Went to this place back to back, 2 days in a row. I definitely recommend eating the hibachi, build your plate and they cook it, it was the best part in my opinion. Food was great despite some of the recent reviews saying otherwise. We had extremely pleasant interactions with all employees. This place gets a 4-star because it was clean and took many COVID precautions. A+ for effort. Selection was good for an "average" Chinese buffet. I'm giving this a 4 star because it was the ONLY thing in the area open on Christmas Day. Sometimes availability makes all the difference. We were starving and we now have full bellies. The Buffet is as to be expected they keep the food hot and it's plentiful. The restaurant is nice and clean. The servers are friendly and stay on top of refills. The only thing at this restaurant that was halfway decent was their hibachi. The food was below mediocre and not what I'm accustomed too. Please for the love of sweet baby Jesus, DONT EAT HERE!!! This place was absolutely, down-right, disgusting. As soon as me and my family walked into the doors, I watched a few roaches scatter away. The food looked alright. The utensils were coated in the previous person's meal. We had even been sat at a dirty table that wasn't cleaned until we pointed it out to them. After some time, we finally got some clean utensils and some food. We were in the middle of eating and I needed to use the restroom. When I approached the bathroom door, and absolute foul, putrid stench, assaulted my nostrils. When I opened the door, I was met with the absolute disgusting sight of human feces everywhere. It was on the sinks, mirrors, walls, stall walls, and on the floor. I immediately walked out and notified the staff about the situation. Eventually we left after only eating a little bit because my family got really grossed out by the place. On the way home, we had to pull over and on all fours, tried regurgitating our internal organs. Don't ever go here. read more

I am local and either dine in or takeout here at least monthly. This is not a fancy or high end buffet. This restaurant does produce consistently good food. Their building has a few signs of aging, like booth seats and wear on floors but it is clean and the service is always good (and genuinely friendly). I've never had a "bad" meal here. Sometimes it may not be as fresh as others but it is never bad. I can't imagine why some reviewers put it below 3 stars on an off night. read more

It was alarming that no one did anything other than offer a fresh plate. This is not the only time there was questionable foreign objects in t he food. I went for lunch..the food was good but they didn't have a big selection on the buffet.

For mediocre Chinese food it was pretty good. I don't say that with malice. It was just mediocre. I thought the sushi was the best entrée hibachi next and Buffet third. The sweet and sour soup was pretty good, service was good and polite. It was almost $40.00 for two of us to eat... My wife doesn't eat very much in the first place and I thought that was a bit over priced for just the two of us for mediocre food. I guess to really give a good review I would have to eat at Jin Jin just down the street, perhaps next time we're passing through that area. read more

I am a chef and have been eating Chinese buffet since 1978. In those days great Chinese was easy to find. For the last 15 years I, at best, have found them horrible to just o.k. And, I have lived in many different states. I was ecstatic to find Plateful. The food is great, the prices are good, beautiful remodel, the restaurant and the food is so clean,the staff always friendly and accommodating. The sushi is good. Is the best Chinese I have ever had? No, but it is by far the best I have had in years from a buffet. My new go to place! read more

We have now been back twice since writing the original review on opening day--and we could not be more pleased! The food is awesome and no more noisy, obnoxious customers to keep you from enjoying your meal. One request please, please don't put sesame seeds on everything! Over a third of the population have Diverticulitis (not just me) and seeds can put us in the hospital! Thanks, count us at regulars and big fans whenever we are at our second home in Defuniak! Oh! Great lunch spot we found on the way back from Destin!!! Restaurant was clean, food was great and the prices were just right for our group of seven. We had the Buffett that included all the normal Chinese Buffett choices including fresh sushi and hibachi made to order. Would definitely stop here again on our way in or out of town. read more

Always clean and fresh buffet. We have never had a bad meal here. We alternate the fresh salad bar with fresh made in front of you sushi and hibachi. Best peanut chicken and tiramisu anywhere. They did a complete renovation a few years ago and is kept 100% clean everyday. Note: we do encourage eating frog legs, so can not recommend holiday and Sunday menus. Save the frogs! read more
