Got sesame chicken with fried rice, general chicken with lo mein, spring rolls, an egg roll, and dumplings. Sesame chicken: a little overdone and tough, but the flavor was good. Fried rice: very mild in flavor, not a lot of seasoning. General Chicken: chicken was mostly cooked well, some was a little tough. This is HOT. It doesn't seem like it on bites 1-3. But it creeps up on you. I can tolerate a fair amount of heat, but this stuff was a true 3 of 5 in spice level. Very tasty though. Lo mein: mild but good. Spring rolls: crisp and tasty, cabbage heavy. Egg rolls: savory and crisp, these are good. Dumplings: the sauce and the filling are great, but the wrappers were too thick for my liking, you could taste the dough, and I didn't prefer that. Was told to leave when we got our food at 9:05pm even though Google and their sign said 10pm close. The guy said they were closing. My wife and I ordered two completely different dishes with her ordering shrimp and rice, and me ordering pork Lo mien. Both dishes looked the same, a dark orange color, even though noodles and rice are not orange. Also, both meals tasted the same, I mean they tasted exactly alike. Horribly unfriendly staff and sickening food. Ordered Sweet and Sour Chicken (2 orders) with fried rice and Egg Drop Soup. As you can see from the picture the chicken was encased in some kind of puff breading, with no sweet and sour sauce and the fried rice was old and tasteless. The egg drop soup was an orange-greasy mess. I wish there was a category for minus stars. I'm just thankful my clothes didn't smell like a greasy kitchen after I left because the smell was so overwhelming in the waiting area. read more

We always eat at China Star when we get Chinese food in town and it's usually really good, but lately its been underwhelming, and tonight was the worst. Their spicy dishes have been so spicy that you can't taste the actual flavors of the dish. I asked for "less spicy" tonight and it was finally edible, but we ordered a beef dish off the dinner menu and we got the chicken version, which isn't even on the dinner menu. The main dishes themselves were good, but we also ordered cheese wontons and got egg rolls with the dinners. The wontons were crumpled up, burnt, and had barely any filling. They weren't really edible. The egg rolls also tasted old and mushy. I am just so disappointed, but it doesn't do any good to complain to them, because once I actually found a piece of food string in my mei fun and when i reported it, they weren't even apologetic and were just very dismissive. I hope they read these and work to make improvements. read more

We have eaten here quite a few times and never been disappointed. Their rice has good flavor, better than other local Chinese Restaurants. I always get the Chicken Broccoli with Pork Fried Rice. It's not as good as New England Chinese food, but best in area so far. Only place I like the rice better is the Thai Place across the street. I don't really interact with the staff very much, but they seem friendly enough. read more

ABSOLUTELY THE WORST Chinese "food" I have ever TRIED to eat. The best thing I can say is the Sesame Chicken was hot, but tasted like sh**. The Fried Cheese Wonton were cold, stale, obviously store bought and devoid of cream cheese, (even my Dogs wouldn't eat them), while the steamed dumplings, also cold, were like rubber filled with flavorless mystery mush. Just ordered Christmas dinner from here 12/25/19. 67$ order and ended up throwing more than half of it away. The meat was terrible in every dish. Only thing worth eating was the rice and noodles. The inside of the place was dirty, The windows looked like they hadn't been cleaned in weeks. The tables and chairs were in rough shape. This place is actually the best Chinese you will get in Crestview in my opinion. I was pleasantly surprised :). After 3 years we finally have a go to Chinese takeout place. Hands down has the best generals sauce, crab Rangoon and pork fried rice compared to the other places in town. AND THE RESTAURANT IS CLEAN compared to other places in town too!!!!! read more

I was really hoping this would be a good place, but it was disappointing. We stopped in on a Saturday for lunch. There were no other customers when we got there. The woman at the counter was not very inviting, but we placed our orders and sat down to wait. It took a good 15 minutes to get our food, which was fine because they were actually cooking it fresh. We sat down at a table got our chop sticks ready and you would think it was pretty obvious that we would be dining in. When our order was ready, the woman bagged it all up as if we were taking it to go. Not such a huge deal, except for the fact that it is very wasteful. I got the General Tso's Chicken. It wasn't very spicy, and it was extremely sugary. It wasn't a sauce on the chicken, it was a syrup. A couple of pieces in and I got a piece that seemed to be nothing but a fried ball of tempura, but since I shoved the whole thing in my mouth at once, I couldn't be positive. Then I got another. Decided at that point to start breaking them open to find the chicken. Sadly, there wasn't a lot of chicken to be found. Some didn't seem to have any at all, and several pieces had itty-bitty, little pieces in it...I think. My daughter got the Sesame Chicken, which is battered and fried the same way. I would bet that hers wasn't very packed with chicken either. Hubby had a beef dish that I don't remember the name of, and he seemed to think it was better than what he has had from Jin Jin. I've not eaten at Jin Jin, myself, so I don't know how that compares. We all liked the Fried Rice! It's not going to be the greatest you will ever have, but it was good. The prices on their lunch specials are good. You get your entree with fried rice and a drink for $4.99 - $5.29. So not too damaging to the wallet. I will definitely give them another chance. I will just stay away from the sweet sauce dishes and go for something like Szechuan Beef or Hot & Spicy Chicken. They have a pretty large menu, so there is plenty to try. Today my husband and I went to China Star. It was my first..and last.. time I will go there. I asked if I could get cheese wontons instead of egg rolls. She said "NO!". I understand if there is some kind of rule, but at least be polite about it. No, I'm sorry but we cannot.. it was just "NO!" Once our order arrived she was getting out drinks and reached in an took two cans out of a fridge. I asked her if there were some cups with ice we could have to go with them. Again, expressionless and somewhat perturbed she answered a simple. "NO!" I felt that I was an inconvenience to her by even coming in there.
