Really delicious and fresh food with great service. Use any of the sauce combinations on the sign and your food will turn out great. This the best Mongolian bbq place we have ever visited.

I loved Mongolian BBQ here, it's one of my favorite. I think there aren't as many options in terms of sauces/toppings/types of noodles. However, overall, it's super solid! Everyone working there is super nice and I enjoy visiting whenever I'm in the area!

One of my favorite place to eat when I was stationed at Beale AFB. We always make a point to come and eat here whenever we are in the area. Food is delicious and service is great as always.

I haven't had Mongolian BBQ since I was overseas in the Navy. You get your bowl, put everything in it you want: meats, veggies, sauces. It's neat to watch the guys cook your food on the ginormous skillet. Wish we had one in my area!!! One of the ladies who worked there is actually from the Bay Area and we were talking about that there used to be one in the area. You also get soup, rice, and wonton pieces. Everything was very very good! Also, the employees are all very friendly and seem to love their job!

Ask the Community - The Mongolian BBQ

How much is the all you can eat dinner bowl?

It's about $11 after tax. Very reasonable and includes a drink, rice, soup, bread, wontons, and the BBQ.

Seems like it's not all you can eat all week, is this the case or not?

It's an all you can eat dinner, but one trip lunch.

Is this all you can eat?

Yes or you can pay for 1 bowl/to-go box

Is this the same owners of the place that burnt down in yuba? Sorry been gone awhile.

    Yep! Same family, new location.

I grew up eating Mongolian bbq at malls and was so excited to see a stand alone restaurant! We came on a Sunday lunch and started moving along the food counter right away, starting with meat then noodle then veggies, then toppings, then sauce. We had lots of fun with our different strategies to fill our bowls as much as possible. The staff was pretty attentive and refilled any stations that were running low. I love how customized the noodle bowls are and was able to adjust my sauces to my taste. I appreciate that they have a few recipes posted for reference. Our noodle bowls came out so delicious and we had fun creating them! The restaurant itself was clean and it's nice that the staff helps to seat your party, especially once the place gets a bit packed. We notified constant flow of customers while we were there.

After two decades of coming here, it's still one of my favorite places to eat. Highly recommend!

You make your own bow of food (raw) and they cook it for you. Meal starts with noodles, then veggies, meat, and final stage is the sauce. They have a list of recommended spoonfuls of each, and you can get wild with it if you want! I went garlic heavy and really liked it. Veggies were cabbage, onion, broccoli, zucchini, mushrooms, sprouts, spinach, kale, peppers, and a few others. Meat was beef, pork, lamb, and chicken. I tried the beef and lamb with my two servings, preference was the beef. Ambiance is good - somewhat busy and they're cooking food nearly non stop. After our second plate a big lunch rush came in, we had enough already but wait would have been a bit longer after a group of 10 came in! All You Can Eat-ish... Bar-B-Que…read more.. I was excited to find out there was a Mongolian BBQ in Auburn. For weeks, my coworker and I have been trying to get our schedules lined up so we can go try it out together. Finally, tonight was that night. We parked in a large parking lot around the corner and noticed it was not busy. One of the employees was sitting outside (outdoor seating is available) on his phone, but he was so welcoming and opened the door for us. He took us to a booth and gave us the run down. Sit. Order your drinks, and go get food. Go back for more, because it's ayce... Tony was really nice and had a great smile! He told us how it works - The server would be over to get out drink order. Then, she brought us some crispy wonton chips with some sweet & sour, a cup of soup each, and a small bowl of rice to share... although there are signs that say "do not share," lol. I'm not sure why you can't share if everyone is paying the same price and eating almost the same exact thing... especially, if it's ayce for everyone... It was exciting to see what they had to offer. After finishing the soup, we walked around the wall to fill your bowl with meats (choice of pork, chicken, beef, or lamb), noodles, vegetables, and at the very end, the flavorful liquid. These liquids make your dish. You can put on a simple teriyaki, but that will make it sweet. There is a house sauce, sesame oil, soy sauce, ginger, wine, vinegar, and kung pao sauce. If you aren't sure what you like, there is a "Sum's Sauce Recommendation" recipe up for your convenience. **Be sure to tip the grill cooks!! The best way I have noticed to do this is to grab 2 bowls. One of for your food and the other, you will want to fill to the at least half way with your liquids. The saucier the better with me! I spoke to the cashier in the front... who told me it's $21 to dine in, and $17 to take it to go since the person taking theirs to go wouldn't be ayce.... (never mentioning the extra charge.) When we sat down, it felt like something in it was missing... maybe a little salt? Usually, I nail my own sauce recipes. Good amount of soy sauce, sesame oil, ginger... garlic, chili oil... a little kung pao... Since we weren't too happy with the flavor of our first bowl, and finished just over half... and this was an ayce... we decided to go back and tweak our creation. This one had better flavor (I added A LOT of soy sauce, ginger, and sesame oil), but I seriously could still not taste the sesame oil and this trip, and I used a lot (is there such thing as sesame water?). Then, I wondered if they were using low sodium soy sauce (i asked, and it was regular). I'm wondering if all these sauces are watered down since the soy sauce and ginger sauce were lacking major flavor. The sesame oil couldn't even be detected... so either it is old or a not so good brand. I figured I would just take the rest home and fix up the flavor... and since I overheard a server offer to box someone's meal up...I thought that was neat that we were able to take out food home...turns out... we had to pay to take home the rest of our bowls(extra$9), or pay extra to not take it home... a "waste" charge(extra$8). When we first walked in and we asked how this Mongolian BBQ worked, they left out the part about paying for waste/ or taking home the rest of your food for a charge. If we had not gone back for a 2nd bowl, we would not have had to pay the extra charge because we would've just not finished it and left. I felt a little ripped off. Of course, after we were ready to pay, they pointed to the sign on the wall that we did not see... in fairness, we did ask how they operated and we were told to go get more... but we were not told about the extra charge. I felt cheated. Over all, it was not bad, it just was not good. It was edible, but definitely not worth the extra charge.. i didn't even want to bring it home, but with the extra charge, I figured I would fix it up at home to make it taste better. This brought our bill to close to $60... $30 split each. Not worth it. I feel like a great honest business that is confident in what they serve would have been up front about the charges before springing them on you in the end. They even brought us the bill without the extra charge when they noticed we were close to finishing, but then took the check back to add on the extra charge. The signs should have been pointed out. Service was great. Food was not anything to be excited about. Day after, I warmed up my food with a few drops of a sesame oil that I have.. it added 10 times more flavor than the 2 ladles of soy sauce and 3 ladles of sesame oil that I added at this restaurant.

He was excited I was a little hesitant because this is a very low key smaller Mongolian barbecue. We had a fabulous lunch the white staff make sure everything is kept tidy because it's such a small quarters that if you drop a little bit of food, it shows up quickly, but they are on it. They have most of the regular items and then extra items like two types of noodles, which I always appreciate it. Husband likes the fat ones so I like the thin ones. What really surprised me was that I have to get to the normal selection of proteins like pork, beef, chicken, and lamb and through the veggies selection area where they also have tofu and pineapple, and pass, they make your own sauce, they have CALAMARI and small SHRIMP on ice right before the cooking station! When you sit at the table, you get great service if you order sodas they're constantly refilled. The dinner service also comes with soup a bowl of steam right rice, some crunchy wonton strips and sweet-and-sour. I was also pleasantly surprised to find out that not only do they have Sriracha, but they also have traditional chili oil that you can order with your meal for flavoring. They still have their soft serve ice cream for afterwards with sprinkles and chocolate strawberry Hershey's syrup. Lunch is a few dollars cheaper than dinner. We went at 4 o'clock, so it was dinner our but dinner you can go and get as many refills as you want. The only caveat is if you do get a refill, you cannot take home leftovers. Which seems fair. Super low-key not fancy but a very, very decent Mongolian barbecue and I will be back!

Watching the cooks hard at work and mastery of Mongolian bbq was like a well-oiled machine. Watching the cooks and seeing staff continuously refill the food, toppings, and sauce containers for customers, while also putting out more bowls and trays, was like watching a flawless production! As for our food, the price of lunch is bang for buck because of how much you can fill your Mongolian BBQ bowl and the soup, rice, and addicting wonton chips with sweet and sour dipping sauce that come with your lunch meal. I gave 4 stars because the garlic and potato soup was super salty. My friends and I agreed this soup would have been perfect if it didn't taste like salt was poured into it. In addition, watching the cross contamination of some diners touching the raw meat in their bowls then touching the next tongs, like for the veggies, was a big health risk concern for me. With this, I keep in mind that I don't even know if this can be prevented due to the way Mongolian BBQ works with customers serving themselves, like a buffet. I understand it would be hard to control and prevent the cross contamination from touching the meat, especially as customers try to make room in their big bowl. In the end, the number of people dining, then seeing more people entering, shows how popular Hula's is!

We have seen many staff changes over the years, but everyone is very pleasant and respectful. There are so many choices for meats and veggies. And while the stations may get a little messy, they do a good job of cleaning and clearing them off occasionally. They also tackle the floors. It is so fun to be able to choose what you want in your bowl. I would go heavy on the sauces at the end because they are watered down a bit 5-6 scoops as recommended may not suffice for some people. A few of my favorite toppings include: beef, bok choy, spinach, baby corn, mushrooms, green onion, cilantro, peanuts, garlic and sesame oil. There are other options like tomatoes, pineapples, bell pepper, broccoli, Turkey, chicken, and pork. There is only one type of noodle - it's a thicker chow mein noodle. The chefs do cook your food on a large flat top. While you can tip them in cash in the jar, there is also an option to tip on the terminal when you check out. It is all you can eat here for lunch and dinner. There are slight variations in the sides for lunch and dinner. I believe it is soup, gyoza, and white rice for lunch and for dinner, wonton chips with sweet dipping sauce is added and the rice is upgraded to fried rice with vegetables. We also noticed a lot of people ordering DoorDash or takeout.
