Came here for lunch by myself yesterday around noon. The restaurant was pretty packed. I ordered 3 items: har gao (shrimp dumplings), bean curd rolls and chinese sticky rice wrapped in lotus leafs. The food came fairly quickly and were hot and tasty. This is my go to place in Walnut Creek if I crave for dim sum. The food is ok although the price is a bit higher than Oakland or SF Chinatown. I am glad to see that this place has good business during lunch since there aren't that many choices for dim sum in Walnut Creek and I want them to stay in business. The restaurant is clean but in my opinion it can use a remodel or some new furnitures. I have been coming here since it was called Shanghai Gourmet before. Questionable service. I stopped by to place a take out order. Now it's Friday night, and busy, but not that busy. I stood at the front desk for almost 5 minutes while the woman at the counter shuffled menus without acknowledging me. She did a lap around the restaurant, came back, and then asked how she could help me. I told her I wanted to place a to-go order. She proceeds to take my order when the phone rings. Rather than placing the line on hold because she has a live customer in front of her, she decides to dive into the conversation! I'm very keen on customer service, and the fact that I was initially unacknowledged and then intentionally overlooked tells me all I need to know. Very first time visited this Dim Sum restaurant in Walnut Creek. Very delicious dim sum served. The Shrimp Toast was the highlight, at least my family and I order this to try and surprise to us it was extremely delicious. The price of the dim sum items was rather pricey but I wouldn't say it's over-priced given the current inflation of the market. Service is great here, friendly servers. C sicken feet is a little puffy, over steamed. Ingredients inside the tofu skin is generous. Unfortunately, this was my first and last time ordering from this place. I tried several dim sum items and desserts, including the baked egg tarts, shrimp har gow, shrimp rice noodle rolls, custard lava buns, and shrimp and chive dumplings. Overall, the food was below average, and several items were unpleasant enough that I couldn't enjoy them. The worst part was finding a long strand of hair on one of the custard lava buns. Best authentic Cantonese dim sum in the CoCo county area! I grew up with dim sum in SF at least once a week with my grandpa and it reminds me of him every time we go. Creek House is family owned and the owners are still working every day, passing down the tradition to their daughter who runs most of the operations. Their baos are super soft and tops are perfectly toasted. Their dim sum and Cantonese dishes are cooked perfectly without being saturated in oil. The bbq pork baos are my absolute favorite and that's coming from the daughter of one of the most well known bakeries in SF (Red A Bakery, since sold when my parents retired). The restaurant was pretty busy but we had a reservation and were seated promptly. We were given water and a chance to check out the multiple menus. Creek House Dim Sum Restaurant is located in a strip center across the street from Mercedes-Benz of Walnut Creek, occupying the space previously used by Shanghai Gourmet. My buddy Geroge F. invited me to a dim sum brunch here on 03/08/2025. At 10am, we were their first customers of the day. The staff greeted us immediately, and we were seated in a booth on the right side. The interior was clean. No changes were made to it since my last visit here pre-COVID. Tea was brought to us promptly. Ordering was done on a paper menu, which featured a wide array of dim sum fare. We ended up getting seven items - har gow, siu mai, steamed spareribs, steamed chicken feet, pan fried daikon cakes, baked ube buns, and roast duck. Our food started to arrive in about 10 minutes. The dim sum items were pretty solid. I especially loved the baked ube buns. They were light and fluffy, and the ube custard filling was right on. The roast duck, however, was atrocious. It appeared they used deep-fried day-old roast duck and served it as regular roast duck. The appearance was somewhat comical and disturbing at the same time. It seriously looked like it had been exposed to a heavy dose of radiation. Service was alright. A couple servers refilled our tea and water several times. Pricing was on the high side comparing to restaurants in Oakland and the South Bay. For Contra Costa County, this is a good dim sum option, especially if you don't want to drive to Oakland or down Hwy 680. Just make sure you don't order their roast duck. 3.5 stars rounding up to 4 because of their service and convenience. Mahalo to George for the outing! I was looking for a good dim sum spot and my brother had suggested this place. So I decided to try it out. He mentioned that the way is usually long on a Sunday given that a lot of families tend to come here after church. Parking wasn't too bad when we arrived. We put our name on the waitlist and the host told us it would be a 10 minute wait. We waited 15 minutes which wasn't that long. There were several tables and it was very busy inside. The only thing I missed was seeing a person walking by with a cart full of different varieties of dumplings. Unfortunately this wasn't that type of dim sum restaurant. We ordered a few items which is a bit pricey compared to other places. My favorite was the sticky rice in a leaf (I forgot the name of it). There wasn't anything that really stood out from what I remember. The service was ok. It was a little difficult to get a servers attention. Aside from that, I'll have to come back. There was no dish that really stuck out to me but I can say this will be a nice place to have in my back pocket for my dim sum cravings. Wow, I remember loving this place the last time I went which was about four years ago. I just went today with a group of friends and we were not impressed. All the dumplings seem like they were too thick. The crab Rangoon's were just almost to the point of being inedible because they had been fried way too long, same with the potstickers. In fact, I'm looking at the pictures. I took four years ago and the crab Rangoon's were perfectly lightly deep-fried instead of how they were today which was way too deeply fried. It was difficult to get a server to bring you water. The chive potsticker was just way too thick, a ball of dried chives in a thick potsticker. Shu mai also dry. The soup dumpling was OK but once again the dumpling part was way too thick. The egg custard crust was good but the custard inside was a congealed ball not creamy. I was just really disappointed and to spend $130 for lunch and to go away disappointed was not fun plus I had told my friends about it and they were so excited and it just wasn't good anymore. I am a real sucker for mom and pop Chinese restaurants and this place really rocks. Yeah, it's not as refined or elegant as the high end dim sum restaurants in Dublin BUT it isn't as expensive and you don't have to wait in line to get a table. Honestly, if I lived in the Tri Valleys I would eat here regularly. My husband and I came here a few years ago and sat down to try a few different items for lunch and now every time I'm in the area all I can think about are the BBQ pork rice noodle rolls at Creek House Dim Sum. When I'm in the area, I usually order togo and eat in my car. Sometimes I get myself one order, sometimes two, and if I'm nice I'll grab extra to bring home for my husband. Quick review on the fantastic dim sum at creek house. The service was excellent and the pricing is similar to dim sum in Oakland Chinatown without the crowds. You order from the menu - no carts - so everything is made fresh. The shrimp chueng fun is one of the best I've had on account of the huge shrimp they put in the rice rolls. The chicken feet are best in class too - well cooked (soft) and huge pieces (4 of them filled up the entire dish). We also had taro puffs, radish cakes and the pork rib/Chinese sausage rice and all of them were excellent. The last dish is pricey but comes w a large portion of protein and is very filling. I ordered 7 items from the menu, but 4 of my items were missed. I sat there for 20 minutes waiting for my food, and nothing came. What made the experience even worse was that the manager, who is the owner's daughter, made the mistake but didn't even bother to come out, address the issue, or apologize. Mistakes can happen, but the lack of communication and customer service was extremely disappointing. Unfortunately, I will not be coming back. Customers deserve to be treated with respect and have their concerns taken seriously. Based on my experience, I can understand why this place may have lost so many customers. The minute you walk in, you're greeted by the smell of rice cooking and a gorgeous mural on the wall. There is a wait area to be seated. José our server went above and beyond to explain the ordering process and made excellent recommendations, he could tell we weren't experts at this but he also didn't make us feel like we didn't know what we were doing. We ordered a few different dishes from the baked bbq pork buns, or shrimp dumplings and a few others, which paired with jasmine tea made it a flavorful and satisfying meal. One star less due to no complimentary soul and the pork buns being smaller than other places but seriously does not diminish the great flavors and freshness! Creek House Dim Sum is a gem in Walnut Creek for delicious and quick bites! We were able to get seated right away and the servers from the start were very attentive to our table, even educating us on the special of the day. The walls are adorned with pretty artwork and it really does give you that nostalgic feel of entering a dim sum restaurant in the 90s/2000s in a nice way. There is plenty to try - the highlight for us were the shrimp dishes and the salt and pepper calamari. You really can't go wrong with what you choose here! We used to frequent Creek House all the time because it is the closest to us from Vallejo. Overtime we stopped going because we just got tired of dim sum in general. I decided to order some dim sum for a potluck gathering at my sisters place for Mother's Day and because it sounded good. We do love their baked buns, siu mai and soy sauce chow mein. However, today I decided to order online via their website. Little did I know that it was via door dash until after I placed the order. There was no issue until maybe 30min later. I received an email that they adjusted the price of my order because of my special instructions. The instructions were to cut the shrimp balls in half and to give sweet and sour sauce and the white mayo sauce which I think comes with it when we dine in. When we went to pick up the food, I mentioned this to the younger gal at the register. She said that they have nothing to do with that charge and to contact door dash. I was like ok. Idk what door dash has to do with it. I contacted door dash and they said it's the merchant as they don't have the ability to charge and make any changes. So I called creek house again. The older guy answers and he said from what I understood that it was because of the sauces! I mean, this is something that comes with it when we eat there and naturally should come with it. He said that because door dash charges fees this is why they do this. Well, if that's the case, they should have a separate charge for the sauces or have a disclaimer somewhere idk. I got charged an additional $4.37. I ordered two orders of the shrimp balls and he said it was $1/each. Had I known it was via door dash their platform, I would have just called it in first of all because I don't support door dash. Second, how do you want us to eat the shrimp balls? Without sauce? I get times are tough and very dollar counts, but to charge me and I had no idea what it was for until I had to ask three times? We probably won't be back again due to this and just becuase we are tired of their food. But this is just us and I won't say we didn't enjoy it in the past.
