Don't get me wrong, I love their food, but the older Asian woman who works there is horrifically mean. I enjoyed it there enough to ignore her often yelling at other customers, calling me stupid when I ordered something and it turned out to not be what I had hoped, have her be rude on the phone, demand I tip her more more more, all as her poor daughter watches in horror often, but after a horrible experience with food poisoning from their Mongolian beef, I am done. No amount of tasty food should be enough to withstand a woman treating you like you aren't human every time you go in. It's a very unwelcoming environment and disappointing. We live in Moraga and this is our "go-to" place in Lamorinda for authentic Cantonese food. The owners Bing & Ivy are very customer oriented and go out of their way to make sure you're taken care of whether dining in or taking out. Service is efficient and the dishes are served piping hot, are reasonably priced and the portions are generous. Our kids love their salt & pepper pork spareribs and beef chow fun (wet style) and I'm a fan of their bitter melon beef (an acquired taste for sure!) and steamed rock cod fish with soy sauce, ginger, & scallions. Also, this is one of the few, if not only, Chinese restaurant in the area that serves brown rice - a staple of my diet now. Awesome. Highly recommended read more

My go to Chinese restaurant. Standard Chinese food, but there's nothing wrong with that! I love the chinese chicken salad. The chicken is deep fried goodness and the salad makes me feel like I'm at least attempting to be healthy. The lunch menu is super affordable and it's all family run. The service is fast and efficient. I have seen them running around buying groceries in Oakland Chinatown on the weekends so I feel like they are really dedicated to this business and serving their patrons. This place was decent. Not the best Chinese I've ever had but not the worst. I had the Sesame Chicken lunch special. The portions were plenty and everything tasted good. I prefer Szechwan Chinese Restaurant in Orinda, but if I'm stuck in Moraga and want Chinese, I would return to China Moon. read more

Our family has been going here for years and years and years. It was the first restaurant our girls went to when they were a week old. It's my favorite place to eat out on a cold, rainy night or when I need healthy, delicious comfort food. We love the big round tables for family birthday dinners and our kids request this spot almost every year - maybe because Mr. Ben and Mrs. Ivy know them by name and even give them little red envelopes on Chinese New Year and candy on their birthday! We have eaten almost everything on the menu and never been disappointed. Usually these days we just get the family meal because we get soup and egg rolls and several delicious entrees to share family style. I'm literally OBSESSED with the Dry Cooked Green Beans. I've tried to duplicate them, but they are never as good as China Moon's. The kids always love the pot stickers. I also love the Honey Walnut Prawns, the Lettuce Wrapped Chicken, Mu Shu anything, anything sweet/sour, and anything they make with eggplant. They are super good at cooking veggies. Oh yeah - and Broccoli Beef. Seriously, we've had everything and it's all good. Just order anything. Your mouth and tummy will thank you. We are local and I love this place. They know us and what we want, which makes it so fun. Salt n pepper crab is awesome and only served in season, so you know it's fresh! Singapore noodle is a for-sure winner with kids. We really like their chicken and lettuce wraps. read more

Fast good Chinese food when you are tired and want a quiet place to have dinner with a friend or family. Hot and Sour soup is a must for us. We like all the prawn dishes. Moo Shu (sp?) pork is one of our favorites. They always have brown rice available, which is our preference. It's simple fare and great fast service with no wait. Great prices. read more

My husband and I always have dinner every Friday at Three Brothers From China restaurant in Pleasant Hill with a group of friends. We decided to try this one, a little closer to home in Moraga. We are actually very pleasantly surprised! It's a bit more upscale but they do have some dishes that you can only find in Oakland Chinatown--not usually found in this type of neighborhood. They have a "special" menu that is terrific for four people-$28. Just add an extra dish for more people. It includes West Lake Beef Soup--our favorite and not usually included on an economy "price fixe" meal like this special. Not all Chinese restaurants do this soup well but it is excellent here. Also, you MUST order this rice dish--SALTED FISH RICE WITH CHICKEN. This is a very popular down home dish that you don't normally see unless you are in Chinatown and they do it perfect. We always order it when we are in Hong Kond and our friend down the street said it was the best he ever had and we have to agree! We've only gone a few times now and we don't know the owner well yet but he is extremely friendly and has substituted dishes whenever we ask. He definitely wants to please the customer. read more

Ok but nothing to rave about. Came here on a Saturday for lunch and the place was pretty quiet....total of us and 2 other tables. We had the lunch special, which came with soup, salad, an egg roll, entree with rice, and orange wedges and fortune cookie. Good enough food and fairly inexpensive - the three of us couldn't finish our meals we were so full and the total bill was $21. Soup was good. Salad was ok - iceberg mix, chopped peanuts, a little dressing Beef and broccoli was icky - beef was poor quality and the taste was very bland. Egg rolls were ok. Sweet and sour pork was good. Sesame chicken was very good. Fried rice was very good. Service was good. So overall, I won't protest going there again but I won't be the one bringing up the idea. read more

Pretty good Chinese food. Great BBQ pork fried rice. They deliver which is a bonus for busy or lazy people.

We have had takeout from China Moon and have had lunch there fairly often. They have the best pot stickers I have ever had--full of meat, not like other places where they look more like raviolis, very flat. Their fried green beans were a surprise recently, since they had a lot of jalapenos in them! I thought they were great, but my husband doesn't care for hot things, so the next time we ordered in, I asked for about half the jalapenos and it was delicious. They have very good wor won ton soup, full of all sorts of thngs, and we have had several main dishes we really liked, too. The service is always good and the owner (I think) is always friendly. Best ever Chinese food in the East Bay! The owners are sooo appreciative of your business.

The only authentic Chinese restaurant in Moraga. This is very good Cantonese food in an area that you'd least expect it - the land of beef and broccoli and Americanized Chinese cuisine where most of the dishes taste like they use the same sauce. My husband and I come from Boston and have experienced Cantonese food in many places, and for some reason never came to China Moon for over a year after we moved to Moraga. To our surprise, most of the dishes we tried have been surprisingly good, and we have noticed many Asians eating here, with some of them eating dishes that are not on the menu, that you'd expect in places other than Moraga. The owner is super nice, and explained to us that we could call ahead and order items like fresh steamed live shrimp, clams with black bean sauce, surf clams with vermicelli (gwai fei pong)- all items that we never expected would be available in this area. They do have dim sum items on the menu - these aren't freshly made, so I wouldn't try the dim sum. But overall, a gem in the land of no-good-Asian-food. Highly recommend. read more

Great service, value, and quiet.... We were in Rheem the other night after visiting family and had planned on having Nations. I saw the China Moon and decided to spare our stomachs the terror of a grease burger (even though they are fantastic). I'm glad we did. We had the Schechwan dinner for 2, and it was excellent. The food was speedy, service was friendly, and portions were ample. You have to love a place where the employees are smiling. :) read more

Had never been here before, but they were open on a late Sunday afternoon, so we went. The wor wonton soup was great. I had a clay pot roast beef. It was awful. The beef they used was 80% fat. It was strewn around my plate after we ate. The "stew" was some cabbage leaves on the bottom, and this terribly fatty meat. When we finally got the owner to bring our bill (by yelling out load, as no one came to see how we were doing), I told him that the meat was very fatty. He ignored my comment all together. I'll never go back - bad ingredient quality. read more

Host was outside smoking and then came in to seat us smelling really bad from the smoke...Server kept insisting we buy more food even though we ordered the dinner for two with an appetizer...2 adults, 3 kids....she seemed really bothered, .food was good but small portions compared with other Chinese restaurants..i thought it was strange that they bring each plate sepetately instead of all the main courses together....Bill came to about 50 bucks...probably won't go back, because of the service.... read more
