I love Chinese Garden, especially their Singapore noodles. The portion sizes are great, and it always feels like you get a lot of food for what you pay. I also really love that their takeout comes in the white cardboard boxes instead of styrofoam. It just feels so much better for the food and way less messy. I will say it can take a little while to get your food, which is why I almost always order ahead for takeout, but it is always worth the wait. The best Chinese food in town. I came in for a to go order on a Saturday night for a football game night at home. It took about 30 minutes, that's pretty amazing for a Saturday night. Food is amazing! Service is good but this restaurant has many pick up orders and on and off traffic in the restaurant and many times just one worker. The services does depend on how busy it is but to us it's worth it. The restaurant has been around for decades and I think a deep cleaning and maybe restoration would lift the restaurant. But besides this the food speaks for itself. We usually get foil chicken, pork fried rice, vegetables chow main and Sautéed bok choy delicious! I spent over $130 for below standard food and Customer Service. Our order was incorrect. Items were missing, things I ordered weren't even on the bill. They SCAM their customers with larger boxes of food when you order double. But you do not get double. It comes to about 1.25%-1.50%. In the larger box but the customer is being charged for 2 full doubles. TOTAL SCAM. So I called the restaurant to explain the incorrect items. First thing Ana says - "I didn't take your order." Ok, so Ana likes to pass the buck. The mouthier and ruder she got. The mouthier and ruder I got. I explained that 1 item was missing, 1 item was incorrect and I was over charged for it. Restaurant is filthy and run down. Wait times are twice what they tell you when ordering. Customer is always considered wrong, apparently, as I overheard the hostess laughing at customers and denying that she had been rude. Not impressed! We ordered take out at 5 and it wasn't ready until 7. They messed up order, they gave us an extra order of sweet and sour pork and no chow mein. Sweet and sour pork was not great- no pineapple and hardly any peppers. Broccoli beef was okay, but pretty mushy. Egg foo young is my favorite Chinese food and this was absolutely horrible, the worst Iv'e ever had. Tasted like they poured a bottle of water on it. Dude, I've been obsessed with the hong kong style chow mein here for awhile, its all I get. Amd just like usual, it was great. A little wonky with the cut of the pork, and a little skimpy on the bok choy (I asked for extra, didn't get it) but all in all delicious. Also, the pork fried rice was excellent today. But my wife, who has a cold, wanted me to pick her up some egg drop soup to help her feel better. So I did. One word describes the soup I got today. EEWWWWW. First off, it shouldn't have been called egg drop soup. It should be called scrambled egg soup. Big honkin clumps of clumpy chewy egg running all through it. What the frick man. Egg drop, or egg flour soup as it's sometimes called, should have thin whispy tendrils of egg running through the broth, giving it a smooth velvety consistency. Smooth and velvety it was not. Watery chunks was more descriptive of what I got today. Next - the vigi's in the soup. Normally a very welcome addition. Today? Not so much. Many of them were uncooked and crunchy. Imagine trying to eat hot soup, slurping on it, getting clumps of scrambled egg, spitting that out, cuz eewww, then slurping some more and getting a mouthful of Crunchy uncooked diced carrots. What the frick, yo. Then, lets address the fact that the broth might as well been unsalted water. All those crunchy vegitables released their water into the broth, Rendering it thin and flavorless. Come on now man. Anybody who makes soup knows you adjust the seasonings as you go, test the vegitables for proper consistency, and always ALWAYS taste it before you serve it! I ordered 2 hours ahead and when I arrived at the restaurant I had to wait over 45 min to get my orders. Also if you call and make a order they want your card before hand because that way they can trap you. Also has a weird smell . The best Chinese food we have had so far in Yuba City. We went really close to closing and that seemed to be a bit of annoyance to staff who kept making comments...so note to self don't go near closing. The hot and sour soup was good but adding hot chili oil from the table made it great. The Brandy fried chicken was super crispy and the chicken was juicy. Thr lemon chicken was fried nice and the sauce was sweet. The pork chow mein was not bad and the fried rice was also just ok. The fried wonton were way over fried and almost hard to eat. The egg roll was just ok as well. What I do appreciate is that everything was freshly fried not sitting around for hours. The sweet and sour pork plate had 6 small piefe of pork making it 95% chowmein 5% pork. The pork was also very chewy. We will likely go back here as I said it was the best put of the 5 Chinese food places we have tried. The cost was actually pretty decent coming in at $42 for all of that...fed 3 people with left overs. read more

Terrible customer service. I called ahead at 5pm to confirm that they were open for indoor dining and if there was much of a wait for a party of 5. They confirmed that it would not be a problem to seat 5 and that they were open until 830pm. I traveled an hour+ to meet with my daughter and granddaughters for dinner, arriving at 615pm. Walked in, not a single person was waiting to be seated, and many of the people seated had received their meals already. I checked in and was told there was no way we could be seated tonight. I asked if they were still open until 830pm and they said "yes". I asked if there was a wait, and the stated "no". I'm just totally confused as to why they can't drag us and why they would be so accommodating over the phone and then completely the opposite upon arrival. No apologies or anything. Ordered over 100.00 in food from this place, was told it'd be two and half hours, which itself is insane. But I actually like the food, so I accept this. My wife goes two and a half hours later to get our food to be told that no, our food isn't ready yet, but will take substantially longer, Meanwhile, she watches as customers stream into the restaurant, order and then get served their food, eat, box up their food and leave. My wife sat there for another HOUR AND A HALF before we got our food. They were rude on the phone, rude when she arrived, and plain acted like she wasn't sitting there for over an hour after their stated wait time. I've been a 30 year customer of this place and I'll never be back. Unforgivable treatment. I'll tell everyone who will listen about how awful this place has become. read more

We eat at Chinese Garden probably once a year when we visit family in Yuba City. We always order the same stuff, and it's consistently good. Part of it is the comfort that it's the same. They also know my aunt well, so they are always very friendly. My favorite here are the Chinese Salad and the fried chicken wings (maybe brandy chicken wings?). My aunt has ordered the chicken wings as take out and brings it to the Bay Area for us, and it's still good hours later! read more
