wait for them to begin take out! we now do not have to drive across town to get their fabulous food! Note to self the space is small it seats 50 ppl and reservations are only taken on parties over 6, but worth the wait if you have to. The only criticism I would say is the restaurant was warm...they need to turn the ac down a bit for diners comfort. read more

My family and even my in-laws from SoCal love China Mama so we were thrilled when we heard they were opening a location near us on St. Rose. It was pretty busy when we dined last night. They really have to start making the entrances bigger because they're so popular at all their locations that the entrance is always packed. Unfortunately we were seated by the entrance and had to deal with people awkwardly hovering over you while eating because they're waiting for their table. The food was on point per usual but what dropped my review to 3 stars is the following: 1. The AC does NOT work. It was literally 89F on the thermostat throughout our entire meal. Imagine eating anything spicy let alone temperature hot in that heat. Sitting by the door definitely didn't help either. 2. After being seated, we waited for a good 10 mins before the server came by with menus. She returned in less than 3 mins to ask us if we were ready to order and seemed to be rushing us. We were also missing a place setting and had to remind her a few times. 3. There was hair in our shrimp chow mein. Took a while for us to flag down a server bc ours was nowhere to be seen. He asked if we would like a replacement or to remove it off the bill and we asked for a replacement as we did want the dish and it was still early on in our meal. However by the time we were wrapping up with all our other dishes, we still didn't have a replacement. Took a bit to flag him down again and we just asked to cancel the item completely. All of a sudden he popped up with a takeout box of the noodles and said the kitchen made a mistake and packed it. I would've taken it and kept the charge, but it contained beef and we have family that doesn't eat beef... which is why we ordered shrimp in the first place lol. The rest of the food was good but service was really lacking. I know it's grand opening week but I think the safe move here would've been to staff heavy on a Friday night and then scale back as business normalizes. Seemed like there were only a total of 3 servers in the whole restaurant. Beyond all that though... the AC really has to get fixed here for not just the customers but their own staff as well. It's the start of summer in Vegas heat so the temps won't be cooling down any time soon and it was miserable to eat hot food in that sauna. For now, I'd stick to the other locations in Chinatown. While everyone was waiting, half the tables were unoccupied and i wasn't sure why they chose to keep people waiting instead of seating them at all the open tables. This was my 1st time eating china mama as I always wanted to try it and they opened up a location not far from the house. To me it's not the original style authentic Chinese food, it's to Gourmet style for me. I've been fortunate enough to have travelled a great deal and experience world class Chinese dining but I grew up in the Midwest and fell in love with Americanized Chinese foo. The food is fantastic. It ranges from tasty Chinese you don't know but will love to Chinese food you rarely experience. We've eaten at their other locations many times and have never had a dish we didn't enjoy. Our server, Sandy, was friendly and attentive. Be prepared for a wait time but things might calm down over the next few months. I would expect a rush for the initial opening though it may remain busy as it's the best Chinese offering in the Henderson area. The ambiance is nice. It's informal but modern edging close to little cramped when it's at full capacity. I would have preferred a bit more of an upscale Chinese theme like the location at palace station where my family first experienced China mama but that's my feelings on the matter. My one complaint was the ambient temperature. It was a little too warm for waiting for a table. It's Las Vegas, it should be cool enough inside that when you walk outside you welcome the warmth a little before you get in you car and cook. read more

We have been twice now to this location for dinner, once during the soft open and again tonight. We were excited to try the Mapo tofu, as we are big fans of this Szechuan dish. It is so authentic here. But also loved the cucumber salad and fried eggplant. Both times the service has been a real highlight, with friendly and attentive staff. I really wanted to enjoy the food, I do, especially as someone who has eaten in other China Mamas and genuinely enjoyed the experience; however, there were multiple problems that just left me scratching my head. First and foremost was the whole waiting situation. While I understand that wait time can vary, especially during a lunch rush; however, I did not understand why was there a long wait and there being three to four tables clearly available. Crazily enough, we were seated at the mentioned available table... an hour later. Genuinely almost laughed in disbelief at how bewildered I was. I can also understand the disbelief from the other people around as well, especially some who had to wait outside the heat. Secondly, the food. While there was some food that was delicious, especially the pork joint stewed with rock sugar and the beef rolls, the rest of the food was somewhat lackluster, borderline disappointing. First the Honey Walnut Shrimp was one of the foods I was excited to eat, especially due to the long wait, but there was barely any sauce. Literally parts of the shrimp were only coated in one side and it was barely crispy. The string beans had a weird texture when chewed, flavor was barely there, which was disappointing considering we have tried the other China Mamas' string beans. Finally, the service left us wanting more. We ordered the crispy duck and we had to follow-up on it three times. We were in the middle of eating when we asked for a follow-up, followed up again when we were close to finish eating, and then once we were done with our meal. We were simply at that point just done with the experience at the place. Overall, the experience left us disappointed, unsatisfied, and still hungry. I saw a lot of reviews about wait time. The wait was long but it's expected with a restaurant that is super popular. Everyone was really nice. The soy sauce and chili oil was provided upon request. The regular water did have lil to no ice but with our drinks, the passion fruit juice and my sparkling water we got a nice portion of ice. Everything we ordered was delicious and full of flavor! Definitely worth the price. The only thing I probably wouldn't order again is the duck but it's because I'm partial to Peking Duck. 8:30pm is a good time, minimal amount of people. The food is okayed, but the place is hot and humid when we were there on Monday 6/15/2026. Even though the ceiling is high, it still very uncomfortable to eat there. I complaint to the server and he said the heat from the kitchen is blowing out to the dining area. He apologized and said there's nothing he can do about it. We tried to eat fast to get out of there and pack the left overs to go. I hope they can do something about their AC. Too bad, I really like their salted egg prawns. Went just now and it was by far the absolute WORST Chinese food in Vegas! Bland, flavorless, insanely overpriced- the chow fun was overcooked and had more bean sprouts than noodles, the take out container had more flavor than the crispy beef and the pork rolls were just terrible! Lamb chops were good but a 30$ appetizer is not where it's at. Seriously no joke- Panda Express is sooo much better and I do NOT like Panda Express! FINALLY, a good Chinese spot in Henderson. One thing Henderson lacks is good dining establishments especially Chinese food. Dare I say PF Changs is the best we have and that's freezer meals. Every table was full, and several guests were waiting to be seated. all signs of a place the neighborhood has been eager to welcome. Since I was only looking to place a to go order, I didn't check in for a table. I was told by an employee the wait for takeout would be about an hour, which wasn't an issue. What was disappointing, this employee was on break occupying a four top table to eat while paying customers continued to wait for seating. With the dining room already at capacity, seeing a full table used for staff meals instead of guests created an avoidable bottleneck and left a poor impression. read more

I am a big fan of China Mama, so I was excited about a branch opening in our area. We came in around 11:20 on a Sunday. There were at least 4 groups of people in front of us with 2 per group based on the waitlist. What I noticed was, there were 6 tables that were not occupied, but the hostess said 35-45 minutes wait. I was a talking to someone in the waiting area, and he's said he was a togo order, and was told it would be around 45 minutes to an hour. The other groups in front of us said they have been waiting for 20 minutes. My wife decided to leave and eat somewhere else. I DO NOT RECOMMEND EATING HERE, unless you are willing to wait an hour to get seated. read more

All the food was delicious from this first visit to China Mama! We so happened to come on their official grand opening for their Henderson location! They've had a few days beforehand as their soft opening days so it was exciting to try it out for the first time on their official grand opening day. Came around 3:30pm and there was no wait. Parking was readily available as there is lots of parking around the restaurant. Our party of two was seated immediately at a small single table for a Wednesday afternoon. Towards the end of our meal, all the tables started filling up around us. Our server, Kathy, referenced that it has been a bit busy during regular lunch and dinner times. They do have an in-person Yelp waitlist, but no virtual waitlist as of 6/11/2026. She mentioned that soon they may accept phone reservations for larger parties, but it might still be in the works. I appreciate that the size of the space inside is not gigantic. Maybe total capacity is around 60-75 people? I could be totally wrong. Kathy was simply amazing. She was welcoming and kind throughout our entire meal. She checked in with us and was attentive to refilling waters and making sure the food was all good. She was great at offering suggestions for what to order. We ordered the following dishes: Sizzling Rice with Seafood Soup - Really good table presentation with a very mild seafood flavor. It has the sizzling rice squares, broccoli, bok choy, shrimp, and some sort of fish. Good serving for 2-4 people. Definitely add some soy sauce or chili oil from the table to add flavor. Signature Salted Egg Yolk Prawns - Simply amazing! The prawns are cooked and fried perfectly with the coating on the outside that just sticks to your lips! They were very flavorful and juicy on the inside. No complaints or issues overall. Crispy Beef - Really nice contrast to the other savory dishes. Slight sweetness with the crispiness, but not overly sweet. Very crunchy and there is a lot to share to the table. Mama Special Mixed Fruit Tea - This was very refreshing to combat the outdoor heat. A bit sweet with lots of different notes of fruit flavors. A little expensive for no refills, but on-par with similar drinks at other restaurants so who am I to nitpick. Would definitely get it again. Unfortunately, they had no pork soup dumplings this day, which was sad! Everyone around us who I overheard attempting to order them were a bit disappointed upon hearing this as it wasn't even dinner yet! The only downside to me personally was the heat inside the restaurant. The door was left propped open the entire time we were there and it didn't feel as if there was AC, so it was toasty. I did notice that there was a bit of disconnect for people coming in and entrance hospitality. Sometimes there would be no people to greet people/groups coming in and they were faced with just an iPad/tablet check in. Sometimes a server would assist if there was someone to notice, but it is a bit awkward to have people come in and stand around waiting for someone to help. I can see this being a problem when it is very busy with lots of people coming in and out during lunch and dinner, but I am not sure!
