I ordered Hot and Sour Soup, Happy Family and 2 egg rolls - it also came with rice. It was delivered and arrived on time. It came with multiple extras like plastic forks and spoons plus hot sauce, duck sauce and soy sauce. The hot and soup soup was chocked full of egg, mushrooms, carrots and tofu. The Happy Family had shrimp, beef, chicken, onions, broccoli, carrots and bamboo in a thick spicy sauce. The egg rolls were big but the reason I didn't give 5 stars as they were more thick on outside and plus the whole meal was really hot except the egg rolls. Really great place! read more

So I decide to try out Yelp's EAT24 app and order online for the first time and it didn't go so well. Alright so I wanna see if I can trust the app and first off, ordering food is a breeze. So simple, so easy, done. I went to Ming Moon of Newington's Yelp page and clicked on the Order tab in which it directed me to the "Ming Moon" EAT24 page. I ordered House Fried Rice, Boneless Spare Ribs, Shrimp with Mixed Vegetables, Sesame Beef, and Fried Chicken Wings. I get to Ming Moon in NEWINGTON and they tell me "oh no that's Ming Moon of Wethersfield, that's where you ordered from" UGHHHHHH they told me this isn't the first time it happened and they're not a bad option for take out so I don't blame them but I blame the Online Ordering that directed me to the wrong Ming Moon. Now I get to Ming Moon of WETHERSFIELD (Thank God I know the area so this wasn't as much of a problem but if my schedule was busy I would have been pissed) they told me the same thing, they specifically said there's been a lot of screw ups with EAT 24 redirecting people to the wrong restaurant. Okay now that that's sorted out here comes my review: I come home and start opening up the bag and stuffed my plate with everything I ordered. Shrimp with Vegetables was not bad, Shrimp was very nice and vegetables weren't overcooked. Fried Chicken was good too, can't go wrong with that. But my favorites, Sesame Beef, House Fried Rice, and Boneless Spare Ribs were not good enough for me at all, yes I understand this food is cheap and you get great amounts but I could have easily got it somewhere else for the same price with higher quality. The Boneless Spare Ribs was mostly just bits! Like it was crumbs of spare ribs and a few meaty pieces. I felt like I was eating the last of the spare ribs and I got all the little bitty pieces of it. As for the Sesame Beef, it looked great but was pretty mushy. I got more flour and the beef was masked by it heavily. And for the fried rice it was lacking seasoning, it was very bland. I had to eat the rice with the sauce of the other things I ordered or else I'd feel like I'm eating white rice with bits of chicken and roast pork. Well everything was edible, not horrible but blah. I just wanna put out there how this place is TECHNICALLY stealing customers from Ming Moon of Newington. I hope the issue gets fixed soon, I wanna be able to TRUST online ordering as this is my first time trying it and of course something happens as I suspected. By far the worst take out Chinese food we've ever had. Tried for First time hoping to discover a go to place. Well. Three dinners. $38. Three unanimous disappointments. Sweet & sour shrimp was over fried hard and crusty. Beef lo mein (meat??) was terrible. Boneless ribs were extremely dry no flavor. Even the rice was unremarkable and hard to describe it actually. Overall quality is well below par. As a customer I have the right to inform them of my dissatisfaction and ask for refund but I won't because I'm voting with my wallet and the buck stops here. read more

We have been to this restaurant for over 18 months to two years and I have to say they make some of the best Chinese food around! The food is good and they specialize if you ask. First and foremost, they make the best vegetable lomein I have ever tasted! I have been to a substandard Chinese restaurant where they just throw in frozen mixed vegetables-BUT NOT HERE! The lomein had onion, bean sprouts, carrots, mushroom, bok choy and was flavored great! Try the General Tso, I always order with extra sauce and extra spicy! Even their chicken wings are the best. We order from here once a week at a minimum! Very good pricing and great food! Other things to try - chicken or beef and broccoli in garlic sauce made spicy - yum! They have always been pleasant and on time with delivery or pick up. So if you are looking for good quality Chinese food, this is the place. I've had to wait a couple weeks to write this review because the food was so traumatizing. Even now as I type this review, I have flashbacks of how horrid it was. The food tastes full of MSG and freezer burn. Completely inedible and oily. I ordered the General Tso's chicken, beef lo mein, and hot & sour soup. I was especially disappointed by the watery consistency and taste of the soup. Delivery was also 30 minutes late even though I already waited over an hour. Also, the delivery man was unfriendly. The food was just ok, the lo mien wasn't quite what I'm used to getting when I order Chinese. The texture of the noodles different and the seasoning was a little off to me. The Crab Rangoon and Spring Rolls were a bit chewy and barely warm.... The drink that was down in the bag with my food was no longer cold, maybe is cooled the food off faster? I ordered from Grub Hub and the order arrived at my hotel 30 minutes later than expected. had they delivered the food when it was ready perhaps it would have been better... I called to check on the status of the order and the gentleman was friendly and offered to contact his driver. When I inquired on the reason for being late once it arrived, the girl that delivered gave me a sour face and just left? The Chinese fast food is the best I've ever had! I love Chinese fast food and have it all the time. Their general tsos is my go to. It's so good I get it all the time. I eat it as soon as I get in the car and it's the best when freshhh. It's seriously my fave. Best of all you can see everything it's a clean and tidy place. The food is not very good. 2. Limited vegetarian selection I've been on a Grubhub kick lately for convenience --turning into a shut in. So, I try to eat a mostly plant based diet... not to say I don't chomp on an occasional steak or burger but research does indeed show that an animal based diet causes Cancer and shit... I digress, but not by much. The point is, I eat vegetarian when I choose Chinese, Thai or Indian food. They make excellent tofu and tasty plant based dishes. Most of India is vegetarian and much of Asia likes a fish and plant based diet. This should be an indicator of what to order. So, I ordered szechuan tofu, steamed veggie dumplings (steamed is the ONLY way to go for take out; otherwise they get soggy) and ordered beef lo mein for the husband. Surprise #1, mushrooms in the lo mein; the husband hates mushrooms so there was some mushroom inspired whining that took place. Usually, meat lo mein is fungus free. I order it for him all the time when I have no idea what he will want to eat. I did not sample this. The veggie dumplings and dipping sauce were decent; a- ok. The tofu dish was basically inedible. I took a few bites and it tasted kind of burnt and yucky. The tofu was a crappy texture (more crappy than typical tofu), leathery and burnt. It was also full of mushrooms which I enjoy but not in a weird, sweetish szechuan sauce... it was supposed to be spicy. I threw the rest out... this is weird for me who will eat stuff I don't like with an episode of Supernatural on. read more

ordered delivery through grubhub, came on the earlier side of the expected delivery time. the quart of pork lo mein was packed, and could have fed 2-3 people alone. the egg drop wonton soup was somewhat thick (i don't order wonton soup often at restaurants) with a plain flavor, but very hearty and filling. the wontons had a thick skin and were quite large. the beef and broccoli was on par with other takeout/delivery places i'm used to. the white rice was very tasty for some reason, the texture was nice. all of the food was nice and hot! something noteworthy is that this place has reasonable prices! i was looking at a different place closer in hartford before i realized that they didn't deliver - they were more expensive by a few dollars, which was the difference between tacking on the beef and broccoli to the order or not (for under $20 with tip). the delivery lady was very friendly and courteous. i wouldn't hesitate to order here again for takeout or delivery. read more

A pleasant surprise and perhaps the best Chinese takeout in the area. Since Americanized Chinese food has become so standardized and repetitive, it's the tiny details and nuances that separate the restaurants. Ming Moon pretty much met or exceeded my expectations on every level. The portions were more than reasonable for the price, my delivery time was only slightly longer than expected which wasn't a problem because they comped me a bottle of soda and the delivery girl was polite and apologetic. The food - beef Lo Mein, A Pu Pu platter, sesame chicken and pork with mushrooms - was intended for 3 people but more than enough to feed 5. Everything was hot, fresh and properly cooked. The sesame chicken in particular (often soggy and far too sweet) was delicious and the pork dish was impressive ( the pork was tender and the veggies crisp) for the price. It's not like they're going to win a Michelin Star or anything but it's tough to beat this quality for the price. read more
