    Spicy fried chicken

We used to live in Walnut Creek many years ago and this was one of our to go restaurants because food were authentic and good. We came back yesterday and was disappointed that the standard has dropped so much. The food taste very Americanized.. just brown sauce and sweet. Spicy chicken was not spicy at all. The service was good though but we will not be back.

Much better than expected! Local mom and pop store I found on Yelp here! Very friendly staff, wished service was faster. I took the menu myself and had to wave at the staff. Ambiance was bright, food was tasty, will come again if I am in the vicinity. But will not purposely drive out to visit this place.

I was looking for a good sichuan place and found this place on Yelp. I was seated fairly quick and ordered the crispy beef lunch special and spicy fried intestine to go. It came with soup and complimentary peanuts and a side of sliced cabbage. Everything was delish and service was great.

House Special Garlic Noodles -- I initially was skeptical about other Yelpers saying they tasted like real authentic (Vietnamese style) garlic noodles, but they were correct! The noodles were Shanghai noodles style so they were thick egg noodles, and the garlic flavor really came through. I also enjoyed the house combo of chicken, shrimp, etc. Delicious, and I would definitely get this again. Cumin Beef -- the beef was flavorful and the cumin flavor came through, but there seemed to be too many distracting vegetables in this dish that took me away from the beef itself. It wasn't a bad dish but I've had better cumin beef elsewhere. Szechuan Spicy Crispy Beef -- super yummy, and same as my previous review. Hunan Smoked Pork with Cauliflower -- super yummy, and same as my previous review.

The spicy lamb was really good too, def has a kick at mild

First and foremost, I'm a typical Chinese (Canto) food kinda guy since that's what my grandmother use to make as a kid and that's typically the type of food you find here in the states. I usually don't go for Sichuan food. I just moved to the area not too long ago and I've been everywhere in the Countrywood plaza except this place. My family and I ended here by chance when the pizza joint was taking too long to seat people. We sat down and order some dishes and it was surprisingly full of people. On top of the typically Sichuan dishes we had, they also had your typical chow mein and chow fun dishes etc etc. My family and I ordered a bit of both and it was pretty dang good! I didn't think a random spot here in Walnut Creek would be good, but they've been open for a while, so that should be a tell tale sign that they are good! The service was pretty good, all the staff was attentive and really nice. The crowds there are pretty mixed with different folks so, down to try this spot again. Their spicy is spicy which is normal for Sichuan food but super taste.

Came in on a Saturday night, about 6pm and the restaurant was very busy. We were seated as we walked in, but it took quite some time before we got any service. They were short staffed, but doing the best they could. Everything we ordered was absolutely outstanding! This is our family's new favorite Chinese restaurant! We ordered: Beef with Bitter Melon, Crispy Beef, Salt & Pepper Fish, Honey Walnut Prawns, Combination Hong Kong Style Noodles, Eggplant in Garlic Sauce, and Dry Cooked Green Beans. We had a feast, and ate it all!!! Well, the only thing left over was a small amount of the Beef with Bitter Melon. Coming back in December when I'm in town for the holidays!!!

Sichuan House, Walnut Creek: 2024 Jul 30 (4.25 of 5) This eatery has had its ups-and-downs. Today, it was 'up'. The food was good, the setting was comfortable, and the service great. As soon we were seated, they brought out a plate of peanuts and cabbage in chili oil. The peanuts were fresh and crunchy. Our first bite of the cabbage sees smoke coming out of our ears. The chili oil was super spicy. We ordered a family meal for the three of us - Shanghai Style Prawns, Dry Chili Lamb and Chow Fun with extra combo. For another $1.50, we got prawns added to our chow fun. Overall, this was a 4-plus for us. My friends said they will surely be back.

At 12:30pm, at the height of lunch time, there were only 2 customers in the restaurant. I was greeted by a pleasant lady who led me to my table. I ordered their lunch special Kunpao Chicken that came with hot and sour soup, a small tasty egg roll and steamed rice. The Serving was generous and the chicken was delicious! The soup wasn't too sour, authentic but not overpowering which I liked. After my meal, I had enough delicious leftover for dinner. There were just 3 customers, including myself, the whole time I was there. It's sad because the place looks nice and clean, and the food was great. Give this place a try and I promise you won't be disappointed.

The menu is average and so is the food. Lunch specials come with soup ( mom liked it, I didn't), plain white rice, eggroll ( definitely frozen ) and your entree. We chose fried fish. Mom got the spicy and it was way too spicy. They offered to replace when they saw her trying to catch her breath. She can usually do the hot stuff. So we both ended up with salt and pepper fish for $16 each. It was fine, not great. I imagine I won't be back.

The…read moreone thing that really stands out the most to us is their Sichuan Beef Stew Noodle Soup, which I've praised so many times in my previous reviews so I'm not gonna repeat myself so that I don't sound like a broken record, but it's just so good! Another thing we ordered when we visited this restaurant yesterday was the Sichuan Cumin Beef. I honestly forgot how much we liked this dish. The way they cooked it yesterday was incredible. Every bite was packed with flavor (savory, very cumin-y and spicy!) , and even the veggies were fully infused with it. It went perfectly with steamed rice. I want to give a warning though, because this dish was extremely spicy, which I personally loved. I liked it so much that I ended up ordering another one to go so I could keep eating it at home over the next few days, lol. I also want to give a shout out to the guy who was basically single-handedly running the restaurant yesterday. He saw us walk in carrying a car seat and offered us a high chair, but he flipped it upside down so we could safely place the car seat on it. Such a simple back but genius. On top of that, he was super friendly the entire time. The restaurant was pretty empty, which is pretty normal for this restaurant whenever we visit it, although they seem to get a lot of takeout orders - happy for them. The empty restaurant actually worked out perfectly for us since we had a baby with us, haha. Overall, it was a really good dining experience, and I'd definitely keep coming back whenever I'm in the area.

While he was working incredibly hard, it's unfair to both the staff and the customers to have a "one-man show" during dinner rush. We waited 30 minutes for drinks and a full hour for food--which is nearly impossible when you have a hungry toddler with you. We ordered a non-spicy dish (lotus root) for our toddler, but it arrived spicy anyway. Since we couldn't wait another hour for a remake, she ended up just eating white rice. To top it off, our beef tripe and blood in hot pot broth dish arrived without the blood. When we finally flagged Rambo down, he explained they intentionally exclude it because some customers find it "smelly." As a Chinese customer who specifically ordered the dish for the blood, I found this frustrating and deceptive. If an ingredient is being removed from a titled dish, guests must be notified upfront. We enjoyed the flavors of the spicy tan tan noodles, lotus root, black pepper lamb, and ma-po tofu, but the management needs to hire more weekend staff. We'll stick to takeout from now on.
