I usually really enjoy this place. But I got a wonton soup with my lunch special and there was 1 wonton with zero filling in it.

We were searching for a new Asian restaurant and ended up here... and sooooo glad we did! The service was amazing and attentive even with several takeout orders being handled. New to Hebron restaurants.. I placed an order to go around 3:30.. Waiting for my husband to come home from work to eat dinner.. I Couldn't resist trying it!! OMG.. Tina was spot on with everything I ordered. Po-po platter for 2 came with 2 steak on a stick, golden fingers, egg rolls, fried shrimp, rangoons and boneless spareribs!!! More than enough for 2 people.. I also got an extra side of Rangoon's, house special lo-Mein and fried dumplings!! I tried one of each.. I was impatient waiting for hubby to get home so had to sample. Rangoons are amazing!! The boneless spareribs and steak on a stick were fantastic and the portion were perfect plus!! The shrimp was crunchy and tasty. The egg rolls were probably the best I ever had! Then I tried the golden chicken fingers they were not greasy and thick with outer bread coating, they were yummy! The fried dumplings ( my husbands favorite.... )He will not be disappointed.. The lo-mein was huge I ordered the house special. Abundance of beef, shrimp, pork, chicken and vegetables. I think I got everything I ordered" Just a small sample until I eat dinner with my husband." I would 100% recommend this restaurant!! Tina who helped me choose what to order was so nice and friendly. I asked if I could get a glass of wine while waiting.. Tina informed me they don't serve alcohol.. Rice was bland and still crunchy :/ and the general tsos was more breading the chicken, only about 20% of it was actually meat. Lo mein was pretty bland also and very dry. Unfortunately won't be coming back here any time soon. read more

We were there on Saturday for dinner. I tried the hot and sour soup and ginger chicken dish with brown rice (new and spicy? ). My spouse had the sizzling combination plate with white rice. Our friends had Singapore mai fun and chicken noodle and rice soups. This is our second time with our friends. I don't know why I picked the hot and sour soup again when I didn't like it the first time. It wasn't spicy nor sour for my taste. I can't tell the soup base was vegetable or seafood. The dark soy sauce was too much. I chose a new and spicy ( one chili sign) ginger chicken dish with brown rice. Okay, I'm not trying to be picky. First the red ginger slices used in the dish weren't appetizing. If the ginger was young, it should not be red unless it was dyed. Ginger slices are NOT spicy if sautéed with chicken slices. The taste of the dish was decent but NOT spicy as there weren't any chili flakes or real chili at all. The teenage son is the only server at the restaurant. He was efficient to take our orders correctly. He is a busy host too. He also takes phone orders too. I don't recall any music in the premise. It is quiet but has Chinese artifacts in the premise. Our friends love your food as they patronize you quite often. We only come as it is the only Chinese place in Hebron where their lake cottage is 10minutes away. We are just visitors and good friends. To each his own. My Asian repertoire is more expanded than anyone in the group. read more

It was our first time noticing and trying your place. From the time we called and placed our orders to the time we picked them up, you were efficient and accurate in the orders. We picked them up at curbside outside your door. I was very satisfied with my Singapore Noodles but not so much with the hot and sour soup. It seemed starchy and not spicy enough. My husband was happy with his Mongolian Beef combo and his vegetable spring roll. Our friends had sweet and sour chicken, house mai fun, cashew chicken and a large house soup. I can speak for my spouse and me that we would definitely come back a second time. In fact, we have a choice as you are next door to Ted!s. I'm going to assume the food didn't have MSG as my lips weren't dry after consuming the food. We appreciate that you offered crab Rangoon's in lieu of a discount coupon. Good job! They gave me free real duck sauce, made from authentic duck marrow!!! Instant five stars, that's it I'm done. On a more serious note, this place is a gem and should be in a bigger market. Their food is always perfect and they have some of the best boneless spare ribs I've ever had. They are juicy and tender and delicious. The red juices dribble down my chin as I smile at those staring at me whilst I eat. The staff is always friendly and smiling as well whenever I go in or order from there. My only one wish is that that delivered!! I live in Andover, and my only choice is the place in that strip mall, but I feel like Zen really has it covered, and it's not too overpriced. I can't wait until I have another hankering for Asian cuisine. If you're feeling really adventurous, pop next door to "The Package Store" and pick up yourself up a bottle of Sake to really pull the meal together. read more

Very disappointed in my recent visit. I was a dedicated patron for over 4 years. My wife and I would typically order from this restaurant once a week and in some instances twice a week. I truly believe in supporting local businesses. I recently put an order in and unfortunately the order I gave was misunderstood. I picked up the order on a Thursday night, not realizing it was not what I ordered, and headed to the Cape to our rental for a long weekend. Once there, we sat down to eat and noticed the order was incorrect. At that point it was 10:30 PM and when we called there was no answer. We saved the food, went without dinner (as everything was closed) and figured we would connect when we returned to CT. On Saturday, I walked into the restaurant, gave them our uneaten food, and explained what happened and fully expected the owner would understand, tell us no worries you are good customers, and get us a replacement order. Mind you I have ordered from this restaurant for 4 years, spoke with one of the owners (the women owner), congratulated her on dealing with covid closures, etc. and wished them all the best and my continued support. As explained the situation to her, she looked at me like she didn't know me. Basically said there was nothing she could do, especially since I ordered on third day and it was Saturday. I explained we were away, bought the dinner to have at the Cape, etc. She was literally insinuating that I was lying. We are talking about a $12 dinner. Obviously they don't know how to treat their customers. I left the food on the counter and left the restaurant, honestly bewildered as to her attitude. 10 minutes later her husband, I believe , called me. I explained the situation and how I was treated. No apology- basically an offer to give me 2 vegetable spring rolls when I come back again and order. I am a business man, and a faithful customer, but I have never been treated like this before nor would I treat anyone like this. The right thing to do for your customers is make things right. It's not the $12 that upsets me, but the lack of trust (that they didn't believe I said one thing and was misheard and given another order) and that as a faithful customer they couldn't do right by me and remake my order. Again, $12 we are talking about here for food I didn't eat. I am a person of principle and although I liked their food, it's that attitude and treatment that will make me take my business elsewhere, to another establishment that believes and does right by their customers. read more

We ordered here for take out. We ordered Mongolian chicken and sesame chicken. Everything was super sweet. Even the soup was sweet. The sesame chicken was soggy and the breading was falling off. The Mongolian chicken was flavorless and so sweet I just couldn't eat it. We ended up putting the pieces of sesame chicken in the air fryer to crisp it up. And to top it off the rice was undercooked. I have to assume the first two five-star reviews were from friends and family. This is no five-star restaurant by any measure, unless your measure is living in Hebron and there is nothing else nearby. The restaurant is in a small storefront in a small strip mall. The decor is minimalist, if you care about that kind of stuff. White walls, dark furniture and floors, no atmosphere. We arrived at dinner hour at about the same time as another two-person party (the four of us were the only people in the restaurant). The other party received their meals and finished them, got their take-out boxes, checked out and left before we even received our dinner orders. This place seems to be much more concerned with take-out. Many people came and went, picking up big grocery store bags of food, while we waited. And waited. But at least they kept refilling the bowl of crispy rice things and duck sauce. Oh, well, it's Hebron...it's in the sticks. Take out probably keeps the place alive. When our dinners finally arrived, they were actually pretty good (we had egg drop and hot n sour soup before; standard, nothing worth writing about). My wife got a supposedly "spicy" Thai dish with veggies, beef, chicken and shrimp. It was okay. But not spicy at all. I ordered a Crispy Sole Filet with Thai Garlic Sauce...marked on the menu as being "spicy." Meh...I had to order a side of hot chili oil when the server finally showed up to check upon us, halfway threw our meal. But the dish itself was really good and flavorful. The food is actually pretty good. But the service and the atmosphere is pretty bad. The menu is erratic. They claim Thai and Chinese cuisine, but there is very little on the menu that is Thai. It's a pretty basic Chinese restaurant menu. Prior to our meal, our server appeared regularly to fill up water glasses and give us another bowl of rice crisps and duck sauce. But once dinner arrived, we never saw her again. And we were the only people there. Oh, and they don't serve any alcohol...there is a display of drinks in the dining room, but if you ask for one they direct you to a package store next door. BYOB. Doesn't do much good on a Sunday evening in CT. All in all, I'd say call for some take-out. If you're looking for good Asian cuisine in the area, the new Oriental Cafe in Willi is much more inviting, and has a much better menu. read more

This place is basically a Chinese fast food/take out restaurant with a couple of other options to consider itself "fusion". I know that there aren't many Asian food options around but this area, but it does not deserve anything higher than 3 stars. We were in the area and with limited options, we decided to give it a try. There was 6 of us so we tried a variety of things from: steamed vegetable dumplings, chicken satay, calamari, Singapore noodles, sizzing beef (only came with 4 pieces and didn't like the flavor), thier only fish dish, drunken noodle (lack of flavor, soggy), crispy duck, and fried shrimp. Everything was either mediocre or not worth trying again, with the exception of the duck which was not bad. However, the prices are good and the service was good. read more

Our normal Chinese place is closed so my husband and I gave Zen a try and were pleased! Love that the wontons in the soup are small, and there were plenty of them in the large we ordered. The portions are a good size (we got combination plates) and we both have leftovers for another meal. The food also seemed less greasy than other Chinese food, which is a good thing in my opinion. They have a great setup for dealing with COVID-19 concerns too. Will continue to order from here as long as the place in our town remains closed. read more

In the last several weeks I have tried the beef and broccoli stir fry, the chicken and broccoli stir fry, the beef lo mein and the General Tso's chicken. Our only complaint is that it took 20 minutes for our meals to arrive when they were not busy. We were the only ones there at 4:30 on a Saturday afternoon. Went there with my girlfriend today. Absolutely the worst meal I ever tried to eat at a restaurant. The fried rice was yellow as if it came out of the box had no flavor the peas seemed old. The Kung Pow chicken was in tiny little pieces and I could tell the oil hadn't been changed for who knows how long. My girlfriend had the pad Thai. It was tasteless and had some kind of water down sauce on it. Gross. It was inedible and left hungry leaving the food on our plates. I explained to the woman that We couldn't even eat our food (if you can call it that) and still insisted I pay for it. I'm not that picky of an eater and this is my first one star review. Love this new Chinese/Thai place next to Ted's! The Pad Thai was good and the General Tso's chicken was the best we've had.
